If I could give this 0 stars I would. This company is so crooked I don't understand how they are in business. I never had a single claim but they stole money from our bank accounts during an active workers compensation premium audit dispute. They claimed our payroll was twice as high as the numbers I sent and then stole our money. It has been 12 months and they have consistently made up new excuses and technicalities why they can't refund my $15,000 dollars that they illegally withdrew. You can't even talk to anyone with any decision making power when you call them. Zero support. Steals your money. Do yourself a favor and find a different insurerer.

Obtained workers comp for our small non-profit children's choir. They cancelled after two months claiming I misrepresented our business because every few years we go on tour. We use a licensed, bonded and insured travel company that specializes in music tours for choirs, bands & orchestras. We have travel insurance as well as the liability insurance. Our choristers are NOT employees. But they think our risk is too high. I've been in business since 1995 and have never made an insurance claim for anything for this non-profit. This is just insane.

Got them for workers' comp, however, the audit process is an absolute nightmare. They're not giving me any direction or helping me whatsoever. Now they're threatening me, saying if I don't get it done by July 30th, then I'm going to be non-compliant.

Worst ever. Very unorganized. Audits were a nightmare. I would submit all requested paperwork, and they would loose it every time. Then they would deduct money from my checking account. Then you file appeal. Sometimes you would get your money back, other times you wouldn't. Even after a cancelled they continued to deduct money out of my checking account.

Total scam classic bate and switch, they charge a reasonable fee up front but then “audit “ you and charge 10x . Dont fall for them customer service is out sourced amd just follow a script. worst experience i have ever had. AVOID!!!

During my premium audit, I was disputing said audit because they misclassified me (Owner) as an installer which carried a higher per dollar insurance cost. They charged me the $965 overage during the dispute which is incredibly improper. After realizing they owed me money (plus the $965 they charged me), they said they would apply it as a credit for my current policy. I don't want that, I want Pie Insurance to write me a check for the money I paid over, plus the money you stole from me during the audit dispute. They claim it's not possible. Well, they lost a customer and I would advise anyone to go with another agency. I will also be filing with the Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Consumer Services about this matter.

My husband got injured on the job in August of last year and reported his injury in a timely manner. Paper work after paper work has been submitted from everyone involved since day 1 and til this day he hasn't gotten a dime back for his lost wages. It's going to be almost a year next month and we had to get a lawyer involved. This company will take your money monthly for premium, but will NOT pay your workers when needed. AVOID AT ALL COST.

We were quoted around $2500 for insurance, and after an audit, during which they harassed my office manager many times, they determined that all of my contractors are actually employees and raised by fee to $8000. Then they immediately had a totally different set of auditors contact us to repeat the process. We had Zenith for years, and should have stuck with them, since they never gave us trouble, and the audits were always low stress and nonconfrontational.

Horrific. My employee got hurt 8 weeks ago. We are required to report the injury in a timely manner (which we did!) but we are EIGHT WEEKS post injury and my employee is waiting on a referral STILL.

Our adjuster's extension is no longer valid. No one has returned my many emails and voicemails so that I can figure out who is our new adjuster. I just leave voicemails and emails every day and no one ever responds.

It should be a CRIME that they can continue to collect my workers comp premium when I can't even get someone to return my calls for EIGHT WEEKS when my employee is in active pain. Criminal.

Avoid this company at all costs!!

They just tried to hit my account for $34,000+. My workers comp per month is $130 and I don't have any employees. I emailed them beforehand to try and get them audit docs they needed (as I did miss my original audit deadline) but didn't hear for them for 6 months and then a bill for $34,000+. I wouldn't use them.

They cancelled my Workers' Comp insurance, then charged me for going to a new company. Saying I short termed. They cancelled me. It was also for bogus reasons that they cancelled me. They came back three years later, saying I owed them money. Do not use them

I have a non-profit and I was charged $1431.00 for an audit for 2 weeks of the year with no payroll run, no income and 1 employee. I attempted to cancel the policy within days of realizing they were going to charge me a fee on a payroll I was not running. I contacted them by email. If you try to call, the representatives you speak with only have their protocol answers and really do not provide much help at all. Pie reached back out to me a week later to tell me I had to provide a formal process. I did the formal cancellation within 2 weeks. A couple of weeks later I received an email from Pie to perform an audit. I called Pie to see if I even needed to do the audit…as there was no money, no payroll and 1 employee. The representative said I should! I would have refused the audit had I known what they were going to do. I then received a bill for $1431.00!!! I submitted a dispute form back on March 30th and still have not received a resolution of my issue. I have called and emailed NUMEROUS times and keep getting the same answers…it’s being processed or they will expedite it. In the meantime, I have a collection agency calling me and sending me mail regarding an issue I have been trying to resolve since the end of March for monies that have no viable basis due to an audit their representative said I should do. In addition, I recently received another bill for an additional $466 for last year’s audit! The invoice they sent with it doesn’t explain the charges of $466. I tried to call and all they said is, you can submit a dispute form…again, their protocol answer. The representative on the phone couldn’t tell me what the charges were for.

Pie is unethical and predatory in how they conduct business and they should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT USE PIE!!!

I got an insurance policy for my small business through an agent from Pie Insurance and they without informing me started charging $15 every month as installment fee. In the receipt they conveniently hid this fee. Eventhough I was okay paying all at once and did know about this charge. When we raised a complain about it they got back and said it is what it is and we cannot change it. They even told my agent that we should have checked it before the policy was issued and flatly rejected our request. So I paid $180 extra a year on a policy with a total premium of around $420 a year. So the installment fee was alomost 50%. This is an abhorrent behavior from Pie Insurance and should be penalized for that. Is this how you treat small business owners who are taking a huge risk with their venture. If you are a small business and an insurance agent, I highly recommend staying away from Pie Insurance due to their unethical, predatory, and unprofessional practices.

Received an audit invoice for 361 dollars for two weeks worth of payroll I never had and employees I don't even have. They said they wouldn't charge me since I didn't open the business and now they are threatening me if I don't pay. This company is a scam! And you could never talk to someone on the phone. In the emails they are not calling me by my correct name!

As the owner of Jacksonville Lawn & Shrub LLC, I set up a pay-as-you-go workers' compensation policy through Pie Insurance via Gusto payroll. The entire point of that structure was to ensure premiums were collected accurately in real time — eliminating the need for a year-end audit adjustment.
After the policy period ended, Pie conducted an audit and claimed I owed $2,900. When I requested the audit worksheet and supporting documentation — which I am legally entitled to — they refused to provide anything. No breakdown. No explanation. Nothing.
Within 24 hours of my written dispute, they threatened to send my account to collections. They also attempted an unauthorized ACH withdrawal from my bank account while the dispute was still open.
I submitted actual payroll records showing the correct figures. That was ignored.
I was a multi-year customer. I went through serious health issues during this policy period — including brain surgeries — and set up automated payroll billing specifically because I could not manage manual processes at that time. Not once did Pie show any acknowledgment of that, any flexibility, or any basic human decency.
If you are a small business owner, do not trust this company. When you need them to be fair, they will not be. 1 star is one more than they deserve.

Pie insurance is the absolute worst. They are unprofessional rude and do not care about their customers. I've been trying for 2 weeks to get a hold of someone in customer service to no avail. I've asked repeatedly for an email a phone call anything no communication at all.

EMAIL CONFIRMED!!!!!!!  Again I called on 2/16/2-26, talked to Shine Escalon in customer service (THAT IS A JOKE!!!!!)   TO CANCELED, she asked for a request for payroll change, to which I responded "0"  income reported!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor service. My vehicle has been ready at the body shop for over a week, but the insurer has not issued payment despite repeated assurances from the adjuster. Very disappointed with the lack of follow-through. I have been without a car getting rides for a month. I do not recommend this insurance.

Pie insurance are liars ITS NOT ESASY AS PIE IS BULL ITS HARD AS HELL. PAY BY PAY WEEKLY IS A LIE. They said I was paying weekly every payroll and At the end of 1year I owe?12,000 +$ DO NOT CET YOUR INSURANCE FROM PIE.They are really BAD

Absolutely Terrible Company

Pie Workers’ Compensation is a complete disaster. Their customer service is nonexistent, and once they take your money, good luck getting any response back. I’ve been trying to get a refund and they simply ignore emails, calls, and follow-ups. Total silence.

Their premiums are ridiculously high, and when there’s a problem, they disappear. This company clearly doesn’t care about small businesses or customers once they’ve collected payment. It feels borderline unethical how they operate.

If you value your time, money, or sanity, stay far away from Pie Insurance. There are plenty of better, more professional options out there.
