Campions give a speedy informative and helpful support for clients. A rare gem!

Campion accepted my request for help despite the difficulties during the covid lockdown and were very professional. They were very capable with managing covid restrictions/workarounds to still perform their job well.

Avoid like the plague

I am not a client but the buyer in our house chain was a client in the Lincoln Branch.

The firm are completely unprofessional. We were seeking to exchange but they had not advised the buyer to lodge a deposit despite her signing draft contracts the week before.

A week later they insisted that a covid clause was added to the contracts in the chain despite everyone having signed the initial documents which would have necessitated new contract documents being posted to everyone and returned - this was only 8 working days before our anticipated completion date.

Their client told them she didn't require the clause - the response - head office wouldn't allow them to proceed without one in place until the day before completion.

They would have known about this for 3 months yet raised it a week beforehand and then would not take clients instruction.

I have never heard the like - I would only consider them if Joe Pesci was unavailable for My Cousin Vinny the conveyancing version.

Stephen and team turned around an ILA service very quickly when needed and during the pandemic. Great customer service.

I was in search of a solicitor firm experienced with Lease extension and I found Campions solicitors just from a google search. I was really impressed with the array of information on their website. I sent an enquiry and within a few hours I got in touch with Stephen Campion. He is very knowledgeable and experienced with lease extension. Just from a few questions he asked me, he was able to identify an unfavourable clause in my lease terms for which I was able to go back to my freeholder to negotiate better terms. I am so pleased as I could have been left with an unmortgageable/unsellable flat if this wasn’t picked up earlier. I would recommend this firm for all types of Conveyancing service. So far I have always been able to speak to someone on the phone and get replies to my emails. This is a good firm to stick with.

Purchased my first home using Campions and the experience was great. Any delays in purchasing the property were always from the seller's side and campions responded within 24 hours to every request, and supplied all the information needed to know exactly where we were at. I mainly chose them as they were one of the cheapest solicitors but I'll be definitely using again and recommending.

We chose Campions for our conveyancing (house sale & purchase) based on a Google search and a lot of good reviews by previous clients. Despite the impact of Covid on remote working etc, they made good progress, and always responded quickly to communications. They are professional and fees are competitive, and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Quite surprised at the high rated reviews. My experience with Campion was quite the opposite. I could never actually speak to a solicitor, the phone of the Blue team always rang into a voicemail and the worst thing of all was that they did not complete on the completion date. The due diligence was poor, update on any process non-existent and the last minute rush to complete, relying entirely on email communication was a complete failure.

Despite moving home during a pandemic and the added pressure of the Stamp Duty 'holiday', the "Yellow Team" at Campions Solicitors did a terrific job in handling my conveyancing.
I'm sure that their work load was immense, yet I always had correspondence or queries deal with promptly and with great attention to detail. Furthermore, whether through emails or over the phone, I always received great curtesy and was given the impression that I, as an individual, was important to them.
Costs were very reasonable and represented great value for money.

We’re not quite over the line with our house buy just yet (caused by the seller’s solicitors), but to date, we have found that Campions provide a fast, responsive and very due diligent level of service, and we would highly recommend them to other home buyers (and sellers).

We mainly decided to use Campions because of our experience with them when raising an enquiry about our SDLT position last summer. They replied to all of our questions in a timely fashion, with good advice (for free), they often responded in the evenings and were even available for a couple of calls at the weekend. We knew at this point that they were a proactive and responsive firm, and their fees are very reasonable too.

We started the conveyancing for our current property purchase last October and they reviewed all the documents and submitted enquiries within a week of receiving the information. We have to say that Campions’ conveyancing was not just quick but extremely due diligent too - identifying multiple issues relating to the contract, the property, the leasehold agreement and the title.

Unfortunately, the seller’s solicitors (an online service provider) have really dragged their heels in resolving the identified issues, and we ended up needing to escalate the delays with the seller, and eventually, even with the online company’s management team, but Campions have been extremely patient throughout the drawn out process and provided excellent support - again, continuously quick in replying to emails, providing advice, making themselves available for prearranged calls and keeping us up to date throughout.

With hopefully just one final push to resolve the last remaining issues with the property’s documents, we look forward to completing before the stamp duty holiday deadline (fingers crossed).

I only have a couple of pieces of constructive feedback for Campions - I would review the use of the Mimecast system as it’s really not needed for email correspondence in this day and age and there are many other systems on the market such as Citrix ShareFile that are great for secure document transfer/archive; and it would be great if you could facilitate correspondence with two people, not just one lead person. With good IT support, Outlook has a lot of functionality to automatically organise inbound and outbound emails into different case folders.

Sold my house with minimal effort required from my side. Quick, efficient, excellent communication and very competitive pricing. Would strongly recommend Campions. I've experienced the other spectrum of solicitors in my time and can honestly say Campions are by far the best I've experienced. Will certainly be using them again in future. Thanks to the whole team especially Sophie who was absolutely brilliant.

Having used Campion’s solicitors for conveyancing on my new build house (first time buyer, no chain), I would not recommend them. I chose them because they price matched the solicitors the developer were recommending, they were a local business and they had good reviews on the internet. In hindsight, I would not have chosen Campion’s for a variety of reasons.
I made a formal complaint with them after their mistakes on submitting Help to Buy documentation on 3 separate occasions meant I could not complete on my legal completion date, and I was in breach of contract. Throughout the process there was lack of diligence too. It was clear that there was no attention to detail throughout the entire process and they just copy and paste information without looking at the content. There was a generic issue where my address changed from a Drive to a Close midway through conveyancing, so all the draft contractual documentation was obviously not read properly before it was sent to me as it still stated the wrong address on it in the latter stages. It was only until I pointed it out that it got changed. Again, you’re paying good money for someone to do this on your behalf and be diligent, and it was clear they just weren’t bothered. I also wasn’t too pleased that I couldn’t get hold of my conveyancing solicitor by phone as she didn’t have a work mobile sorted until a week or so before my completion date. I had to rely on emails or ringing the office, which often rang through and no one picked up, or waiting a call back from a private number.
The first big issue near completion was with a post code on the form sent to receive authority to exchange from Help to Buy. That meant 3 more days worth of delays as the turnaround time for help to buy is 3 days. The second issue was an incorrect loan amount sent (by an amount of £6000!) on the form sent to receive authority to complete (confirmation to developer that the equity loan funds will be provided), and then the third time was when they submitted an amendment to the mistake, they only scanned and sent 1 page out of a 3 page document, so completion couldn’t happen on my legal completion date thanks to their multiple mistakes and I was in breach of contract.
The managing director offered a mere £60 refund on fees for the mistakes, which was insulting given how much stress it caused me and how bad the mistakes were, and I was in breach of contract thanks to them. Luckily I was a first time buyer with no chain, and I didn’t have removals booked which would have been an expense lost.
If I was in a chain, I imagine the consequences would be much worse. Fortunately, the developers did not issue a notice for breach of contract, and didn’t ask for interest payments, but it could have been a different story. I completed the purchase whilst I was out of the country on business in the end, so the argument will be a service has been provided - but it was a bad service.
If you want a conveyancing firm which pays good attention to detail, go elsewhere. UPDATE JAN ‘21: An additional refund of £175 was accepted and paid to me for the mistakes made and stress caused.

Please to advise Campions have so far have done a great job in dealing with my buyers side and my respective buyers side.

I have used Campions twice now and they have done the task efficiently, speedily and with good value for money.

I highly recommend them and will use them again.

I found dealing with this firm unpleasant and stressful. It was difficult to speak or discuss anything with any solicitor. The receptionist asks why you want to speak with a solicitor. And what it is about? They behaved as if they are doing you a favour. One of the solicitors was rude and impolite. She hang up on me when I tried to complain of the behaviour of the receptionist. I wasted valuable time with these people. They need to teach their employees of how to be polite and courteous with customers. British ethics and etiquette are certainly lacking here. I would not recommend using this firm.

Used Campions for our RTB transaction. I can't fault them. Always kept us updated with progress. SR and her team were excellent.
What they quoted is what we paid. There fees were reasonable too. Saved us a lot of money compared to what out broker had recommended. I will use them again.
