I was a loyal customer for years, but no customer should be treated the way I was.

This was not a single mistake. There were multiple errors, including my booking being incorrectly recorded by the business, and the owner’s handling of the situation caused unnecessary concern about the use of my personal information.

When I raised these concerns, I was met with a dismissive response rather than clear communication. Even after I provided the business’s own booking confirmation clearly showing the correct booking date, my concerns continued to be dismissed instead of being properly reviewed.

By the time the business finally accepted that the errors were its own, I had already spent hours of unnecessary time and effort simply trying to understand what had happened. There was no apology, no acknowledgement of the inconvenience or unnecessary concern caused, and no recognition of the way I had been treated. Instead, I was made to feel like I was the problem for asking reasonable questions.

The mistakes were the business’s. The decision to dismiss the facts, withhold an apology and make a customer feel like an inconvenience was the owner’s. After years of supporting this business and recommending it to others, I can no longer recommend it myself.

Unfortunately no stars wasn’t an option. I made an order on 28 November for a delivery on 23 December. When the cheese arrived one cheese was supposed to weigh 250g but was only 150g another should have been 500g but was only 175g. I had been charged for the full amount when ordering. Now I fully appreciate things can go wrong so gave them the benefit of the doubt and emailed them with photos of the discrepancies. Also the cashel which was only 175g had been cut as a round rather than a wedge and was very dry and crumbly so thrown away. They emailed me back on 28 December saying they had refunded the difference, no explanation for the reason for the short weight. It’s now 13 January and no refund has been received. I’ve emailed several times and when they finally respond it’s a case of it takes 10 workings days for the bank to send the money, the latest is we didn’t have your bank details. Do not buy from these people, if they can’t cope with online shopping they shouldn’t offer it. Sending short weighted goods is illegal. I waited to submit a review giving them the benefit of the doubt but my patience has fully expired.

If you think you have had a good toasty, you haven’t until you have been here. Just amazing! Oh the baked potato was good too!!!

Delicious food, beautifully presented by helpful and cheerful staff. Excellent value too. We came for an evening meal but it would be a brilliant pre theatre choice or ideal lunch stop. Our group has varied taste and appetite so we were particularly pleased that there was something that suited everyone! We will definitely return.

What a wonderful little setup, they have a Wednesday night special, 5 cheeses and a glass of wine for £16 per person. The setting is fantastic, the staff attentive and helpful, fabulous cheeses to choose from. Will definitely be back to try charcuterie.

We went to their little restaurant above the shop tonight for our 9th wedding anniversary. The cheeses were delicious, sourdough was delicious, the chicken my husband had he said was amazing (we also ordered gnocchi but were very full by this point!). We both had two drinks as well, and was all about £40 each - so reasonably priced.
We were served quickly and the service was very good. Will definitely come back.

We were sent a gift of cheese works cheeses by my sister as a Christmas present. They were supposed to arrive the Friday before Christmas but didn’t. On Monday my sister received notification that they had been delivered but it wasn’t our house. When we went around to that house to check the people said that a delivery had been attempted but they had told the courier it was the wrong address. The following day the cheeses did eventually get delivered to our house but one of the cheeses ( a Cornish jarg) was covered in white mould. Altogether it was a very disappointing experience and the most upsetting is that my sister has received notification apology or compensation from Cheeseworks. I would strongly advise against using this company.

I ordered a cheese gift box from The CheeseWorks on 16th December with a selection of cheeses as a gift to my sister who was hosting many people over the Christmas period. When I placed the order the delivery date given was 20th December. I subsequently received notification from the delivery company APC that delivery would be on 23rd December. I let my sister know so that someone would be in to receive it. I then had a message from APC to say they had delivered the cheese and 'left it as per instructions' but no instructions had been given, and someone was waiting in the house. I rang the delivery company who said the package had been left at a property with a different housename. My sister went there and also around the neighbours asking but no-one had received it. I tried to ring The Cheeseworks but no-one answered the phone. I also sent an email through their website but did not get a response. The following day I received another message from APC who said they were going to deliver it on 24th, so presumably the package had actually gone back to the depot. I then received a delivery notification that the parcel had been left as per instructions (although someone was in). I rang my sister to tell her and having looked around the property she found the package in the porch. To add insult to injury, one of the specially chosen cheeses had been substituted without any explanation, and I sent a second email to complain but have had no response. Finally to cap it all the cheese opened today was mouldy (presumably from inappropriate storage conditions during delivery). I am hugely disappointed with the service from this company and embarrassed about the poor 'experience' that I gifted to my sister, but having read recent reviews I gather that other people have had similar issues so this was not an unfortunate one-off.

Love this little family run business! The owners, staff and their shop is so warming and welcoming every time I visit! Also super knowledgeable with answering all my questions and recommending the right products. Had my package delivered today with amazing quality products, on time and packaged well, cannot wait to tuck into it! Wouldn't be a same Christmas without the Cotswold Cheeseworks! 🥳Highly recommend, five stars! 🤩

I have purchased from The CheeseWorks for a number of years. Placed an order for Christmas back at the end of November. Elected to have it delivered on 20th December, later dates were unavailable. The 20th arrived and no notification from a courier or from the shop. Tried to call multiple times that day and when it wasn’t engaged it just rang out. Emailed the shop via website, Facebook and PayPal email addresses, no reply to any of them. Very disappointed not to get any response. I understand this is a small family business but if you are going to offer an online service then you should offer some customer service. I finally received a notification from the courier to say they would be delivering my order on 23rd, it also stated that the order was dispatched on the 20th. So it will now be sat in the courier’s unsanitary warehouse at ambient temperature. Totally unsatisfactory!.
Since leaving a review on Facebook and comment on a post I’ve now been blocked on Facebook. Clearly a very unprofessional business and very pathetic reaction to a poor review.

Made an order for a dinner party of a specific cheese that a guest had suggested, with a fortnight lead time. Delivery never happened. After multiple calls that just cut out after ringing ages I emailed and didn't get a response to that either.

I got to sample some of their cheese at a wine & cheese tasting event at the Old Courthouse this evening. The goats cheese is still disgusting (in my personal opinion) but all the other cheeses are delicious. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely day in Cheltenham, and found this lovely Cheese shop. Brilliant selection of cheese's very friendly helpful staff. Taste samples of cheese were offered, will definitely be ordering a few hampers for christmas gifts.

The best range of cheeses in Cheltenham, always in perfect condition. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. Free samples are often offered before deciding what to buy. Xmas deliveries anywhere in Uk very reliable. Web site helps with this.

What an excellent selection of cheeses and the staff were very friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my French compte cheese, it was the same quality as I have when visiting France. Will definitely be buying more and well worth a visit when you come to Cheltenham.
