Excellence service - cannot praise Stephensons enough for their Professional service during our house conveyancing. A special shout out to paralegal Kate Williams, who was on the ball every step of the way, guiding us to sign documents early so we were ready to complete without delay, she replied to all of our email questions promptly, usually within an hour, keeping us informed throughout the whole process. Would highly recommend Stephensons to anybody buying or selling a home.

What a farce. Took half an hour to go through their checks to ensure they collect Legal Aid, Explained my problem that would involve several of their services. Because defendants are "protected" an excuse was offered that I should find a Solicitor who handles Medical Negligence...?? One of the fields these people claim to be expert in. Liars ... not lawyers, I would say.

This matter has substantial merit and goes to the interests of the entire nation. It could be the biggest case Britain has seen in a long time as it spreads into human rights and Police. ANY Solicitor interested in justice, would grab this opportunity with both arms wide open, yet I am told to find another Solicitor? Why bother if there is no case? It escapes logic. My knowledge of law is above average having fought and won injustices before. What's up here? Selective justice?

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. This firm is only interested in parting anyone with their money. A farce.

Kind and helpful with dealing with a situation.

I am currently involved in an ongoing legal matter and, while I am not making a formal complaint at this stage, I feel it is important to record my experience of the service I have received from Joanne Ellis.

Unfortunately, I have found the service extremely disappointing and frustrating.

My concerns are not simply about disagreements over legal strategy. They relate to the standard of communication, the accuracy of information being dealt with, the level of support provided and, most importantly, what I experienced as a lack of meaningful advocacy on my behalf.

There were repeated occasions where responses were delayed or I was left without clear legal guidance when I needed it. I provided detailed information about my circumstances, but I subsequently found that important information had been misunderstood or was not accurately reflected.

I also found myself having to undertake a substantial amount of work that I had expected my solicitor to assist with. This was particularly frustrating because I instructed a solicitor precisely because I needed professional legal support and guidance.

One of the most revealing aspects of my experience was when another solicitor temporarily dealt with the matter. Despite having considerably less background knowledge, they provided much more prompt, clear and practical advice. The difference was considerable and made me question why I had struggled to obtain the same level of service previously.

I also felt that the interests of other parties involved in the administration or funding of the matter were sometimes given greater consideration than my interests as the client.

However, my greatest concern was the lack of advocacy.

I fully appreciate that a solicitor's role is not simply to agree with their client. Good legal advice should include explaining risks, challenging unrealistic expectations and considering sensible settlement options.

What I found difficult was feeling that I was repeatedly being encouraged to compromise, while the position of the other side was not being challenged with anything approaching the same level of determination.

There were occasions when I felt that Joanne Ellis was too quick to accept the other side's position and too reluctant to challenge it. I did not feel that my position was being robustly put forward or that I had someone genuinely advocating for my interests.

I also found it extremely frustrating to feel that I had to argue my own position while simultaneously relying on my solicitor to provide the legal expertise needed to support it.

I am not suggesting that a solicitor should pursue every argument a client wants regardless of its merits. What I expected was accurate advice, proper consideration of the facts, a clear explanation of my options and robust representation where appropriate.

Unfortunately, that has not been my experience to date.

Sophie and Holly were incredibly helpful, accurate and responsive throught the whole process.
We would have no doubts in recommending them and their services. Despite the complexity of our case their commitment and determination was second to none.

Stephensons handled the probate process for us when our uncle passed away, and because of the service we received, we turned to them to handle our recent conveyancing needs. We've had three properties to sell in total, my uncles , and our own two as we're also just about to move. The sale on the 1st property has just completed, we're about to exchange contracts on the second and draft contracts have been issued on the third. In what could potentially be a confusing process, given the three sales, all communication has been extremely clear, friendly communication and timely updates; the whole process has been extremely smooth and professional so far. Great service all round.
