Money transfer from one aib account to another aib account via card reader ona Friday at 20.00 ,was buying a car,they held payment because suspect fraud that's there excuse,won't pay someone out of hours to answer phone call to verify transaction was genuine, part time bank very dissatisfied, I'll be moving banks over this, waisted trip from Cork to dublin
This app needs improvement
This app needs improvement. While it supports facial recognition for log in and verifying transactions, payments to new payees are not saved unless paid via the website and a card reader is to hand. This is not acceptable. When moving to a new phone recently I was informed I would have to wait for a code to come in the post before the app on the new phone could be activated. This is crazy in 2024. Transferring Revolut took less than five minutes with no code in the post nonsense.
Unable to set-up online banking
Unable to set-up online banking and the customer service rep couldn't help with the issue so "transferred me" which meant leaving me for 15 mins until I was disconnected. How is this bank still going as it is so bad in its treatment of customers.

I really thought this was a real school. It’s not. I hope they spend my money responsibly. The last teacher clearly called me out thinking I was Alberta girl. They let them delete the comments but keep the grade the same. Do not join here as a woman.
Incompetent and useless
Incompetent and useless. I would give no stars if possible. I have tried without success to withdraw my money and met hurdle after hurdle. In complete contrast to when i opened my accounts 10 years ago. I have now decided to close the accounts because of this fiasco and I am even having difficulty closing the accounts. In 2024 i have to handwrite letters to their office before they will release my money to my bank account
AIB Car Insurance
Called AIB Car Insurance to update the details of a car I purchased. The person who I got put through let me know that as my insurance is up for renewal near the end of next month June they will not be issuing me with an insurance certificate disk for displaying as the Garda can now look it up on their system if needed. I have since been told by a member of the Garda that I could be fined and issued points for no display. After 5 years with this company, think that is poor service. Look like trying to force into renewing with them. Plus premium has increased by 150% with no claims. Something seems very wrong.
This review has no reflection of the AIB banking services which I find fantastic. Only positives about the banking. Unfortunately only negative about the insurance.
Flogging a dead horse
Went into a branch to enquire about online banking. Lady told me she would email a different department and get back to me. Lady decides not to inform me she is going on annual leave the next day.... 4 times in the last 3 weeks I've asked for an update only to be met with "I'll ring you once I find out". Disaster
An absolute nightmare
An absolute nightmare; they keep adding interest to my credit card even though I am paying it back every month and haven't used it since March. €70 interest just like that!! A disgrace!!!
Avoid
I have been with this bank for 25+ years but had to recently close my accounts as I found they made everyday banking impossible. In the end I could not make transactions on my credit card - the AIB response was that the vendors did not have the appropriate security software and I should contact the vendors (of which there were dozens) to inform them. I have wasted hours of my life on the phone to their support centre but they don’t seem able to resolve any issue. Seriously AIB, banking should not be this complicated and frustrating!

Shocking incompetence
Closed my credit card few months ago. Government stamp duty is €30. I have tried to pay off the stamp duty multiple times by visiting a Branch, calling card services at least 4 times. First time I was told that they took a payment from me although they hadn't asked me to provide my debit card details which I was holding in my hand for 20 minutes. When I asked the doubtfully how exactly the monies were paid they assured me it was paid. Next day I called card services and I was on hold for 55 minutes and I was told that the payment is OUTSTANDING and I can pay it now over the phone. They tried to transfer me to an agent and I was on hold fo about 15 minutes. Then I was told that the agents system crashed which is codeword for they have no clue what they are doing as systems don't just crash so easily. Then I got through to the agent and explained what I wanted to do, Without a warning I was placed on hold for 30 minutes. At last the agent was back and she told me that she needed to pull up my account. I told her that I have no confidence that she know what she is doing as it took her half an hour to pull up my account. By the way I have a mortgage with them as well. I told the lady that I wanted to speak to a manager. I was on hold again. When she came back she said that the manager was not available but I will receive a call later that day. That has never happened I doubt she spoke to a manager to be honest. Raised a complaint. I was called while being on a train abroad and I was assured that AIB would pay the stamp duty as I received horrible "service" and that I will receive a statement as I wanted evidence that my balance is zero. This was a month ago on the 5th April. Never received any statement only an invoice that I owe the €30 stamp duty. Made a second complaint couple of weeks ago to which I have not received any response. No letter after 5 working days, no phone call no statement nothing. Raised a third complaint just now. I want a closing balance statement on the credit card showing that AIB actually paid the stamp duty, I also wan a compensation, I have been working in Financial Services for the last 15 years and I am familiar with procedures and I know Banks would not hesitate to report anyone to the Central Credit Register who fails to pay this Government Stamp Duty. The only thing prevents me to do so is the incompetence of staff in AIB. Will go to the Ombudsman unless I receive a lightning fast response an evidence of my current balance on the credit card.

Went to the aib in bishopstown cork to pay my final payment and cancel my credit card. I was met by a extremely rude and very unhelpful women. She barley let me talk and directed me to a phone. I didn't have a clue what to do so I just left.
Absolutely no help, I understand if people are unhappy in there lives but it's important to stay professional at work.

A bank with no cash! They’ve lost the plot. My branch has been stripped. No till. Only ATMs. One rare occasion where I need a reasonable amount in cash. I can’t have my own money! Time to close both personal and company accounts then find a bank that is still a bank.
