Very Unprofessional Experience From Start to Finish
I’m genuinely surprised this groomer still has a 3.2-star rating on Trustpilot given there's a recent review appears to be 1 star.
My experience was disappointing from the very first phone call. I contacted her last week to enquire about booking a grooming appointment for my kitten. As a first-time cat owner, I simply had a few questions before confirming a booking.
During the conversation, the tone felt quite dismissive and unwelcoming. She repeatedly emphasised how experienced she is and spoke in a way that felt somewhat condescending because I am new to cat ownership. I asked about grooming options, specifically whether a water bath might be possible and how it compares to a waterless bath. I understand that water baths can sometimes stress cats, and I was only seeking professional advice on what might be best.
Instead of explaining this calmly, I was told that giving my cat a water bath would be “torturing” my cat. I found this comment unnecessary and unprofessional, especially when I was simply trying to learn what would be appropriate for my kitten.
I did not confirm the booking at the time because I felt uncomfortable with the tone of the conversation. However, this morning she messaged me again asking if I was still interested in the grooming appointment. Although I was hesitant after the earlier interaction, I do need my kitten to be groomed, so I decided to confirm the booking.
Before she arrived, I had already sent my full home address along with clear instructions on how to find my flat. Shortly before the appointment, she called and asked where my place was. From our window we could see that she had parked in a random area of the building where parking is restricted.
While she was on the phone asking for directions, my husband kindly informed her that she should park in the visitor parking area to avoid being fined. She replied “thanks”, but in what came across as an annoyed tone, and then ended the call quite abruptly.
We continued looking out the window to see if she had managed to find the visitor parking space, as she mentioned during the call that she could not locate it. In reality, the visitor parking area was directly behind her car. A short while later, we saw her drive away without any further communication. The appointment was effectively cancelled without any message or explanation.
The interaction felt very unprofessional and discourteous. From the phone call to the way the appointment was handled, the level of customer service was extremely disappointing.
After this experience, I decided to look up her reviews online and realised there are many negative reviews on Trustpilot. In hindsight, I should have done more research before contacting her. I also noticed from other reviews that the business appears to have operated under different company names. I originally contacted her through a website called “The Mobile Cat Groomer”.
In the end, it may be for the best that the appointment did not go ahead, as the overall experience did not give me confidence in how my kitten would have been treated.
Based on this experience, I would advise other pet owners to carefully review the feedback available online before booking. A professional groomer should communicate respectfully and handle appointments reliably, especially when working with pet owners who are simply seeking guidance.
