Hostile manager

If I could give minus stars I would. I went to the Value Village in Sherbrooke,Qc, Canada. The manager was extremely aggressive and hostile. He threw the item I wanted to buy on the counter and said I was complaining for the sake of complaining. He was a true a hole and has no business being a manager.

I am very disappointed with the service…

I am very disappointed with the service at value village, Markham. First time I’m going in that store. I bought things worth $36 and it was labelled with the wrong size. I went home fit them on and decided to return for a refund because the bill says if you return the same day purchase it will be credited. When I got there I’m being told they don’t do refunds and I’m explaining to them that the bill states same day purchases will be credited. But the lady in the glasses blatantly was not understanding that and I am very disappointed with this because now I have to lose $36 and it is not fair or right.
I would like for management to deal with that lady because she refused to honor what the bill stated. I was told I still have 14 days to return and I can go to any value village but I came the same day I purchased for it to be credited. So what’s the use then. Furthermore nowhere in the store says no refund. This sucks.

I was recently in Value Village Sherwood Park and what a horrible experience. I waa in to return some items I had bought from another V.V. and I heard that this waa the the one I should go to for bettee merchandise. I also took in a donation. I waa there until they closed. When I walked in I told the woman I waa doung a return aa well so she told me to shop and they would do it all in on transaction. Well I only found a cpl things and so once it was all done I would have about $90 credit. The woman waa so rude she told me that I had to use it all so I told her to leave it I would come back another day to give me back my stuff I was returning. She would not give it proceeded to ring my new items there then threw it in a bag and left taking my old receipt with her. So now I have stuff I cant return without a receipt and cant use. She ripped me off $90 and I will never go back into that location again. I have told everyone I know to avoid that store because the Asian woman there waa dishonest and veey rude to customers. Im disgusted with how I waa treated and if I treated customers like that I would be fired. I assume she kept the stuff there is no evidence of any of it and she has the receipt so be careful its not a good place to go.

Summer Sale (NOT) Just to lure you in,

Summer Sale on clothes. WAS NOT ON ALL SUMMER CLOTHES. VERY SELECT and up to the disretion of the TEAM on that day. I even showed them the items listed in SUMMER CLOTHING ON THE MANUFACTURER....but NOPE. AND not shoes/sandals etc. Socks...also NOT INCLUDED. Dresses...NOPE and NOT even coverups for the BATHING SUITS!
Just sleeveless and shorts.
NOT summer shirts/skirts...UNLESS they decided they were summer!!!
THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO WEAR THESE 'SUMMER CLOTHES' IN THE FALL/WINTER!
I had 19 items...only accepted 3 of them. EVEN with the evidence of being SUMMER 2026!
THIS on top of BRUTAL lady who stood right behind people ringing their orders in. SHE IS NASTY! THE WORST!
I stop in to VV in Oakville (5 stars), Burlington (4.5 stars), Cambridge (4.5 stars), even Brampton (3.5 stars cuz it's dirty). BUT KITCHENER GATEWAY! ALL RUDE STAFF!!! GUYS TOO. But, NON ONE as bad a that older woman!
There WAS ONE polite staff...Long Black hair w ponytail. Sorry, i never got names. SHe helped explain to me. Was courteous and understanding.

PLUS PRICES! Not only in Kitchener, EVERYWHERE! This is certainly NOT the VV of even ONE year ago.
Prices sometimes higher that the FULL price retail Items marked higher that original DOLLAR STORE ITEMS!
DO NOT DONATE HERE!!!!
FIND A CHURCH, A BIN, ETC ETC POST FREE ON MARKETPLACE, CURBSIDE...NOT VV!

Value village Whitby @ kendlewood plaza

On Saturday July 25, 2026
I was at value village @ whitby (Kendalwood plaza ). I saw a woman (a value village employee come out of the store screaming and yelling at a man trying to unlock his bike. She was screaming at him trying to grab the bike from and accusing him of trying to steal the bike. It was so discusting..and she made quite the spectacle of herself and situation. She was beyond aggressive. She finally stopped and went inside the store as and the man went about his business getting on his bike. I came over to see if he was ok. He said " I guess im not allowed to have a bike if Im homeless ". This literally broke my heart. I gave him a small gift of $...and wished him well. As for that so called employee..she should be so ashamed of herself. Karma is real .

Disgraceful establishment

It is terrible that they have no dressing rooms so people can try things on. Have to wait to get home to try if not fitting right have to take back. All styles are different in sizes it doesn’t matter what size u think you are . Also not impressed that they don’t have debit at cashiers . There is only one cashier and she only takes cash. Therefore have to use debit machines. This store is going backwards instead of forward. Every other u go to have change rooms and debit machines at all cashiers. Horrible service. I might add these were self checkout machines.

Value Village is a joke

Value Village is a joke. I WORKED there. You should see what they do.
Customers are dropping off donations. And if the store doesn't feel like it's enough. They are not giving out coupons.
You can not return an item. Only exchange it for greater or higher value.
I had to watch the bathrooms. There were 2 bathrooms, but toucan not let a customer use the room to try things on..yet. you have to sit in front of the bathroom all day.
They throw items out if they don't sell. Rather than try to sell it in bins at a reduced price.
No cameras in certain parts of the store.... dangerous. And on that note. I DEALT with a creepy person. And the management did nothing to protect me.
They talk about the staff results and other company issues over the whole store intercom. So. Going the bathroom .. everyone knows it.
The head of casier does not know basic math. To add ( from a work/employee) type, immature and bullying is part of their daily practice.
They want you for full availability on the weekends. Yet schedule you only 4 hours.
They have no common sense.

I bought an electronic item from their branch in Coquitlam/port moody branch in Eagle Ridge and the guy who sold me, told if it doesn’t work bring it back less than 24 hrs. I took it back the same day. They said they can’t give me the store credit and asked me to go find something for exchange. I couldn’t find anything and asked the store manager to give me a store credit for another time. She refused.
What kind of regulation is that? Any store returns the item back or give a store credit?
I am so disappointed and never buy anything else from their stores and recommend every body to go to Salvation Army or Hospice instead. The store owner whoever he or she is, is a greedy person just taking advantage of economic situation from people who buys the second hand stuff. I am never going back to the value village. Their price is high and they don’t know how to do business in Canada!
Shame on you!

I’d give it no stars if that was an option this store is a disgusting example of corporate greed so many of the items are incomplete or just junk and severely overpriced. They are getting this stuff for free people donate in hopes of helping underprivileged people and this scumbag owner is trying to get rich off of that. The government should step in and ban these places or heavily fine them, so they will never dare overpriced an item again, or put junk incomplete garbage items out for sale. In the meantime, I would seek out Salvation Army stores. They have been traditionally a little more reasonable.

I just walked out of the value village…

I just walked out of the value village in Queensboro and I want to tell you about my experience. Found everything I was looking for, and went to go and pay. They have two self-pay’s open, and a lineup of five people ever growing. I saw two women standing around one watching the people trying to navigate the self checkouts and the other one putting stuff onto a shelf at the back of the people cash register. So I went to the people cash register and asked if I could get some service please and she says oh are you paying cash and I said no I’m not. She says then you could go to the self checkout. I said I don’t want to go to the self checkout. I want to actually talk to a person. She said go and talk to him over there and turned to continue what she was doing. I turned around and there was a no him, just the lineup I have already mentioned. There was one employee standing, watching the people struggling with the machine and went to help one of them, which didn’t appear to help. She went to help the other one, didn’t appear to help. I look around the lineup has grown even more. And they still have only two self checkouts open. What is wrong with you people? I mean, I appreciate the people who generally tend to shop in your stores might be a little less advantage than some, but you don’t need to treat them like crap. Customer service should be utmost in a business’ mind.

Queenston value village

Queenston value village

I purchased about 10 drinking glasses, but the store had run out of wrapping paper. I spent a long time carefully selecting the glasses and was very happy with them.

When I asked about paper for wrapping, instead of apologizing, the staff told me, “Unfortunately, we are out of paper. You can take them as they are. No one else has complained.”

I explained that I did not want to buy fragile glassware without proper wrapping. The Indian manager then said, “Just leave the store. Don’t buy them.”

Is this acceptable customer service? If I am paying full price, I expect basic customer service and reasonable care for fragile items.

I then went to a nearby thrift store, where I purchased several glasses and cups. The staff there politely wrapped everything in paper and treated me with courtesy and respect.

The difference in customer service was very noticeable.

I visit the Value Village Kelowna on a regular basis.

I visit the Value Village Kelowna on a almost daily routine. Searching for treasures. For the most part the staff are friendly and helpful. This makes the shopping experience more pleasurable. I would like to give a special note to Prachi who is always ready to be helpful and often I make a purchase on her suggestions. She is knowledgeable and we always have a great conversation which makes the days better.

Excellent Customer Service

I go to the Value Village in Rutland (Kelowna) a lot and I really appreciate the excellent customer service I receive from one employee in particular (Prachi). She always greets me, is professional, friendly, and very helpful. She makes suggestions about what might suit me and I end up purchasing more because of this. She is an asset to Value Village!

Value Village can’t have it both ways.

I had not shopped at Value Village for some time. So I was unaware of their return policy changes. When Covid hit, the store stopped providing change rooms to try things on. The return policy at the time was that you could return the items and get your money back. At some point that changed. Now you may only exchange items. There are two points I’d like to make about this. One is that if this policy unlike other for-profit stores is different, I think this should be mentioned at the counter. When you walk into a clothing store and you buy an item that is on sale, they tell you if that item can be returned or not. Secondly, I am shocked that this is a for-profit store. In that case, they should most certainly accept returns on clothing especially since a prices have climbed in recent years. I may go in and look at household items from time to time, but I certainly won’t be buying clothes there anymore.
