Sobre Young Architect Academy
Escrito por la empresa
Young Architect has been helping architects pass the ARE exam and earn their architecture license since 2013. For more than a decade, we have helped thousands of candidates navigate the path to licensure with one mission: make architect exam prep actually work for people with full-time jobs and real lives.
After experiencing the challenges of the ARE firsthand, licensed architect Michael Riscica founded Young Architect with a simple belief: nobody should have to navigate the path to licensure alone, guessing what to study, burning out, or wondering if they are even making progress.
The ARE Boot Camp is the flagship coaching program and it has been running since 2015. This is not a course you watch by yourself. It is live coaching with a real person guiding you through the entire architect registration exam process.
Weekly curriculum. Daily study groups. Real accountability. Boot Camp breaks the architect exam down into small, manageable pieces so you can keep working full-time and still make consistent progress toward passing.
After years of coaching candidates through the ARE, we\u2019ve learned something. The fastest way to find success on the ARE is to stop worrying about the minimum you need to know to pass.
Everyone wants to pass these exams. That is the whole reason we are here. But we approach it differently. We teach candidates to study with the intention of using this information on real projects with real clients. We use the architect exam as a launchpad toward a successful architecture career, not just a box to check.
That is what separates Young Architect from everyone else. They focus on passing an exam. We focus on creating great architects who pass exams.
Every course, every practice question, and every video we create is built directly from NCARB's published objectives. Those objectives define the exam, so they define everything we teach.
For candidates who prefer to study on their own schedule, the ARE 101 Membership is the most comprehensive set of self-paced ARE study materials available. Members get access to nine courses covering all six ARE 5.0 exam divisions, plus dedicated courses on AIA contracts, building codes, and building systems. Over 150 hours of video, thousands of practice questions, flashcards, and case studies. All available with a monthly subscription you can cancel anytime.
Young Architect also provides comprehensive preparation for CSI certification exams. CDT 101 prepares candidates for the CDT certification (Construction Documents Technologist) exam, CCCA 101 covers the Certified Construction Contract Administrator exam, and CCPR 101 prepares candidates for the Certified Construction Product Representative exam.
The Architect Exam Podcast is one of the most popular free resources in ARE exam preparation, with over 75 episodes covering construction knowledge, study strategies, and professional practice. New episodes are released every week, and most include free downloadable study notes so you can focus on learning instead of scrambling to take notes.
Whether you are preparing for the ARE, earning a CSI certification, or just beginning your journey toward licensure, Young Architect provides the coaching, courses, and community to help you succeed, not just on the exam, but throughout your career.

If you want to cross the finish line of…
If you want to cross the finish line of your ARE journey, the Young Architect Academy is the program to choose. Taking both the Pro-Practice and Technical bootcamps kept me incredibly motivated and held me accountable to my study goals. The video courses and practice questions are fantastic, and I love that Mike Riscica and his team are always available whenever I need support. I only have two exams left, and I am completely confident that YA Academy will help me pass them soon!

Carmen, it's been a pleasure working with you through both rounds of ARE Boot Camp. The dedication you bring to this process is obvious and it's been great to see your progress.
Thank you for recommending the program to everyone you meet. That means more to us than any review could. Word of mouth from people who've been through it is the best endorsement we could ask for.
Two exams left. You've got this. I'm excited to see you close out this chapter.
After struggling with PPD
After struggling with PPD, I finally buckled down and followed Michael and the crew’s recommendations for exam prep, and I passed!
The content, test taking strategies, and simple encouragement made such a difference. I went into the exam feeling more prepared and confident, and I am so grateful for the support along the way. It was exactly what I needed to get through this last exam!

Dawnelle, congratulations! Passing your last exam is a huge deal. You're a licensed architect now. Let that sink in.
PPD is the one that trips up more people than any other division, so the fact that you buckled down, trusted the process, and walked in feeling confident says everything about the work you put in.
The content and strategies helped, but you're the one who did the hard part. Thank you for coming back to share this with us. This is why we do what we do.
awesome free resource
i appreciate the deep dive into a certain topic; i appreciate no ads / commercials; i SUPER appreciate the 2-pay study guide for each episode. and i ultimately appreciate that this podcast is free. it's hard to come by ARE study material that is free.

The no ads thing is intentional. When you sit down to study, the last thing you need is someone trying to sell you a mattress in the middle of a building systems breakdown.
Glad the Architect Exam Podcast and the study notes are helping. Thanks for the review.
Young architect has been a great…
Young architect has been a great resource for the PA exam. Their explanations are clear, practical, and easy to visualize, which makes some of this difficult concepts much easier to process. I definitely recommend anyone studying for these exams to use them as a great resource.

Jorge, PA has a lot of concepts that are tough to picture in your head, so hearing that the visuals are helping it click is great to know. We put a lot of effort into making the Architect Exam Podcast content easy to process, not just easy to hear.
Thanks for recommending us. Good luck with PA.
Great free resource
The free podcast has been a great resource to supplement my resources for quick straight forward review.

Glad the Architect Exam Podcast is fitting into your study routine as a solid supplement. Straightforward is always the goal. Thanks for the review.
Highly recommend
The ARE podcasts by Michael Riscica and YA team are really helpful to prepare for the ARE exams. I have been using the technical podcasts and they are really easy to understand and they break down complex topics in simpler manner. The analogies they use to make one understand the topics, be it lighting or roofing, or any other topic are interesting to listen to and easy to grasp the concepts. That in turn helps reinforce force the material in my mind with deeper understanding. The notes they provide are really awesome so we can revise even after the podcast is over. The podcasts are rightly timed and can be listened to on your drive to work or while you are at home cooking your dinner. It is also great to watch the podcast on YouTube for all the clear and accurate graphics and notes. Highly recommend as a must use study material!

Jeseema, thank you for such a detailed review. The analogies are something we put a lot of thought into because when a concept connects to something familiar, it sticks in a way that reading a textbook just can't replicate.
Love that you're using the Architect Exam Podcast on your commute and while cooking. Those pockets of time add up fast, and the study notes give you something to come back to when you sit down to study.
It's been great having you in ARE Boot Camp. Excited to see you wrap up your exams.
100% recommend
I have been struggling to understand concepts such as AIA contracts and insurance terminology. The YA podcasts have broken down the subjects into analogies that I can easily remember. If you are struggling with any ARE concepts I would recommend giving YA a try!
6 de septiembre de 2026
Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
AIA contracts and insurance terminology are two of the toughest topics to wrap your head around because the language is so dense. That's exactly why we lean on analogies in the Architect Exam Podcast. If you can connect a concept to something familiar, it sticks.
Glad it's clicking for you. Thanks for recommending us.
ARE Podcast Top Ten Hit List!
I absolutely love the YA team and all their products but have really come to love and rely on all their materials produced from the 101 courses to the podcast! The large exam topics are broken down into smaller, more digestible segments that focus on explanation and why those items matter on both the exams and everyday practice. The podcasts allow me to take this knowledge with me on my phone, in the car, at the gym, or just out walking my dog! If you're not listening to these already, are you even studying for the exams? Seriously though, click play and thank me later...

Holly, "if you're not listening, are you even studying" might need to go on a t-shirt.
It's been a pleasure working with you in ARE Boot Camp. You bring great energy and it shows in how you're approaching this whole process.
The fact that the Architect Exam Podcast is with you in the car, at the gym, and on dog walks is exactly how it's designed to work. Those pockets of time add up fast and they keep the concepts fresh between study sessions.
Thanks for spreading the word. Excited to see you wrap this up.
Young Architect is an amazing resource
Young Architect is an amazing resource, especially the podcast! The podcast is free and provides so much valuable and practical information. I really enjoy listening to it, and I always feel like I’m using my time productively. Every episode gives me a better understanding of the topics discussed and leaves me with a lot of useful knowledge. Thank you for making such valuable content available for free!

Hela, thank you for the kind words. Making you feel like your time is well spent is one of the best things we can hear. There's nothing worse than sitting through something and feeling like you got nothing out of it, so we work hard to make every Architect Exam Podcast episode count.
Glad it's been helpful. Thanks for sticking with us.
I have tried all ARE test prep…
I have tried all ARE test prep resources and can therefore say, Young Architect is the best!!!! Michael and his team offer support in a way that is superior to the others. Come on, Michael gives out his personal phone number. I have had several coaching calls with him. Who else is doing this? He is dedicated to offering the best study materials and it shows!

Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
Kyle, this means a lot. It's been a real pleasure working with you in ARE Boot Camp. You've put in the work and I've seen it firsthand on our coaching calls.
The phone number thing is simple. This process is hard enough without feeling like you're doing it alone. If a quick call can help someone get unstuck, that's time well spent.
Thank you for trusting us with your journey. Keep pushing forward.
The BEST ARE podcasts
I've been listening to the podcasts and using the 2 pager notes for my ARE studies - it has been very valuable and the podcasts are well done, interesting not boring.

Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
"Interesting not boring" is one of the best compliments we could get. We work hard to make the Architect Exam Podcast something people actually want to listen to, not something they have to force themselves through.
Glad the study notes are adding value too. Thanks for the review, Kelly.
10/10
The Young Architect provides the structure, guidance, and support needed to stay on track toward your ARE goals while balancing a busy life, with amazing coaches, resources, and a supportive community that make the journey even better!

Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
Nancy, balancing a busy life with ARE prep is one of the hardest parts of this whole process, so hearing that the structure is helping you stay on track means a lot.
The coaches and community are what make ARE Boot Camp more than just study materials. Glad you're feeling that. Thanks for the kind words.
Big picture & Clear details
They give me a big picture of the important topics before I dive into the nitty-gritty details.
2 de septiembre de 2026
Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
That's exactly the approach. Understanding the big picture first makes the details make sense when you get there. Glad it's working for you. Thanks for the review.
Excellent information
Excellent information, support, and community. The mindset is not about just passing exams it’s about knowing the information so that you can be an effective and competent architect. I recommend 100% to anyone studying for the ARE.

Jeffrey, it's been a pleasure working with you through both rounds of ARE Boot Camp. You've put in the work and it shows.
You said it better than I could. The mindset shift is everything. No prep course, book, or video will have a bigger impact than adjusting the lens you look at this process through. Our goal is to create amazing architects, and passing the exams is just the byproduct of that.
Thanks for the kind words and for being part of this community. Keep going.

Having a structured study approach that was tailored to each division of the test, having an idea of what to expect along the way, and having it aligned with the objectives.

Superior Instruction Method
The method of instruction and graphics combined greatly help with memory of the concepts taught.

Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
Thank you! We put a lot of thought into pairing the instruction with visuals because concepts stick better when you can see them, not just hear them. Glad that approach is working for you and good luck on your NCIDQ exam.
The way complex material is simplified…
The way complex material is simplified has been one of the biggest reasons my experience has been so positive so far. When it comes to challenging topics like codes and building systems, having the material broken down into clear, easy-to-understand terms makes a huge difference. It has helped me better understand the concepts while also building my confidence as I work through the material.
Another standout aspect of the program is Michael’s availability and willingness to discuss my thoughts, answer questions, and provide guidance when I need it. That level of personal support goes above and beyond anything I have experienced with other study programs and has made the experience feel much more personalized and supportive.

Respuesta de Young Architect Academy
Elena, I really enjoyed our phone call and I'm glad we were able to put together a plan for your last three exams.
We also saw the message you sent about Building Codes 101 being helpful for you. That's great to hear, especially heading into PA where codes are such a big piece of the puzzle.
Making complex material feel approachable is what the whole Young Architect Academy team works toward every day. When candidates tell us the material is actually building their confidence, not just adding to the pile, that's how we know it's working.
Thank you for trusting us with this part of your journey. Go crush PA.
