Frances 1st victory over UK since the 100 years war ?

Let me start by confirming I have no allegiance,received no reward of benefit & am not an employee of “Made in Design”
Searching for an iconic & expensive designer item by Eames had me trawling the internet for some time trying to find a reputable supplier who had the item in stock. Mid search I found that the famous & historic UK manufacturer & supplier “Heals” of London had the item in stock and were advertising the fact that they offered a price match promise, happy days,debit card in hand I contacted “Heals” to activate their price match & order the item. Disappointingly for me that “Heals” replied stating they don’t offer any price match against non UK companies or companies without a UK contact centre,a UK base,a UK distribution/logistic centre which my cynical mind thought this criteria massively narrowed the chance of finding a company to price match & therefore alleviating their furtive improbable offer to honour their price match promise.
Anyway back to my cheapest price find at “Made in Design” to make my order, a company who “ Heals” wouldn’t price match who granted are a French born company with a French head office BUT they do actually have a UK base,UK contact centre,UK distribution/logistic centre etc !! So money saved I found the “made in designs” website was easily accessed,items in stock,secure payment options, cheapest price I found in Europe in fact ROW ,happy days. Item received in just over a week from ordering leaving me extremely happy and a bit better off financially 🙂
The only tiny fly in the ointment was that the suppliers chosen courier/ delivery firms tracking system was a bit vague,slow to update & not really shown in real time which messed with my anxiety a bit but unnecessarily as the item did arrive very well packaged in good time looking like it had been handled with care.
My lesson learned is shop around,check out any advertised sales pitch,taglines or grab lines & don’t just assume or trust historic supposedly upright UK suppliers/outlets are equitable & sincere… vive la France 🙂

Poor customer service, delayed sofa by 4 weeks

EDIT: My order number is correct and it was placed through MadeInDesign.com by my partner.

The price is great but the customer service is zero stars. We ordered our sofa on the 16th August and it was quoted as 4-6 weeks delivery time. When this time passed, there was not a follow up email. We have had to chase the delivery of the sofa - we also have paid 190 euros premium delivery service and they refused to give a refund instead they offered us a discount code for a future order, which with this bad experience, we will not be ordering again.

Delivery is now scheduled for 21st October and we cannot get a confirmation from their customer service if delivery also includes packaging removal (their initial email stated it would) but given the lack of trust I now have with this company, I want it confirmed before delivery.

My conclusion therefore is that this company cannot delivery good service on bulky items like sofas. Next time, go directly to the brand. The customer service is also delayed and not proactive, so you spend your time following up with them regarding delivery. Avoid if you want a stress free process. I can only hope the premium delivery service is better than the customer service.

Appalling and degrading

The package went missing and it has been impossible to communicate with Made In Design about the refund/replacement because their communication processes are unfit for purpose and I believe discriminatory against me as a neurodivergent person.

Poor customer service and wasteful…

Poor customer service and wasteful practices – avoid Made in Design

I ordered some stools from Made in Design (order no: 200363652) and immediately noticed an issue with the size. I flagged it with them straight away, before the items had even left their warehouse. Despite this, they insisted the delivery had to go ahead and could only be returned after arrival—something they admitted was due to their system that processes orders too quickly to intercept.
It’s hard to understand why a company of this scale would rather ship items unnecessarily—creating extra emissions and cost—than simply cancel an order before dispatch. It feels inefficient, unsustainable, and ultimately unfair to the customer.
Now that the delivery has arrived, I’ve contacted them to return the items, and they’re asking me to cover the return shipping cost. This seems completely unreasonable given that I tried to prevent the shipment from happening in the first place.
Overall, the experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Made in Design has shown little regard for customer experience or environmental responsibility. I’ve since ordered the correct stools from another retailer with zero issues and lower shipping costs.
I won’t be using Made in Design again, and I’d recommend others think twice before ordering

The chair was delivered on September…

The chair was delivered on September 18, but it arrived damaged. I contacted customer service, and they said they would investigate. However, after 11 days, there has still been no reply. Their phone line is also unreachable. I strongly advise against buying anything from here.

The delivery process was a nightmare

The delivery process was a nightmare. I have experienced a more than 10 days delay with very little communication from your supplier Schenker. The goods came from France to London and went to Bradford by mistake (final delivery (my place) was booked for London). Received no communication. After a few days I was told that the cargo was in fact held by customs (which I doubt as it went from London to Bradford. And was never given an estimated new time of arrival. When I got to know it would come today (5th September I called to ask time for delivery and was given no apology, just that I cannot expect a time, I need to be home between 8am and 5pm and wait for a call on the day. It is now 16:15 and I have not been delivered not have I received any call, and you are asking me for a satisfaction survey as if I had been delivered, which I still haven’t.

We’re very sorry that your delivery experience has been unsatisfactory. The delay was unfortunately due to customs clearance, which has become more time-consuming since Brexit. Our delivery partner, Schenker, does not operate under our direct supervision and must comply with these regulations.
According to tracking information, your parcel was delivered on 5 September 2025. Nonetheless, it’s clear that the lack of updates and absence of a delivery time estimate have added to your frustration, and we apologise for that.

Placed an order on the 9/8 and still…

Placed an order on the 9/8 and still hadn’t received it by the 19/8. Followed up with customer services and got a response on the 20/8 apologising for the delay and it was a shipping issue which they would rectify that day. It is now the 29/8 and still no delivery or update other than a request for a review. Have followed up with my payment provider for a refund.

The only positive I can state is the price was slightly cheaper than other shops, but doesn’t help if you don’t get your product.

Solid but website could be better

Company has shipped garden furniture and it arrived in good condition, although it took a long time. One key thing to know is that this is not a UK company and is French. However, I wished to return furniture and this part of the process was a bit fiddly (website dead ends, slow customer service) but was ultimately successful and they offer a uk address to send back to (at customer expense) and I am soon to get a full refund. The price is competitive but be aware of the additional complexity.

Falsche Lieferung, unschöne Erfahrung

Ich habe zwei Kissen bestellt – und erhielt einen niemals bestellten Toaster. Nach mehrmaligen Rückfragen erhielt ich ein Retourenlabel, mein Geld jedoch nicht zurück! Das ist wirklich die unschönste und auch unseriöseste Erfahrung, die ich je mit einem Web-Händler gemacht habe. Kann nur dringend davon abraten!

They sent the wrong umbrella initially…

They sent the wrong umbrella initially but sorted it out relatively quickly but only after I followed up. Finally got the correct one. Boxes were badly damaged when delivered and items not in perfect condition but gave me a small refund and credit voucher for the inconvenience which was a nice gesture.
