We have been letting out a property via Rettie for two years now. This was our first property we have rented out. Our portfolio manager,Jess, is just fantastic. She is proactive, committed to resolving issues for both tenants and ourselves and has great judgment. We are kept very well informed and guided expertly through all processes. Jess really cares about our property and also cares about us having fantastic customer service. We have no hesitation in recommending Rettie as a letting agent. They have made the whole process very simple for us and have dealt with any issues that arise. We feel very lucky to have Jess as our Portfolio Manager and recommend highly.

I live underneath a property which is let by Rettie & Co. There is a problem with the pointing on the platt which is causing water ingress in my basement area. I contacted Rettie & Co in September and spoke with Michael Logan who advised he would send someone to carry out the work required.
Towards the end of October I sent a chaser email as the work had not been carried out and I was told that he would chase up the contractor. By the end of November nothing had been done so I sent another email with a video attached showing the water ingress. I advised that I’d had to get rid of a wooden bench which was ruined as a result of being repeatedly soaked. I also advised that there was now water ingress into a cellar which is used as a utility room. I asked for details as to whom I could complain about the ongoing issue. I received a response apologising for the “inconvenience” caused a that another contractor had been instructed and would attend last week. Nothing happened. I reiterated that I wanted to complain about Rettie & Co and again asked for details at to whom that complaint should be addressed. I received no response so I called them today and spoke with “Emma” who was less than helpful and somewhat defensive of her colleague and blamed the contractors for the issue not being resolved.
My property has been, and continues to be damaged by water ingress and Rettie & Co do not give the impression of being remotely concerned by this. If this was some one man band letting agency with no experience in the property market it would be poor show but that fact that it’s a company like Rettie & Co just makes the problem worse.
I am furious with the lack of action on their part and even more furious with the couldn’t care less attitude I have experienced to date.
Very very disappointing and at best, unprofessional in the extreme.

The agents been very mean to cleaners. I was the cleaner who done a lot of hard work for them. As far as I know they treating cleaners like the lowest class like we are no dignity and safety needed. When I cleaned a room with falling roof I simply concerned about the tenant’s safety so I asked if they have anywhere to live as the roof ceiling still got falling rocks on my shoulders. They then called my boss to educate me to mind my own business. Then I worked for them as the last job they had been advised their business everywhere outside of the building which got someone tried to scam us for goods inside of the property inside of the building one we cleaning for, they have blacked mailed us suggested that we are the robbers as we tried to remove rubbish from the house, then I noticed they are just a couple of criminals so I shouted them to back out they then took videos to send to rettie ,and then rettie viewed the video took by the criminals and sent to my boss directly never asked what was the cause of this. This agent has been extremely careless cold hearted to people like us who’s only trying to work the hardest and protect everyone’s interests. What I’ve noticed that they have a lot of ladies working in the office who just love to spread rumours and un testified informations to ruin everyone’s life when they can.
avoid this agent, looks very corrupted with all the golden ladies in the office.

Don’t trust Rettie with your property!! Short let my flat during the festival in Edinburgh through Rettie. I retuned to stained carpets and couch, damaged counter top and pots & pans. The kitchen was filthy including mold. The renter left empty toilet rolls, panties and condoms. Rettie didn’t have decency to let me know about the damage or repair/clean the flat. The level of disrespect for my flat from Rettie is unbelievable. Don’t use Rettie.

We had a mixed experiences with Rettie's in Edinburgh. As tenants, we were unlucky with the specific property manager we had to deal with. She was a poor communicator, often not replying to emails for several weeks and ignoring phone calls. When taking on the property, the previous tenants had put tar on the basement windows. She was aware of this and the property was vacant for 6 weeks before we moved in. Yet, she failed to arrange for these works to be done in time for our move-in date which meant we couldn't use the basement floor for several weeks at the beginning of our tenancy. Other matters we reported on moving in didn't get fixed until close to the end of our tenancy two years later. She also failed to let us know about months-long scaffolding and roofing work that was planned for the property - we found out when scaffolders turned up in our private garden one day. We didn't receive an apology for this. There were some matters she dealt with effectively: a leak in our kitchen sink, a replacement oven and offering support when our boiler broke. However, when we ended the tenancy, she stopped responding to communication around the return of our deposit and this had to be handled by a colleague.

In contrast, when looking to buy, we had a great experience with Maz Purdie in the sales team, who was friendly, responsive and organised and helped us to find a great flat. We would highly recommend Maz to others looking to buy in Edinburgh.

I’m only rating one because there is no zero. We employed Rettie to let out our beautiful house in St Andrews for The Open in 2022. Vanessa Rettie took on the let and what a monumentally disastrous task she made of this!!! We advise not to go with this company and particularly not with Vanessa as she doesn’t have a clue what she’s doing

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with Retite and co Glasgow, and I feel compelled to warn others about their unethical practices towards tenants.

From the outset, it was clear that this letting agent prioritizes profit over tenant welfare. It's apparent that they employ deceptive practices to exploit tenants financially and only protect benefits of their landlords. Considering the tenant demand is high they do not care about kicking someone out. THEY FORCED ME OUT despite paying rents for 3 years in a row as they wanted to increased the rent straight by £300 which was way above the gov guidance. I asked them for one months extension as it takes time to look for another property and they denied and said they will have an eviction order against me. How CRAZY that can be!!! A tenant who paid 3 years without missing a single payment and they couldn't let me stay an extra month till I could find a suitable place to relocate! Again protecting their own and landlords benefit!!

They seemed completely uninterested in resolving issues or even acknowledging tenant grievances. It's clear they have no respect for their tenants and are more focused on serving landlords and maximizing their own profits.

Adding to the list of grievances, the moving-out process was a nightmare. They unfairly deducted a significant portion of my deposit for "cleaning and repairs" despite the property being left in decent condition and when we got the end of tenancy cleaned from their OWN AGENCY CLEANERS. Attempts to dispute these charges were met with hostility and refusal to engage in any reasonable discussion.

Overall, my experience with Retite and Co Glasgow Bath Street branch was nothing short of a nightmare. Their unethical practices, lack of transparency, poor communication, and disrespectful treatment of tenants make them an agency to avoid at all costs. I strongly urge anyone considering renting through Rettie and Co to reconsider and look for a more reputable and tenant-friendly agency. Save yourself the stress and find an agency that values and respects its tenants.

Useless. We travelled from the south of England to Edinburgh having been assured by one of their agents that properties were not let prior to all prearranged viewings having been undertaken.

Firstly we received an email cancelling one viewing as too many people had been booked.

I then noticed that a property for which we had a forthcoming 10am booking had been marked ‘let agreed’ on the On The Market app and on further checking saw that it had been removed from their own website. We received no notification and had to contact them to ascertain the position. It had been let. I emailed to clarify why we hadn’t been informed - no response.

We then had a 4pm viewing at a different property. When my husband arrived for the appointment it had been double booked (for which there was no apology) and my husband had to view the flat in the company of two other people.

Unsurprisingly I’ve still received no response to my email.

Online enquiry submitted relating to Lettings for a property in Edinburgh (to explore Tenant Finder service initially). Enquiry followed-up, a really nice initial conversation with a representative of Rettie to arrange for a call from Lettings agent from the Edinburgh Office. Call received from RT mid-afternoon Thursday 11th January - a good, proffesional and informative initial chat with way forward agreed i.e. RT to give further consideration re Market Rental Income and Rettie proposition / pricing etc. ‘will get an email out to you this evening or tomorrow’ … still waiting 🤷🏼‍♂️ Things happen, sure - but not to get a courtesy ‘holding’ note, pretty unprofessional (for a supposedly ‘high end’ Property business). If that’s the approach to Owners, how would a prospective tenant be treated with an enquiry/issue? What promises broken and delays would be experienced?

Attempt to raise this experience with the Director of the Edinburgh Office, per Rettie’s own Complaints Guidelines & Process. Utilise ‘Web Chat’ to obtain contact details … 20 minutes later to conclude the representative “I’m afraid I’m not provided with the Director of the Edinburgh Office and don’t have access to the system” (but was able to share the details of Assoc. Director and a generic email address. Go figure 🤷🏽‍♂️

I don’t know what’s happened to ‘Customer Service’ and ‘Experience’ in the UK following COVID, but if the basics can’t be delivered … maybe I’ve dodged a bullet (and saved a paying a premium for a distinctly standard service) #Dissapointed

May be I was unlucky to get Michael as the point of contact from Rettie or its the whole branch that's absolutely a nightmare to deal with. I hope the first one is true but honestly have never come across any service so unprofessional in my last 10 years of stay within UK.

I was with them for 3 years and hope never again I need to contact them.

We have just bought and sold a house through Rettie Kilmarnock Road and I honestly have nothing but praise for the Team. We received helpful and solid advice when selling and our house was sold within a couple of days of being on the market. Massive thanks to Grace who really went above and beyond.

Terrible service, tried to get a mortgage via one of their advisors. Never got back to me, have a mountain of emails chasing her constantly. This also happened to another family member with the same mortgage advisor. Would never recommend the mortgage service unfortunately.

I just purchased a house through Rettie and the whole team was so helpful. They kept regular contact throughout the process and were happy to sort out any issues that were encountered where they could! Would highly recommend using Rettie for a house sale/purchase!
