We were looking for a solar and battery solution. I spoke to a variety of vendors, starting at the Kingston Efficient Homes show.

Everyone else told me what I needed was what they had got, sometimes with a couple of flavours.

YEYW asked me what I was trying to achieve, and did I have any preferences about how I wanted to do that.

So on that basis we started a dialogue. This involved more consultation and a back-and-forth, maybe three or four times - what would this cost, what benefits?

We conducted plenty of diligence; YEYW gave me details of old and recent customers with requirements and designs similar to ours.

I concluded I wanted to have some roofing work done prior to the job. I got my own quotes; YEYW had their own sub-contractor, and I got a quote from him (three, in fact, as again I explored options).

I decided to go with YEYW and their roofer as a turnkey project; no relations between contractors to manage, and, incidentally, no VAT on the roof work, as it was part of a solar job.

Once I signed a contract, things moved briskly, but by agreement.

Work was scheduled throughout April, and completed on time.

We had one glitch, relating to safety and the scaffolding, which was addressed promptly, and sweetened with a panel upgrade.

Work completed by beginning of May, equipment commissioned, and we are now exporting about double what we use (which will change, of course, as the year turns).

Work was completed with an afternoon exploring the installation and how to get the best from it. Ongoing support is there once you are up and running.

YEYW; all in all, not cheap; very competent; attentive to the customer requirement; delivery on time, and to budget.

We also liked YEYW’s commitment to encouraging female employees into their workforce.

We’re talking to them now about a Heat Pump installation, in a year or two’s time.

As part of a house renovation, we needed to move our ASHP and hot water cylinder. The YEYW team came out and move the ASHP out of the way of the building work, and supplied the pipe work / cables that would be under the new part of the house. There was a bit of a hiccup, primarily from my naivety , over who was doing what (I thought the teams -builder and YEYW had spoken, and they hadn’t). Once this was sorted, the team came back and completed all the pipe work, commissioning our underfloor heat and getting the ASHP connected up. They lagged all the pipe work, and left the site in a much better state than when I originally had the ASHP installed. The team were polite, efficient and hard working.
