Responsive and capable staff and engineer

I had to leave at a particular time for work as waiting on an annual gas safety check - this was after I missed two previously scheduled appointments as we had to nip out so very keen for it to happen

My email was answered very quickly to confirm engineer was attending presently and indeed he turned up that very minute!

Engineer polite and cordial and got on with the work diligently and quickly

Workers out of their depth on pump repair

The water pumps at our block of flats failed in July 2022. T Brown have made repeated visits and for many months were not aware that the pumps themselves were damaged. The pumps failed completely on more than one occasion after they visited, with total loss of water supply overnight. There were long periods of low water pressure. Near the end of 2022 they finally realised the pumps were damaged and said replacements had been ordered. In the meantime, they bypassed the pumps and left the building directly connected to the mains, meaning the pressure for flats on higher flats is substantially below what it needs to be. They said this work would be deprioritised during the cold weather - it was summer when they started! In 2023 they visited to install the pumps and said a valve had failed, causing the pump area to flood and ruin the electrics - expecting us to believe that this is an independent event that just happens to have occurred here. We are still left with no pumps, very low water pressure and no end in sight. Ealing Council - not T Brown directly - have told us that specialist consultants have been brought in to report on the repairs needed, and that there is no timescale for a resolution. That was on 20 March 2023. It is now 12 May 2023. The way this is going, it will soon be a year since this all started - and in all that time, they have failed to identify and resolve an issue even when it is known to be localised to pumps in a specific place. This work has been attempted by people radically out of their depth and if they didn’t know what they were doing, they needed to get someone else earlier. For weeks at a time, they have just left the issue. I have phoned T Brown three times for an update, and they lack the courtesy to reply. I wouldn’t be surprised if they reply to this asking for details so they can help, and I would view that as disingenuous and just for appearances; if they cared, they could have responded to a reasonable request for an update before now.

Update: 16 September 2023:

After calling a number of times, they eventually phoned me back and said that the work had been provisionally arranged for the week commencing 4 September 2023. No such work started. I have phoned numerous times, asking when it is going to be done. Each time, the person taking my call has said they are emailing the repairs team for an update and they’ll get back to me. Nobody ever gets back to me. The repairs team seem indifferent.

On 15 September, I phoned again and got the usual rubbish about how they’ll send an email to the repairs team, and they’d get back to me later, but that I could call again if they didn’t get back. Nobody got back - obviously.

I phoned again, later in the day. The operator tried to phone the repairs team, failed to get an answer, and (comically by now) asked if I was okay with her emailing them - again. When I said I wasn’t, she made another attempt and apparently spoke to someone called Lawrence who told her to pass on the message that he was currently out and would call me later in the day. No such call was received. Well done, Lawrence! You’ve managed to pour fuel on the fire and make this review even more negative than it already was!

This company has now had this problem for over 13 months, with no apparent progress. You have to repeatedly request updates, and by now it’s clear they just lie and have no intention of getting back to you. Their provisional repair dates are just that - provisional - and turn out to be totally useless. Then they just lie further about getting back to you when you reasonably request an update.

I just phoned and spoke to someone who said they’ll send an email to management to escalate. I’ve heard it all before; lies, and more lies; T Brown’s way of escalating is apparently to do nothing. After over ONE YEAR and the problem still unresolved, competent management would realise they needed to at least provide updates to prevent reputational damage, if nothing else. The indifference and lack of basic courtesy is stunning.

Update 18 September 2023:
Still no update. Phoned again. Got a man who said he didn’t think this was one of their jobs. This is after I had explained to him that they had been mishandling it for over a year. Eventually, he found some details and said that the repair work scheduled for 4 September by their contractor has been put on hold for health and safety reasons. No information on when it is going ahead, or if it is even going ahead. He said he’d “escalate” to management by email. Of course, nobody will get back to us with an update, because they can’t be bothered. T Brown is treating the residents here with contempt.

Rudest t brown workmen

I have them here again today converting bathroom to disabled access.- they started over a month ago no sign of them for two weeks until I complained to head office -three men only one working speaking Bulgarian laughing and joking .Extremely intimidating. I asked why all of them hear they said one is training this is not except-able. I have never had such rude individuals doing work in my house .T Brown are a disgrace .

Could not give a zero so no choice but to give one.

Here we go, full house repipe 5 weeks ago after pipes corroded within the concrete floors and caused massive leaks coming through ceilings buckets all over the place collecting water since 13 December 2022 works carried out on the 7th March 2023. Radiator needed to be replaced could not hang a double radiator
was left up against the wall for just over 2 weeks called today to hang Radiator, radiator out of line because the way the guy put radiator brackets up so now there's a fall in the radiator very noticeable. When pointed this out to the guy his reply was, oh well it is what it is put his head back looked up at the ceiling rolled he's eyes and carried on. I now have an un-level radiator up. Not only that I bought 2 x trv because wasnt not sure which one to go for amazing he thought he would just take the other one. Call T. Brown regarding this matter. Still waiting on a call back. T brown you are not getting away with this the way you treat people is disgusting. Still waiting on the making good of holes painting pipework and boxing in. So much of a 3 day turn around. Four months later and still not completed. Someone is going to pay for all this stress

Absolute shambles of a company

Absolute shambles of a company. I had no radiator in my front room since September and it’s now April. Constantly emailing them and still nothing has been done. Even told me they don’t have a complaints procedure. Engineers come and lie to your face then leave and never return. I’ve waited home for appointments over 5 times and they don’t turn up, yet if we miss appointments we can be charged. You call them and they say they will call back that day and it never happens. Absolutely shocking that the council would hire such an incompetent company.

This company is crap and a complete waste of space their workers are useless and don't know their backside from their elbow I have been waiting for a plastic condenser pipe to be replaced in my kitchen since before Christmas on first visit said they have to order parts it's on a piece of plastic and a plastic bend not like its a major part been let down three times now they phoned up on 3/3/2023 saying they were coming out on 9/3/2023 this Thursday in fact let's see if this unforseen miracle happens if I was my own property and not run by the council I would definitely not be using this company and advise anyone else likewise

Despite waiting 5weeks ,and having three visits by t brown staff , just to flush one radiator in the sitting room , job still hasn't been done , they seem that they do not want to do the job , probably to much work , now I am informed that I have to wait nearly three weeks more , which adds up to almost eight weeks to flush one radiator , also I have to have a morning appointment as they don't flush radiators in the afternoon , that is a joke ,just like this so called company

T Brown group Ltd must be the worst company I have dealt with in the last 30 years.
They told me the wet room conversion would take about 10 days and here we are three months later, and I still do not have a working tap at the sink in the bathroom.
They sent a fitter called Craig and he was a complete waste of space. He turned up when he felt like it and left early each day. I got so fed up I went away and to sunnier climbs until they finished the job and back in January to a real mess in my flat (don’t think he knew what hoover was) he worked yesterday and completely bodged up the work he was supposed to do
I live in, hope that it will eventually be done
PS grab rail that he fitted yesterday came out the wall on the first grab as I am disabled was very dangerous

Why do Hyde Housing use this waste of space of a Company?

My problems began with TBrown on 3/2/2023 when I was booked for a 2-8pm appointment to fix a leak in one of the pipes at the bottom of the boiler, which was resulting in loss of pressure. The boiler went from one extreme to the other, resulting in the air pressure going too high after a while, so this needed to be repaired as well. The engineer arrived just after 7.30pm ,but did not seem to be very interested in fixing the issue but was more interested in going home, despite having two more jobs that he needed to do. I told him about the leak, to which he said that there wasn't? He poked around in the boiler, reduced the air pressure and stated that if it should happen again, call TBrown again, but in the meantime, the boiler is safe to use.
However, I woke up to the boiler leaking large amounts of water at 6.30am the following morning. I rang TBrown, explaining the situation and I stated that had the engineer done his job properly, this would not have happened!
I waited until 4.30pm for an engineer to arrive, only to be told that he can't examine the boiler as the components are soaked with water and that it would be dangerous.
They rang me on 5/2/23 to book an appointment for the boiler to be fixed.
I took the morning off work. The engineers arrived but informed me that two pipes in the back of the boiler are cracked and needed replacing and these parts needed to be ordered, to be fitted for 7/2/2023.
Had to take early leave from my job in order to honour this appointment, which was scheduled for 2-8pm.
I waited 7 hrs and during that time I rang them multiple times to make sure someone would be coming. Each time I was assured that someone would be there by 8pm.
7.55pm came and no sign of the engineer. When I rang again, that's when they decided to inform me that the parts in question could not be ordered and that nobody would be able to come out.
To say I was furious would be an understatement. The following morning i demanded to speak to the supervisor, who issued a grovelling apology, but as I said, it's pointless apologising if they same thing keeps happening again.
He assured me that someone would be out to fix it on 13/2/2023, which would make it a week being without heating and hot water. The engineer arrived at the agreed time and date and fixed the boiler... Or so I thought?
Later that evening, the pressure dropped down well below 0.5 bars and the boiler ended up cutting out.
When I looked, there is now a leak at the bottom of the boiler, plus the heating (when it was working) was affecting the water pressure on the my hot water tap on my sink in the bathroom.
Rang them on the 14th to inform them and suprise, suprise, they stuck me on another 2-8pm slot today and its 6.43pm and I'm still waiting. I've rang and I've been assured by customer services that someone will definitely be out, although I heard this same statement previously when it turned out that nobody came.
I'm just angry, disgusted and beyond fed up with this company and why Hyde Housing continue to use them is beyond me, as these reviews alone are damming to say the least.
I've lost 3 days wages due to their failure to do a job which should be so simple. What makes it worse is that I'm getting two statements from the engineers as the ones who came out yesterday stated that he could not see any evidence of any pipes being broken but yet you both work for the same company??? Make it make sense please!!
The engineer finally arrived this evening and after some examination of the pipe in which the leak was coming from, he confirmed the issue that it was the leak that is affecting the air pressure and causing it to drop and that the pipe in question is extremely easy to get hold of so the job really should not take very long. Unfortunately because he arrived late, he could not fix the issue as he didn't have the required part to hand but to ring them in the morning.
I just want this issue resolved ASAP, as this has been dragging on since the 3/2/2023 and I'm beyond frustrated.
I'm now going to have to chase them again in the morning but from this review, I hope that people understand that this company really is unfit for purpose.

9 times out of 10 bad service

My experience with T Brown is one of mainly bad or untrained engineers. Or not turning up at all and having to call to chase them up. Being giving the same tired excuses time and time again by customer services. Have left me once for 3 months with no heating or hot water as sent engineers who said it was fixed and a few minutes after they left same problem again. Needed parts they'd turn up without parts or not know how to fit them and one memorable occasion an engineer left his rubbish on my bedroom floor including a bag with water in it from the radiatorthat went all over my bedroom floor when I picked it up. This most recent time they were due out on Friday 3 February between 8am and 2pm didn't come turned up at 9pm spent10 mins said water pressure. Went off few days later no heating or hot water at all. I'm disabled and this doesn't bother them. Last Friday engineer came again in the 8am to 2pm time slot spent more time here than the previous engineer said it was the pump he had a new one but couldn't fit it as there was also a problem with the valve. He bothered to take time to see what the problem was. Now I need to rebook the job to be done by Tuesday hopefully. I only got T Brown moving by contacting my housing who emailed them saying it would go to a complaint. So for every good engineer or customer service rep they have they have many more bad ones. If I didn't have deal with them I wouldn't the mention of their name fills me with dread but my housing association have a contract with them.

If I could give the 0 Stars I would! I have had no hot water or heating as my boiler is screaming at me! I have spent the last four hours trying to get through to ANYBODY! You are put in a queue and after 7 mins the phone just goes silent! 👀 This is a disgusting way to run a company! I’ve even emailed to no avail! I have disabled children who are hysterical at the noise as the boiler is in their room! God knows why Councils accept this companies bids for service as their service is disgusting! Why have a phone system, if you can’t get through to report repairs!

Excellent service

Excellent service. Engineer’s are polite, efficient and tidy up when job is completed.
When you ring the call centre, you are not on hold for long. The wonderful people who answer the phone are so helpful and kind. They really listen to you and your needs and are willing to go that extra mile for you. They are always well informed and extremely polite. I would highly recommend using this company. They get 5 stars from me!

Lied and negligent

I would give half star if possible, I reported issue with hot water and the guy came around between 5-6pmish, turned my boiler thermostat to the highest and took pictures. Told me he report it as it need investigation and the team will get back to me to arrange for a workman to investigation and repair. But in actual fact, he closed the report as repair finished 🙄... scrupulous and unprofessional

Top Quality Yet Again

I had a gas cooker fitted a couple of days ago (regrettably not by T Brown) and the engineer pointed out a couple of problems which he described as putting my boiler set up "at risk." At his suggestion, yesterday I forwarded his official report to T.Brown and they sent an engineer within 24 hours to check. Not only was I reassured that everything is fine but was given a full and thorough explanation of why this is so and the other firm's engineer was incorrect. Today's engineer, Michael, had visited me before some time ago and not only remembered our conversation about my name but those around other topics raised during his previous visit. It was a pleasure to see him again and his calm, expert explanation of why my boiler set up is perfectly fine left me completely reassured. Thank you Michael and your colleagues who arranged your inspection to happen so quickly.

Worst housing repairs company.

If you’re unfortunate enough to have this company as your housing repair sun contractor you will already know nothing will be done re your problem, you will be fobbed off mutiple times by contractors and surveyors and you won’t have your issues resolved. Lucky enough for t brown they will continue to keep these contracts as social housing has a woeful lack of company’s willing to take on jobs and contracts like these. Be very wary if you do encounter this company and even think of taking them on you will regret it.
