One of the worst experiences of my life

I've had one of the worst experiences of my life with SkinSpaceUK.

Last year I attended the London Fitzrovia clinic for iPixel stretch mark removal. As per the treatment description, I aimed to minimise old stretch marks which were lightly visible.

The treatment left me with incredibly burnt, blistered and raw skin for weeks afterwards, and remaining burn scars to this date, over a year later.

I cannot emphasise enough just how physically and emotionally damaging this has been to me. The treatment was carried out in an intimate area (my chest / cleavage), and significantly compounded an issue (the old stretchmarks), and related low confidence and self-esteem – the exact opposite of the treatment aim.

After the initial injury, I returned to the clinic to discuss matters with the clinic manager. The clinic did a second round of iPixel on another area, with a lower setting, which caused absolutely no such reaction. The only conclusion from this is that the first session was conducted negligently.

In consultation with the clinic nurse, management offered me micro needling to help repair the scarring caused from the first session, for free, because, in her words ‘this is our fault’.

The micro needling barely made any difference at all. I still have incredibly visible burns remaining as a result of the injury inflicted on me by the clinic a year later - this has been devastating.

I emailed the head office and clinic twice, to try and resolve this issue fairly and with minimal stress for either side. They ignored both emails.

Following there being no reply to either of my emails, I instructed a no win no fee solicitor to take forward this case. The solicitor advised there is a clear case against SkinSpace UK.

However they failed to cooperate with the solicitor, and missed all deadlines over the last year. The stress and sense of personal injustice this has caused me is profound.

The solicitor’s advice was that, owing to the fact that SkinSpace UK have failed to cooperate, the next necessary step is to take the company to court. The solicitors’ fees for doing so were very high. Therefore I am now pursuing a small claims court settlement.

My grievance with the clinic is not just the initial injury, but failure to cooperate with remedial steps, both informal and legal. This has caused me significant stress, anxiety and life-turmoil, which has further compounded the initial injury and damage to my self-esteem and confidence.

SkinSpace UK's conduct throughout the last year has been undoubtedly reprehensible. They have caused me significant stress and anxiety, on top of physical injury. It is deplorable to treat a customer in the way they have, particularly where fault has been admitted.

They have admitted liability for the injury and yet ignored all attempts to resolve this issue. I have today issued SkinSpace UK with a letter before action and await any sort of satisfactory response.

This company is reprehensible. The stress they have caused me for the last year is completely profound.

Please be aware that I have been mis sold a £225 appointment that doesn’t exist and still no refund

Please be aware that I have been mis sold an appointment that doesn’t exist and then when I was told it was a mistake due to technical error (which I understand happens ) I asked for a refund but I seem to be getting the run around . Since yesterday told 3 times someone looking into it and still no confirmation I will receive one . If there genuinely has been a mistake as confirmed more than once then why is no one calling me to resolve it and process the refund. The appointment cost £225.

Details : Yesterday I booked a Hydrafacial with the Fitzrovia branch via their call centre . I spoke to Dee at 2pm who said she worked in the Manchester salon but could make a booking for me. She advised that there was an appointment available at 2pm today. I went into the Fitzrovia salon at approx 3pm to discuss any add ons to the Hydrafacial but they were unaware of my booking and they advised I would need to call the call centre to resolve . I called at 3.11pm and Dee answered and asked to speak to the therapist (using my phone so recorded) . The therapist advised Dee she is not qualified to carry out Hydrafacial and even if she was then my booking would mean she would be double booked. I then spoke to Dee again and advised not a problem as mistakes happen but requested a refund since there actually was no appointment. Dee said she would have a manager call me back. No one called.
This morning I eventually got through to someone at 10.27 who apologised and explained there was a booking error due to changing systems and indeed there had been a mistake and she would look into the refund and call me back. No one has called.
Since yesterday and this morning I have tried to get in touch through various methods to resolve this and get a refund but keep getting told someone looking into it? I clearly have not had the facial I paid for so I am not sure what the hold up is?

Treatment not working well and disappointing customer service

I’m writing to express my disappointment with the laser hair removal treatments and the overall service I’ve experienced at your clinic.

Despite attending multiple sessions, including several classified as top-ups, I’ve seen little to no improvement—there is still significant hair growth in the treated areas. The sessions are often completed very quickly, and it’s clear that not all areas are treated thoroughly. This raises serious concerns about the effectiveness and quality of the service provided.

Additionally, I was recently turned away from an appointment for arriving just five minutes late. This felt particularly unfair given that, on multiple occasions, I have been kept waiting 10–15 minutes past my scheduled time without any explanation or apology. The lack of consistency and consideration in how clients are treated is extremely disappointing.

Given the time and financial commitment I’ve made, I expected a far higher standard of care and professionalism. I hope you will take this feedback seriously and respond with a resolution that reflects a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

Terrible experience with SkinSpaceUK

I had a terrible experience with SkinspaceUK.

I showed up on time for my appointment, but was left standing outside and not informed until 30 minutes later that the appointment was cancelled. No apology, no proper communication — just complete disregard for my time and money.

I explained my personal situation and the urgency of the treatment, but they offered no real attempt to reschedule — only a slot more than six weeks later, which they claimed was "helping".

They’ve refused to refund me or even cover the transport costs I incurred, hiding behind vague terms and conditions that say nothing about denying refunds in cases where the service isn’t delivered.

Customer service has been evasive and unhelpful throughout. I do not recommend booking with SkinspaceUK — you risk losing your money and being treated with complete indifference if something goes wrong.

Not to mention the shady business with the prices... Every time you go in for your treatment, the beautician bombards you with offers because it's supposedly the last day to get such great discounts — no possible to relax and enjoy treatment!

DISAPPOINTMENT

WANTED A REFUND ITS BEEN ABOUT THREE MONTHS THEY HAVENT GOT BACK TO ME. THE TEAM ON EMAIL SAID THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME IN 28 DAYS AND 2 MONTHS LATER I STILL HAVE NOT GOT A RESPONSE!!!! THE SERVICE IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL

Impossible to book appointment and finish your course! Avoid!!

I bought a course of 6 laser treatments in January. Each treatment is meant to be done every 2-4 weeks, but I’ve encountered so many issues with my appointments. My last schedule was cancelled on the day and I was informed the next slot available is in 2 months time. Twice this has happened to me now. Clearly they are overstretched and presumably inundated with groupon appointments, but they should prioritise existing clients. All they seem to care about is upselling courses. Once they have your money you’ll struggle to get treatment.

Sorry, how can you operate like this? I wish I never bothered with this salon

I have been trying to book an…

I have been trying to book an appointment for over a month, no ones replies. I want a refund for my remaining sessions asap so i can go elswhere as the service isnt what it should be. I ended up with severe burn marks aswell from last sessions. No one picks up on any of the numbers shown on the website.

Unprofessional and Damaging.

I have had over 18 sessions of laser hair removal since 2023 and have only been treated with the correct laser setting for my last 2-3 sessions. All previous sessions were treatments on incorrect settings which were doing nothing for my hair but instead gave my cystic acne and further hair issues. I was shaving twice weekly and telling the staff in my sessions that I am concerned why the hair growth is far worse than it was when I started laser and it was not noticed. Everything was ‘hormonal’ to the staff treating me. I ended up taking consultations with dermatologists and taking prescribed medication for acne and my hormones yet there was no change in my cystic acne as the cause was not internal but actual the laser I was being treated with.

I took a break for a few months from laser and my acne calmed down. When I went back to my sessions and explained AGAIN what has been happening, I was told there is definitely no issue with the laser treatments.

On one occasion when I mentioned how upsetting my skin and acne scars were in a laser removal session, I was offered a hydrafacial. A hydrafacial immediately after my laser treatment? I obviously said no.

I then went on to be treated by the incorrect laser setting for a further few sessions until the staff changed.

When the staff changed and I met with 2 different therapists. Both went and check my records and advised I was being treated on a different laser to the one that I should have been treated on. They finally corrected the laser settings and my hair growth has calmed down and I am no longer reacting to the treatments so badly.

However, I am not sure why my settings were changed? Why was I not notified they were being changed? Who asked them to change them?

The therapist who now treats me is amazing and offered me a big discount to buy a further 6 sessions. Whilst I am grateful to her, I will not be buying more sessions.

I will be expecting a refund for my sessions that have been wasted and damaging to my skin/hair and mental health over the past 2 years. Not to forget the amount of time I have spent trying to find a fix for my ‘skin condition’ when reality there I nothing wrong with my skin but rather the treatments themselves.

I have written emails to skinspaceUK and mentioned this situation on many occasions during my appointments, yet no one is providing an answer and the manager never seems to be around when I ask for her during my appointments.

It is so unprofessional that my personal treatment was changed and I was not made aware nor was this major mistake picked up on. I have been paying for a treatment that is not right for me and was never considered as right for me in my initial consultation. Yet now that I am being treated with the originally recommended laser/ setting, all is normal.
