The playmat overall is great
The playmat overall is great, nice and soft. I love the neutral colors. But I can’t ignore the fact that they have an awful smell… at first I wasn’t sure whether I should let my baby use it. But then after sanitising, the smell kind of faded a bit so I decided not to return it. I’m disappointed because I really love the product…

I am sorry to hear that you were not 100% happy with the playmat that you purchased from us. Unfortunately, by removing toxic chemicals from the production, including formamide, to ensure that they are as safe as possible for little ones, they are left with a smell that would not be there otherwise. The smell however does fade with time, leaving out to air and wiping it down help to speed up the process

Tired of being fobbed off by this…
Tired of being fobbed off by this company.
Have been waiting for an item that was out of stock to become available again. Three weeks ago I got an email to tell me it was back in stock. I ordered it, and another item at the same time.
I’m still waiting for them.
when my order didn’t arrive after a week I tried to contact them. Their phone lines close at 2pm????
I emailed and was told that the item I ordered (the one that was out of stock) was not in fact back in stock and that I had ‘pre-ordered’ it.
I don’t recall seeing any mention of this on the item page when I purchased it, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
I was told the item would be shipped within the next few days.
Well, a week later and I’ve still no items.
I emailed again (phone lines closed obviously) and was told that they would email their warehousing team and get back to me. Does no one use telephones anymore? Surely this could have been resolved with a quick call?
Or more importantly, surely their order and Despatch systems are linked and they can find this information with any effort.
I suspect this is a delaying tactic as they know full well that my order hasn’t been despatched. And if they don’t then they need to seriously rethink how their business operates.
I am so sick of companies treating their customers in this way. They’re happy to take orders (even for items they don’t have in stock apparently) but then their communication and Despatch processes are a joke
I am baffled as to how, with so much competition out there, these companies survive when they can’t even get the basics of online retail right.
I have noticed that they respond to negative comments on instagram almost instantly, regardless of the time. I would argue that this company wants create the perception of good customer service, whereas the reality is quite the opposite.
In response to the reply below from modern nursery:
You have a ‘notify me when this item is back in stock’ form on each product page. I entered my email address and was sent a notification 2 weeks later to tell me the product was in stock. There was no ‘pre-order’ information on the product page or I wouldn’t have bothered ordering. Why do you have a notification set up to let customers know that things still aren’t in stock???
Secondly, moving warehouses is one thing, but telling me you weren’t aware that my order hadn’t been Despatched. How does that work? Your order system must surely show my order as awaiting Despatch somewhere, right?
All in all very poor from this company.

I am so sorry for the disappointment caused in the service you received, we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our customers, and I am sorry that on this occasion we have let you down. I have taken a look into this and can see that one of the products you purchased was marked as pre-order with an extended lead time on the the product page and at the checkout at the time that your order was placed. We have been moving warehouse and the product that you purchased was on pre-order whilst it was moved from one warehouse to the other.
Based on the information we had, and that we passed on to you your order was expected to be delivered in the week commencing the 7th February. I am so sorry that we were unaware of the delay with your order until you understandably chased for an update on the 10th, and I can see that all calls and emails were responded to within 1-2 working days. Unfortunately, we work remotely so are not able to see for ourselves and rely on information provided by our warehouse team.
Our Customer Service Team are available between the hours of 9:30am and 2:30pm, via email, chat and phone, and all offline chats and phone calls received outside of these hours are responded to. Our Social Media team is managed separately, and they work different hours, I am sorry for any confusion or disappointment that this caused.
I can see that your refund has now been processed and you should have received both an email from the team and an automated email confirming this.
Once again I am so sorry for any disappointment caused and one of our team will be in touch soon.

We have the gorgeous rose scallops play mat in my little girls nursery. I love the colour and pattern. It just makes the room ane means my little girl has a comfy and safe place to play. This will come in really handy when my newborn arrives in a few months too.
