A woeful experience from start to finish.

I was put onto SIlls more by force than anything else as they're one of only 3 local firms to me. We wanted to use them to purchase a property, and figured how bad could it be?

Unfortunately, the answer to that is probably even worse than I expected. The communication, or lack thereof was possibly the worst part. Trying to contact anyone in regards to our purchase was impossible unless via e-mail and then you were only likely to get a response within days. There were a few times where I could argue there was a lack of professionalism, which I feel could have been avoided if I didn't have to go back and forward over multiple calls, messages etc about a singular issue.

It was a case of once the bill was paid, they couldn't care any further despite some issues stemming from things they had missed.

The conveyancer also seemed to drag things out with the other solicitors involved, never directly answering questions that were asked so the whole ordeal took far longer than anyone expected.

If I could rate 0 stars, I would.

I was in the process of purchasing a property which did not go through. I decided to use sills & betteridge as the conveyancer.
I was charged for the service even when it did not go through. Which I guess they never mentioned no completion no fee. Due to this, and comparing it to other solicitors (I have been through the same process previously and have had to pay no fee), I would not recommend going with sills & betteridge considering there are other conveyancers which do not charge in the event of purchase incomplete. I would recommend finding a solicitor which do support not completion no fee. Most provide very good service and you won’t get charged if you end up not purchasing the property.

I honestly do not know where to start after the last 12 months of my life but after much stressing, google searching and some new grey hairs popping out I contacted Sills & Betteridge in regard to my young daughters and I was put in touch with Jessica Frith-Brown who headed up my case.

From start to finish, Jessica, her team and the barristers who she recommended were simply excellent. Every step of the way the communication has been clear, the skills and knowledge are there and they gave me and my daughters all the reassurances we needed.

The stresses were high at times but how they operate and Jessica’s work ethic made them go away and were replaced with confidence and smiles.

I am now preparing to move myself and my daughters into a new home as we move on with our lives.

If you are in a position where you need help with family matters especially children then do not hesitate to contact them, I owe them so much and it’s something that I can never repay because having having happy and safe safe children is priceless.

I would strongly advise domestic abuse survivors to think very carefully before instructing this firm. Our experience left us feeling that there was a serious lack of care, empathy and sensitivity towards the circumstances surrounding domestic abuse.
Lisa personally told us that an abuse victim could attend the property where her alleged abuser was present. When this was challenged, she subsequently backtracked on what had been said, but the impact and distress caused by the original advice had already been done. For someone who has experienced abuse, being told to put themselves back into a situation involving their abuser is extremely concerning and demonstrated, in our view, a lack of understanding of the realities and risks involved.
For a firm specialising in family law, I expected considerably more empathy, sensitivity and support. Unfortunately, the experience felt more like dealing with a legal service than with people who understood the human circumstances behind the case.
Communication was also frustrating. Important emails were repeatedly sent towards the end of the working day, leaving little or no opportunity to raise concerns or escalate issues on the same day.
There were other issues throughout the matter that I could go into, but ultimately I would not recommend this firm to someone seeking family legal advice where domestic abuse is a significant part of the circumstances.
Family lawyers, but sadly no family values in my experience. Avoid.

I have dealt with Sills & Betteridge Lincoln with conveyancing 3 times now and been both on the selling and buying end, and have to say their knowledge, efficiency, attention to detail and effectiveness are second to none. Even when dealing with difference circumstances (eg. putting property into a trust), they surpassed 2 other reputable solicitors contacted for quotes in their understanding (and the only ones to actually give us correct information!)

Super quick to answer any emails, always same day (even out of hours) and always answer the phone and their wise advice has undoubtedly saved us a lot of money over the years.

Centrally located office with plenty of customer parking which is also appreciated.

This are the worst solicitors around they said that it was for professional reasons because I said I know what I have to do.
Told the court I threatened my kids mum and it was because they didn’t want to put my evidence to the courts so I knew I had to get a new solicitor company they are the one company that you need to avoid as you can see from their reviews they are just money makers hopefully if you have used them and paid I hope you paid on a credit card so you can get your money back off them like I had to and they will make fake invoices up and then say that you don’t have to pay it as a good will jester please avoid them at all cost

I contacted the Sills & Betteridge Mediation Service on behalf of a Client. My questions were answered with clarity and my Client was able to speak to the Legal Adviser who informed him of the process. The clear and concise information enabled my Client to agree to Mediation. The Legal Adviser also sent an email with all the information required to reassure and confirm the procedure. We were dealt with politely and respectfully throughout the call and had no doubts as to the next steps. An anxious Client left the office in a positive state of mind following our contact with the Mediation Service.

Excellent conveyancing service from start to finish with the purchase of my property. The whole process was handled professionally and efficiently throughout. Any questions I had were answered promptly and I always felt reassured.

The team made what could have been a stressful process very smooth and manageable. I’m extremely happy with the service I received and would have no hesitation in recommending the firm.

Although I was not a direct client of Sills & Betteridge, I was part of a property chain in which they acted for another party, so I experienced first-hand the impact of their service.

The level of communication was, in my opinion, appalling. Both our estate agent and our own solicitors repeatedly struggled to obtain responses or meaningful updates. Chasing for information became the norm, and progress appeared to stall because communication was so poor.

This was a relatively straightforward, short property chain that should have progressed without unnecessary delay. While I cannot say with certainty that Sills & Betteridge were solely responsible, I can certainly say the lack of communication was frustrating. A five minute call directly with our purchases
This morning after I posted the original review clarified the situation so quickly. Why on earth the solicitors involved couldn’t have done this weeks ago is beyond my understanding.

Effective communication is fundamental to conveyancing. In my experience, it was seriously lacking throughout this transaction, causing unnecessary stress, frustration and, ultimately, what appears to have been the loss of the sale. Based on what I witnessed, I would have no confidence in recommending the firm. And I strongly suspect we lost our sale because of them.

Poor poor poor , how Diane Coultas can sleep at night is beyond me , her sheer incompetence and lack of basic communication skills are horredous , avoid at all costs if you value your sanity and mental health !!!

Mathew Daurge and his team in Lincoln have been superb throughout the whole process. Selling our old house was very stressful but Mathew was extremely supportive and very professional. It took almost eighteen months to sell our property due to the first chain collapsing but it was well worth it as our new house is exactly what we wanted.
