Avoid avoid avoid

We had our beloved dog put to sleep at just three years old due to a neurological condition. He would have episodes where he was confused, disoriented, and completely unaware of his surroundings and therefore, being completely terrified, was acting aggressively.
I submitted a claim with More Than who quickly declined my claim as ‘behavioural aggression’. Despite a letter from our vet quite clearly stating that this was not a behavioural issue, and was neurological. Being neurological, and with no tests possible, our vet made their diagnosis based on my dogs symptoms. Again, this was stated in their letter to More Than.

More Than say there is not enough evidence and stand by their decline as ‘behavioural aggression’. More Than have no evidence of a behavioural issue and have so little knowledge about pets and their health, are just making assumptions so they don’t have to pay. Further, not one member of staff I spoke to showed any ounce of compassion or empathy during this heartbreaking time.

My dog was three years old. A happy and healthy family dog whose health declined very quickly. A dog who had never been aggressive in his life before something in his brain went wrong. All I want is justice for him, and the support from my insurance company who I pay hundreds of pounds to every year.

I have now taken this further with the Ombudsman. Please please avoid this insurance company at all costs

Increase dog premiums by 52%

Have been with More than for 4years.
Whats clear is that they do not reward long term customers and know that we have no choice but to stay with them after our dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur.
Increasing our premiums by 52% is disgusting and pure greed from a big company knowing that we are stuck with them and clearly because there now Admiral.

Would I recommend them? No I would avoid them.

Avoid them like the plague.

Avoid them like the plague , I have been with 'More Than' for roughly 10 years all was great till admiral took over , premium instantly went up , I had to constantly chase claims up myself as my vets were beginning to ask me to cover the costs & holding me liable after having to wait so long for a response.
Then I was charged two excesses and two co insurances as my claim apparently straddled the takeover period to admiral etc etc, in the end they managed to wangle out of giving me approx £400 on my claim !(lets face it the money they make must be phenomenal)
Absolutely terrible service ...if my dog wasn't so old and poorly I would leave them today , but unfortunately no where else will take us on now with his health being what it is , which I understand completely, but I'll never use them again - BE warned ⚠️ 😔

Avoid this company at all costs if your pet is spayed or neutered, as you will be charged more in premiums. OTHER INSURANCES DO NOT PUNNISH PEOPLE FOR DOING THE BEST BY THEIR PETS. They claim it increases the risks of illness, so not spaying dosen't by their standards but by Veterinary opinion yes it can carry risks of developing serious illnesses. All the big welfare charities promote spaying and neutering yet more than appear to be putting profit before what is best for animal welfare. Over population of unwanted pets is also a problem but more than make insurance premiums unaffordable and don't appear to care less about this PROFIT OVER WELFARE. They want you to take great care of your pets on paper but when you do it's punishable by increases in premiums.
Shame on you more than !!
They refuse to uphold complaints about this put your pets first avoid this company if they are spayed or neutered.

In my opinion yes you are punishing those owners who act the most responsibly. Increasing my original renewal quote by £46.63 based solely on neuter status is a disgrace especially when other insurance companies do not do this and quotes are showing it is cheaper if your pet is spayed/neutered.

Transparency really? you state that the premiums can be affected by a change in details you don't state if it will be negatively affected and there is no transparency regarding neuter status and how this will increase your premiums. Just carefully worded text it's not exactly transparent. I suspect this is because you know that this would negatively affect your company as people would chose not to insure their pets with More Than due to this large increase in premiums.

when I asked the call handler over this he said he can't explain the reason behind this policy you have and he actually agreed with me that I was right. I did ask to speak to someone who could explain to me and he said " they probably wouldn't be able to explain it either" This says it all when even More Than staff A. Agree it is unfair and B. couldn't explain it. Then complaint's department refuse to uphold anything people deserve better, your customers are paying a lot of money to do the best by their pets it is a shame it's only the money More Than appear to care about.

NOW CANCELLED POLICY felt almost forced to by the way I have been treated by Morethan it's a shame as I was wanting to insure my two kittens with morethan aswell until this situation arose sad when you have been a loyal morethan customer for years. Thanks for making me so irrelevant and feeling I had no choice but to cancel my policy Morethan, would I have been looking to leave anyway, NO so thanks for returning your loyalty.

Beware increases of upto 100% a year

Beware increases of upto 100% a year! More than pet insurance owned by admiral have today called me and confirmed that their T&C’s state on lifetime pet polices premiums can go up by 100% each year!! So a low £20 a month insurance in just four years could be £160 a month!!! My policy went up by over 80% this year and when I complained they just said it’s in there T&C’s.. so be warned because once you go with this company you might end up stuck due to pre-existing conditions rules.. There are pet insurance companies that don’t put up you policy just because you’ve been unfortunate enough to claim.. admiral seem to be treating pets like a car or house.. not family members who might get sick through no fault of the owner. The unaffordable punitive nature of this policy puts pets at risk of suffering either because owners don’t go to the vet soon enough or the owner can no longer afford insurance!
