Racing TV free trial

Took up Racing TV’s offer of a free month’s trial on 25/3/26. Rang them on 13/4/26 to say that I didn’t want to renew at the end of the trial and was immediately cut off!
Very disappointed and won’t bother with Racing TV again.

When you contacted us on 13 April, your request to cancel the free trial was processed straight away, as requested. This meant your access to Racing TV ended immediately at that point.

During the call, we did offer the option to keep your access active until the end of the trial period, but we understand you preferred to cancel right away.

We’re sorry if this caused any confusion or gave the impression that you had been cut off, and we appreciate how frustrating that must have felt.

Monthly pricing, buried 12-month lock-in, then debt collection threats

I signed up to Racing TV to watch a single race while visiting my grandfather. The signup flow strongly presented the service as a monthly subscription with pricing shown per month, which gave the clear impression of an ordinary recurring monthly service.

Only afterwards did I discover Racing TV considered this to be subject to a 12-month minimum term, and I later received a letter threatening debt collection over the remaining balance after the payment method failed and the service was suspended.

What I found especially disappointing was that the key commercial impression was “monthly subscription”, while the alleged 12-month commitment was not presented clearly or prominently in the way an ordinary consumer would expect for something so important. In my experience, the crucial term appeared buried in dense small print rather than being made obvious upfront.

Customer service then relied on that hidden term and a confirmation email sent after signup, rather than addressing the basic concern: that the signup journey did not make the 12-month lock-in remotely clear enough before subscribing.

Very poor transparency and a disappointing way to treat customers.

My love of Horse Racing and Racing TV

I have been a member of Racing TV for many years now and have been very impressed with the members club and the the team that manage it, it’s a brilliant innovation where you can choose from the many meetings they arrange for you to apply for, and the tickets are free which also helps to keep your costs down for a great days racing, apart from this the young lady hostess Charlotte makes you feel very much a very important part of the racing club she somehow finds time to speak to all of members who visit these meetings and then you get one of RTV’s presenters and a guest speaker sometimes an ex jockey who go through the runners on the card and talking about there chances which can sometimes be very helpful in making your choices of selecting your horse, and the thing I like most of all is chatting to like minded punters and talking about your highs and lows in punting.
If you love your racing as much as I do then this is the club for you.

I have been a member of Racing TV for several years now and the coverage is as good as ever. You feel valued as a member with the chance to go to a number of free racedays during the year through their Club Day initiative. I also use their excellent website every day to watch replays and check out the latest news and tips.

A great TV channel

I have been a member of Racing TV for the past 7 years, their coverage of the racing is second to none. As a member, one is able to go to Club Days at the racecourses free of charge. On some occasions by automatic ballot, a VIP experience is offered with access to a hospitality box, refreshments, expert tips and pre-race access into the paddock. All in all, a great day out and I highly recommend membership.

The VIP days are really enjoyable

The VIP days are really enjoyable. The mix of people attending provides the catalyst for great racing chat. The relaxed atmosphere provided makes for a brilliant day at the races.

Excellent value and experiences

Been a subscriber for many years. Always been a fair price especially when taking advantage of promotional discounts. Club days are exceptional, with multiple opportunities annually to come racing for free. On some occasions a vip experience is offered with access to a hospitality box, refreshments, expert tips and access to parade ring. Overall offers excellent value for money and can’t recommend this tv channel and racing tv club highly enough.

great value for money

Terrible company

Terrible company. Threatening me with debt collectors after multiple requests to cancel a contract I was unaware was 12 months term. I have explained that I don’t use the subscription nor do I want it and they continue to refuse. The customer service is terrible! They trick people and should not be a functioning company

Been a subscriber to Racing TV for many years and for a horseracing fan there is simply no equal. Quality coverage of UK and Irish racing everyday. With innovation and insights from RaceIQ and shows such as the Verdict. With a variety of quality presenters and pundits. Add to this Free to attend club days throughout the year, you can't go wrong great value for money and if attending 12 club days a year you're effectively getting your subscription for free.

Scammed into 1 month free trial, do not use!

1 month trial plastered all over their website, even on the payment page. Purchased then called to cancel after I couldn't watch the race I wanted to. Woman on the phone was very rude saying there was no free trial and it expired 3 weeks ago and I needed to email. Then I checked my bank and £29 had been taken. Emailed and they said in the small print the dates of the free trial were written. On review, they were written in tiny letters under the massive header of 1 month free trial. Not only that, but they claimed I had also waived my statutory rights to 14 day cooling off period and I was now in a 12 month contract of just under £30 a month.
Back and forth emails with "Sean" from customer service which went into 1am. After quoting Consumer Rights Act at them multiple times, they relented and gave up and have refunded me. I have complained to the ASA. If they try and dupe you into paying, do not give up!

I have noted Racing UKs response below. Their tone over email was absolutely not this polite and gave me no recourse or solutions. The email they have provided for further feedback is the one I was emailing, so they can very easily review the chat. They are only responding in a more civilised tone as this is a public forum. I am saddened to read that so many people have been duped by this company into paying over 12 months and I hope everyone is able to challenge them and hold them to account.

Reported Racing TV to BBC Watchdog

I called days after receiving the free trial to cancel it and Racing TV denied continually that I did. They then went on to threaten me with a collecting agency if I didn't pay the installment if £29.98. They denied many times that I didn't call to cancel the subscription, meaning they could try to rope me into paying a full year's subscription, totalling hundreds of pounds.
I never once used the service, not once!
Their practice has truly sickened me, and I can't believe they've been getting away with this for so long.
Why hasn't anyone tried to expose them?

I have contacted BBC's Watchdog to do just that, and I hope they take up my case, as looking at the complaints here, I think it is justified and a more than winnable case.
I ask anyone who has complained before, and everyone who comes after me, complain to Watchdog. Their email is easily found online.
