Remortgage was quick and simple. No problems.

I would give 0 stars if it were an option. Shocking on every level, took nearly 8 weeks to complete a simple re-mortgage, argued with me on the phone when i questioned their incompetence, takes days to get a response by email, rang and asked for my "case handler" never put through, dragged everything out with zero communication I asked to put a complaint in she said it would be emailed, I've read the email and it says to phone and ask for case handler which i had been told not available in that call, or ask for supervisor of the case handler, so she could have just put me through whilst on the phone?! next it says to write but again i do not have the name to address it to so I've emailed and 5 days later still no response. AVOID.

Solex was recommended and staff worked promptly and communicated well through the purchase of our recent property. Our communication was by email and phone and everything was straightforward. When there are uncertainties you need to be assured that your representatives are reliable - I found that to be the case.

I was replacing a btl mortgage on a flat and it was crucial that the new mortgage was completed on the 1st June as Lloyds would not extend their offer after that date and any new offer would be at a much higher rate. If i paid the existing TSB mortgage any earlier i would have been charged over £500 early payment penalty. So we had only one shot at completing the mortgage. Every time i rang one of Genevieve Snow's team answered the call promptly and was able to deal with my question. Everything went through smoothly and on time. Their communications were excellent and i liked the way tasks were flagged up and progress was shown on my account page on their mortgage tracking site. One of my best solicitor experiences as a landlord and i can highly recommend Solex.

I cannot rate Solex Legal Services enough. My mother in law recommended them for our remortgage after having a sales and purchase go through and she was very impressed by the speed and communication. We totally agree, we couldn’t fault the service. I would highly recommend.

We recently appointed Solex for our sales and purchase and was absolutely delighted with the service. It was a horrific experience with the other sides but our Conveyancers Fiona and Sneha were amazing. They kept us fully informed throughout the whole process and was able to put our minds at ease that this service is complicated at times but you just have to allow the process to move forward which it did. The star ratings do not allow for the actual review because we would certainly score Solex more than 5 stars! Highly recommend this firm.

Poor Service, as they are least bother to speak to their clients. In my case they did not spoke to me at all, I requested many times but they did not. My case was quite simple it was simple equity transfer and they took more than two months to do the simple completion.

I would strongly suggest people to be careful and consider timing before choosing Solex as your solicitor

I had to use Solex as they were who the bank instructed for my remortgage.
They were an absolute nightmare.
I was already concerned prior to starting due to reading the reviews.
But from the beginning to the end they were awful, to the point I was in tears at one stage and almost lost my house due to their incompetence.
They messed up from sending legal documents to an incorrect address (I also received legal documentation which was for a business) to going against the wishes of the bank and refusing to continue with my mortgage.
They do not keep you updated and they are incredibly slow at every stage.
Avoid if you have the option!

Absolutely terrible. You will not get a solicitor. You will have a group of young clueless girls who are rude! That take calls and you won’t ever speak to Yvonne . I’ve been only transferring deeds since December! They are so bad that even complaining for two months no future along and no call back. Never use them ever!

Completely useless, caused me to miss out on my mortgage agreement so my mortgage is now £100 a month more in interest.
Have left me stuck on a variable rate for months because the can’t complete a simple transfer of equity and remortgage.
Literally costing me £100’s a month while I’m stuck on these current mortgage rates.
I call them constantly, latest call today as I still haven’t heard anything ‘oh we have a email from the outgoing parties solicitors from the 31st of January we need to respond to’
So we are at the 16th feb and they still haven’t responded to an email??
I am so angry with them, they are costing me money and causing me huge amounts of anxiety whilst wasting my time having to chase them constantly.
If I was this useless at my job, I would have no customers.
Avoid Solex legal services at all costs. Incompetent useless people who can’t do their jobs.

Tried and failed to use them for conveyancing via Halifax. They initially tried to remortgage a completely different property, despite us telling them the address was wrong. They constantly got my (common) surname wrong. They then failed to reply to emails and phone calls on key issue for case for over 2 months. Finally they sent legal paperwork out which was factually incorrect and confused roles of two different people at most basic level. Avoid this firm at all costs - they are the worst conveyancers I've ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Started a remortage through Halifax, who are using Solex Legal Service for the legal work.
Already having problems with Solex less than a week after starting the process.
Why would a big bank like Halifax want to work with this company, my experince so far matching the 1 star reviews on this website and I am considering pulling out of the remortage due to Solex rather than trying to continue through Solex.

Awful company. Impossible to get help or advice. Will avoid at all costs in the future.

Ok, I have a flat and I'm a landlord, so its always slightly complicated to remortgage, lease's and AST of the tenants. 5 years ago with another firm I had a totally miserable experience. So this time, credit where credit due, I can't fault the service, I remortgaged when Liz Truss was making a complete howler of the economy, I went from a choice of 90 mortgages down to 5 in a matter of days, so you can imaging how busy Solex were during this time, and yes it took 30 minutes to get through initially, but the call wait times reduced as economic normality returned. Shout out to Sarah Shaw, who was brilliant at explaining what was required of me, and there are others just as good. I complete on 1st of Feb. Thank you so much.

This company is terrible. They couldn't give accurate advice on how to cross the road. I have never one been about to speak to my case handler. I always get a switchboard. I have a simple transfer of equity that should have been completed in 4-6 weeks, we are going on 6 months. Rude, they wont advise properly. I would avoid them.

1) They fail to communicate via email, which is often ignored, and the excuse is they are receiving a high volume of emails. Infact communication is so poor; you might as well give up.
2) They keep you on hold on the phone for over 30 minutes and then when you eventually get through, they seem to cut you off.
3) The entire process took over 6 months and there were countless moments where Halifax contacted us to remind us of our mortgage offer would run out by the 31 December!
4) The website is not particularly user friendly, and they will only accept certain uploads in tiff or PDF format.
5) They lose signed copies of documents several times despite sending items recorded deliver.
6) The staff are nothing but rude and don’t accept responsibility for their mistakes.

I would not use these people by choice they are absolutely awful.

An absolute joke! There are too many individual aspected to name here but the bottom line is I had a portfolio mortgage secured on two properties, to be paid off with two new mortgages/products. So it was simply that the total owed would be paid off by the total raised but Solex made things extremely complicated resulting in a simple redemption statement taking weeks, missing the completion date once and almost missing it a second time. The only reason they did not was because I paid then £7,200 just to put it through even though I did not owe any money. The fact that when the funds went from me to them, from them to the mortgage lender and then back to me to the tune of £7,600, this shows that they owed me money and not the other way around. They did not seem to be able to do the simple task of connecting the two and kept saying that cannot 'query' the figure and instructed me to contact them and the lenders said to contact the solicitors! No wonder I got so frustrated that I just paid! Don't use them - more headache than it is worth!

Very smooth and simple process, good communication and a quick turnaround.

Multiple times throughout my application solex said they were cancelling my mortgage case, for paperwork they had chased me for. I had not received the paperwork, or had any emails, calls or voicemails asking for paperwork. Given the current interest rate increases, it was pretty scary to be told your mortgage case was being cancelled, however after calling solex they come up with some excuse saying it just meant the “automatic chasers” their system uses were being cancelled.

That aside, my mortgage has gone through and I’m waiting on a cheque for just under 3k which hasn’t shown up for 2 weeks.
