We booked part of our trip privately (Flight and some hotels) and Tribes were great to work flexibly with. I wanted a Costa Rica specialist and their service and knowledge is excellent. Also they work with Swiss Travel the most experience travel operator in CR and this shows in terms of quality of excursions and relationships with hotels.

From initial enquiry to completed trip we felt that this holiday was tailored completely to our requirements. A very detailed itinerary was provided and good support and updated information throughout the trip. All was as described and expected. Alex had listened, and excelled in his selection of remote lodges an abundance of accessible wildlife. The use of the Vamoos app was great and saved us carrying paperwork with us.

Fantastic trip, everything planned to perfection.

My wife was born and brought up in Tanzania and we had always wanted to go back and visit the places where she lived as a child. We had considered organising the trip ourselves as I’ve travelled extensively in my career and foreign travel is no mystery. However, on this particular trip we felt we needed some professional assistance in setting everything up. We started talking to tribes about 18 months ago and it was clear from the outset, they fully understood what we wanted to achieve from this trip. We wanted to visit some of the towns my wife had lived in as a child and then go on a Serengeti Safari, visit the Ngorongoro Crater and have a few days to unwind in Zanzibar before flying home.

Tribes put together a superb itinerary for us. Particularly as we were on a limited time for travel, we could only spare three weeks due to other family commitments.

We have just returned from our ‘African Adventure’ and are so delighted with the overall experience as it all went without a single hitch. As someone who has been to over one hundred countries that is an amazing feat.

We think we will return in a few years time, hopefully with our grandchildren and the first thing I will do is give Tribes a call. Tribes want me to do a little review.

Alex at Tribes booked some fantastic lodges for us in the rain forest, the hills and the OSA peninsula. He chose a less busy route so we felt as though we had a unique and informative experience. The organised tours were in small groups and the guides very knowledgeable. Jose from Chayote was a font of information and took us to eat at the local ‘Soda’ which we both enjoyed. One of the highlights was seeing a whale near Il Caño where we also saw dolphins and snorkelled with turtles and Rays under the guidance of our two brilliant guides.
Unfortunately the final hotel at San Antonio, though a 5* was possibly the least welcoming and after a wait of over 3.5 hours to access our room I did complain, and followed this with a further complaint when our ‘ garden view’ room looked out on to a large green electricity box and the fly screen fell off the door. The hotel staff ( no manager in sight despite a request)were very understanding, moved us to a better room and provided complimentary drinks.
Finally I can recommend the food in all the hotels, it was beautifully prepared and very tasty.

For the most part they were pretty good. Transfers etc all on time and where they should be. However we were really disappointed by one hotel and when we looked to move, the ground handlers were very unhelpful. Due to the time difference, Tribes were not able to help hugely and we had a few frustrating days.

So easy working with Andrew to tailor a holiday to our objectives and budget. The organisation from Tribes was brilliant and every transfer passed without even he smallest hitch. The hotels/ecocamp proposed were super and without fault. Locations superb and you even organised superb weather !!!

Tribes Travel organised a 10-day tour of Costa Rica for us and ensured we had a wonderful holiday experience. Everything was seamlessly organised and stress-free. We had all the information we needed, the accommodation was of very high standard and we even had access to 24-hour support via WhatsApp. We’d definitely recommend them!

Great trip to Costa Rica. Flora and fauna were magnificent. The organisation of the trip was flawless - every pick up, whether for a transfer or for an excursion, was on time. All of the transfers were good. Three of our five hotels were absolutely fine. One was exceptional. The fifth was under par (they were doing a massive building project on site - so no lift to our fourth floor and constant noise). Would recommend the trip but have three bits of advice: (1) It rains more than you think in Costa Rica. The dry season just means less rain! Be prepared. (2) the place is expensive - I'd say on a par with California for eating out, drinking and even a cup of coffee. This surprised me. (3) Because its raining a lot of the time, free days aren't much use unless you fill them with more excursions (and there are a load to do worth doing). This, of course, costs extra and, see (2) at Cali costs. Budget to spend a lot of money while on the trip!

Orgainsation of trip was excellent

Good itinerary, good communication, good accommodation choices. Made a long trip easy with all the travel sorted and stayed in touch when our flight had to be diverted. Felt safe with all the trips and transport. I would recommend tribes and use them a
gain.

Tribes Travel planned almost our entire holiday for us, from hotels and excursions down to the transfers between resorts. All the hotels that were picked were simply amazing and the included tours were based on what we had advised right in our initial phonecall with Alex.

Once we were out in Costa Rica, they had a local travel company that they were partnered with, giving us local knowledge and help on the right time zone, particularly useful when we had a tour cancelled due to the weather and a confusion over a pickup, but any questions and issues were dealt with very quickly. I would definitely do it again.

From start to finish Christine from Tribes was absolutely amazing. Throughout the planning process she listened to all of our requests and hopes of how we envisaged our honeymoon and she went above and beyond to meet them. Our trip started with a safari staying at Governors Camp, what a gem of a place! We couldn't fault it, the atmosphere, the food and the staff were all amazing. Following our safari we then went to Chale Island. Again, what an incredible place! Everything was planned to perfection and everyone we met along the way were so helpful. We wish we could go back and do it again. Thank you Tribes and in particular Christine.

Everything worked well and as expected. The two camps were both excellent, with great service and our Driver/Guide for the whole trip was superb. We saw all the wildlife possible.
