Worst customer service ever!

Worst customer service ever!! There's no way to connect when there's a problem. No chat options. A phone call gets you in line behind over 500 callers. Waited 4 hours on hold and still no answer. App stinks! Added my husband as a passenger and only he got boarding passes. Just terrible...terrible.

Horrible

Horrible, Horrible!! Not worth the savings. 1st time I tried them from New Haven to Greenville,SC the flight was cancelled. At that time I tried to call them and I was 117th on hold. I chose the option to call me back when it was my turn and they never called. Today I tried the same route and flight is delayed from 5pm to 10 so far. Trying to call again and today I'm the 91st on hold

If you have lots of time to waste

If you have lots of time to waste, booking, figuring out your carry on and then waiting an hour plus for the flight that is delayed, go ahead and use these people. 2 flights in 5 days and both were delayed 1 and 2 hours. Then the plane was so cold that everyone was shivering plus, they yak at you the whole flight. I wish they would STFU and let me rest for a few minutes. I had to turn my head phones up to near deafening to drown out their pratteling.

Cancer patient left with no medication

We were at the airport for 14 hours before they canceled the flight and left us stranded. I couldn't get a flight for 4 days. I'm on cancer meds and had none. They had promised that if the flight was eventually canceled, they would have one the next day. They did not and no flights available for 4 days!! No one cared

Website is deceptive regarding…

Website is deceptive regarding cancelled flight arrangements, and they kept my money which I cannot use because they stopped flying to one destination out of 2 offered. Luggage arrived ripped and without wheels and they would not honor claim. Impossible to talk with anyone who has ability to make decisions. DO NOT USE THIS AIRLINE. You will be sorry if you do.

Airline is poorly run

Airline is poorly run. Cannot clear gates in timely manner. Keeps passengers locked in plane for over 90 minutes after arrival.

Refund denied

I had a credit from Avelo which I wanted to use. However, they no longer fly to my destination. Also, now they only have one destination from NY (my home) and I do not need to go to that city. I requested a monetary refund from them and was denied. It is so unfair because they no longer can accommodate my needs so they should give me a monetary refund.

Refused to refund Avelo Plus when they suddenly stopped service

We were using Avelo regularly for a family member to visit and for me to visit them. The flights we were able to use were fine (although good luck trying to get them on the phone for any reason). I am giving two stars for that.
Because of frequent use of their often affordable flights, I signed us both up for their new Avelo Plus program when it became available. I immediately went to book a flight for the usual route, and they had stopped service. No warning anywhere on the site in the weeks beforehand. When I signed up it even stated my home airport as the one we always used.
I requested a refund as we would no longer be using the airline since we do not travel where they fly. They refused any refunds, both on the phone and via email when I followed up that way.

Avelo Air is no longer offering service from Wilmington (ILM) to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ). We felt lucky that our trip was still happening - we were the last scheduled flight in and out of PUJ (the flights scheduled after ours were cancelled). They got us there Wednesday (January 21), scheduled to return on Saturday. The next day they cancelled our return flight, no reason. The email they sent wasn’t very specific: call Avelo customer service to reschedule (I thought they would book us on another airline with no extra charge). When we called Thursday there were close to 400 callers ahead of us, so we called the next morning. They finally called back almost nine hours later, offered a refund for the return flight only, and hung up on my (understandably upset) husband. We had to book a flight home on American; our extra total out-of-pocket was $1000+ for the two of us. The lesson we learned was that when there’s only one return flight a week (or ever) and it’s cancelled, you’re SOL. I’m only giving two stars because we had travelled previously on Avelo several times to different destinations and were very pleased with the service and pricing. Needless to say, Avelo has lost a return customer - we will not be flying with them again.

The worst website EVER! Keeps crashing and extremely slow.

The next day I asked the pilot who was staying at my hotel if the flight was a go and said he had no clue if the flight was rescheduled.

Never flying this airline again

Once again another trip on Avelo and another delay, why is there always delay when I have to use them. 12/02/25 a 3 hour delay, most of the time I don't mind being delayed on a few minute delay up to 1 hour. With this airline when time is on the line like this time they are late. I should have just used Amtrak. It would be a 24 hour trip, but had I left yesterday would have still arrived at my destination well rested and checked into my hotel on time. I have to get to an interview at 7 am on the December 3rd 2025. I was looking forward to landing at my destination on time, getting to my hotel that I had booked for the day and had time to prepare for the interview. The plane was scheduled to take off at 1906 and land at 2114 at my destination. Now the plane won't leave here until 2314 and arrive at my destination until after 0100 am. I will miss my ride to get to the hotel and now I have to pay twice as much when I do arrive at my destination. You don't honor your end of the contract then you should compensate your customer.

Incorrect flight itinerary + poor customer service

I’m extremely disappointed with my first experience flying with Avelo Airlines. My original flight was Grand Rapids to Raleigh on November 10, returning November 17. I changed the dates almost two hours before departure because a seat was available and paid an extra $60 for the change.

When I received my new confirmation, the itinerary was completely wrong — both flights were listed on November 10 and in reverse, showing Raleigh → Grand Rapids instead of Grand Rapids → Raleigh. That’s not a mistake I would ever make since my original booking already had the correct direction.

I went to the airport immediately to fix it, but the agent wasn’t helpful, and her supervisor, Parker, refused to come to the counter, saying I “should’ve been there earlier,” even though I had literally just rebooked less than two hours prior.

When I called customer service, they still wouldn’t fix the error. Instead, I was charged a 50% cancellation fee and only got Avelo credit for the $60 I paid — credit I don’t even want because I have no intention of flying with Avelo again.

This issue was clearly caused by an error in Avelo’s system, and the way it was handled was unprofessional and dismissive. I’d strongly caution anyone considering booking with Avelo — there’s no accountability when their system makes a mistake.

This is by far the worst customer service airline I”ve experienced and I mean the worse. I just contacted their CEO let’s see if he will respond, I’m giving him this chance before I blast them and explain in details what happened and file a complaint with DoT and BBB

Its a complete disappointment

Its a complete disappointment. They say its a cheap airline but its not. We ended paying the same amount as if we were going to travel in other airlines. Costumer service is a trash and they don't solve problems and if you email them they don't respond the issues. Please do not travel with this airline. Not worth it.

Scammed me out of my baggage fee

I paid for baggage upfront when I booked my flight and then when I got to the airport, they said I didn’t pay for it and had to pay for it. So I paid for it again and then when I got home, I reviewed my original reservation and I had paid for it. I asked them for my money back and they refused.

Both Flights Delayed — Avelo Wasted Over 13 Hours of My Time

Avelo Airlines has been a complete disappointment on both ends of my trip.

My first flight was scheduled for 8:00 AM, but it was delayed until 1:40 PM — nearly 6 hours of delay with barely any communication from the airline. No apology, no clear reason, and no compensation.

Now, on my way back, my return flight was supposed to leave at 11:30 AM, and it’s been delayed until 6:50 PM — another delay of more than 7 hours. That’s a total of over 13 hours of my time completely wasted by this airline.

Both delays have caused major disruption to my schedule, and Avelo’s staff has done very little to make it right.

I booked Avelo thinking it would be a budget-friendly option, but I’ve ended up paying for it in lost time, stress, and frustration. I will absolutely not be flying with Avelo again, and I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone who values reliability or basic customer service.

Disgusting and Inhumane – Avelo Should Be Ashamed

This was, without question, the WORST airline experience I have ever had. Avelo Airlines is not just unprofessional — it’s inhumane. The customer service was shockingly rude, cold, and completely lacking in empathy. It honestly felt like they trained their staff to not care.

What absolutely pushed me over the edge was their complete disregard for medical needs. I requested a simple seat change due to a medical condition and was told I had to pay extra. No compassion, no flexibility, just a cold “you’ll have to pay for that.” Absolutely disgusting.

They also have zero concern for families. We were told there’s no guarantee we could sit together — and they followed through on that threat. They separated our family across the plane, including placing my 7-year-old child with my 15-year-old, who they consider an “adult.” What kind of airline thinks it’s acceptable to leave a young child without a parent during a flight? That’s not just careless — it’s dangerous and unacceptable.

Their entire operation is a scam. They lure you in with so-called “low fares” and then nickel-and-dime you for every single thing: bags, seat assignments, boarding, even common decency. And for all that money? You get miserable service, rock-hard seats, and staff who treat you like you’re bothering them just by existing.

I left this experience feeling furious, disrespected, and honestly disturbed. Avelo is not just a bad airline — it is a disgrace. I will never fly with them again, and I’ll make sure everyone I know hears this story loud and clear. Shame on you, Avelo.
