Absolutely awful company don’t ever used them, charge extremely price, no packing boxes included, had our full payment for one day, then due to circumstances out of our hands the moving date was cancelled and they took 60% of our payment nearly £900. All they are bothered about is profit not customers

We had quotes from 3 companies and Ballards were the most expensive but we decided to go with them as they seemed more professional and fave us the most confidence. 4 blokes moved us on the day with a large lorry plus a van, they were very efficient and friendly and made a daunting task look like a piece of cake. They took care of all our possessions and were particularly careful with one special piece. The only thing that got broke on the day was the sugar bowl....and that was by me.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

Dave, Mick and Jack were great! They made a very stressful day fun and stress-free. Very professional, friendly, and efficient. We were very impressed with how quickly they packed up 21 years of our lives to move us from Lincolnshire to North Yorkshire. We couldn't recommend them enough!

Had a great experience moving with them in 2019. The second time was nothing but problems. It’s two stars rather than one because the guys who came to do the move were really good.

I needed a Luton tail lift van to help my mum move, I live near Milton Keynes, so didn’t know any companies to use. I can honestly say I chose the best. Picked it up at 7am on a Saturday and returned around 6:30pm. And everything about this rental was so easy.
If I lived local I would definitely use again and tell other people.

i think this removal company is absolutely brilliant . we couldn't actually book a date exactly as our buyers for our home were messing us about ,however a lady called Liz was brilliant and said she would do her best to keep a slot for me and ,Bless her she did ,Mr JOE BALLARD was brilliant on the day as we could get everything sorted out ,and time was running out ,when we got to our new home he sent what seemed to be an army of young men to help us unload .i can't recommend them enough.so many many thanks to EVERYONE at Ballards removals Retford ,THANK YOU

This company does not care about your possessions or how they treat them. The packing was OK. We also were promised 10 wardrobe boxes for my clothes, as we didn't have the wardrobe space at our new house until our dressing room was completed. 3 turned up & my husband's clothes were put in those. Mine were put in special wardrobe boxes, but we were told we were not allowed to keep them & at our new house my clothes were stuffed any old how into some wardrobes & drawers, some were left on the floor, my best blouse was dropped & trampled on. The stairs were supposed to be covered with special floor coverings, but they had run out!!! Damage was done to every door jam, with gauges out of the plaster on walls. To top it all my husband's £3,400 Omega watch has disappeared. He forgot to put it on the morning of the packing. He asked one packer where it was and was told it had been wrapped & packed in the main bedroom box. On reflection he should have said, I would like it unpacked so I know where it is, but he trusted the packers. We have unpacked every box & it is nowhere to be found. Jewellery is not covered in their insurance... We can only assume it may have been stolen. We were given £250 compensation. But it was an awful experience and I would advise people not to use this company.

Recommend you avoid this company. Tried to get quotation for a move from them but no response after 10 days even in spite of me chasing. I expect they are probably very busy at the moment but they will pay a heavy price for poor customer service when the time comes that they are actively looking for more business. There is no excuse for ignoring potential new customers.

Ballards moved me in January 2019 from Bakewell to Bungay, Suffolk. I had some heavy items (Stone troughs to move) and it was agreed they could move them. On the day of the move they bought the wrong equipment so had to go back to sort this out.
The next day sadly the biggest stone trough was dropped and broke in two (still had the wrong equipment), a dummy champagne bottle disappeared and some glass in a Georgian screen was broken!
Very sadly, I had not taken out their insurance so the cost of putting all these things right (over £2,000) was not met but a much smaller sum was offered in compensation. Very disheartening as I thought more care would be taken. The chaps did work hard though hence the rating on here.
