Worst bank I have experienced. - Bank of Cyprus

Worst bank I have experienced.

I was on a 3 month fixed rate account which is showing 0% interest after 1 year and was on auto-renew.

They have also locked my funds and I have been requesting for them to free it up for 2 weeks. The only response I got was they are going to charge me 600 Euros to free those funds. This is after 1 year of no interest!

I'm still waiting for them to free my funds after several emails, calls and messages.

Do not! Go with this bank

Well it's no wonder that branches are…

Well it's no wonder that branches are closing down.
We decided enough is enough they are ripping us to pieces taking money called Low Activity Accounts and Maintenance so what you were taking wasx10 and 35 Euro and told by IBU pafos its 200 Euro to close account.
No one can live like this.
What I've now been told is when we bought Off Plan Kouroushi took us to this branch where we opened an account what we weren't told is that after purchase you should use a small branch so not once did anyone notify us this should take place and now we have been living her for just over 20 years and paid out thousands of pounds.
Disgusting was the treatment that when we went to close it last Monday there were 18 in the Queue I told them we had disabilities and still told us we would have to stand. We stood 45 mins with 2 tellers on to do the business.
We withdrew our money and was never asked why.

Waste of time in this bank

So much waste of time in this bank.
I’ve ordered a bank card online but something went wrong with the address, so, I went to the bank in person. I told them to send my card to my work place because at my living place isn’t any post box, but no…. They said the address is important, let’s try to see if I get it to my apartment in 7 days….. and it’s been 2 weeks and I still haven’t received my card. I don’t understand what is the problem to send the bank card to working place. Then today (10.08.22) I’ve spent 1h10min in the bank just to change the delivery address…. It’s the worst costumer service in my life. If the costumer asks to deliver it’s order to that and that address then do it. We know better where we get our orders. Why do I have to wait for my card 1month instead of a few days…. (Just because I’m not a resident of Cyprus?????!!!)
Employees are not educated enough good. I hope I’ll never come back to this place.
Don’t care about costumers issues and questions. No answers on emails and calls.

SHOULD CLOSE THIS BANK, USELESS COMPANY!

I have to pay money to activate my…

I have to pay money to activate my debit card even though i am paying every month money to have an account. All this is happening because bank of cyprus and the president of cyprus stole money and gave away loans and passports to unauthorized criminals for money laundering... great

Pretty much the worst bank in Cyprus

Pretty much the worst bank in Cyprus. I had an account with them since my childhood, the account created by parents as part of a savings porgram at schools to teach children the importance of savings. I was leaving for my studies so I decided to take some money out. I went there with my old booklet and the cashier informed me I have no account with them. I was stunned. After I asked for the manager and 2 hours of sitting around, waiting with definite proof of the accounts existence they finally found the account, they then told me there is no money in the account. This account has never been touched and there was hard print proof of that. After a few more hours they manage to locate the funds. It seemed strange to them that I asked them to close all my current accounts with them. Just the worst.

BoC not interested in cusomers

I have recently bought a villa in Cyprus and need to open a bank account as part of the residency process. I looked on the internet and BoC stated that I could do this online. I tried this and the process didn't work and stated I needed to go to a branch in Cyprus so it wasn't an online application at all. My wife and I queued in Paphos branch for nearly 30 mins and were then told we would need to make an appointment, we did this for a few days later. We went in on the day and queued again then to be told that the person on the counter had booked the wrong date, it was for next week ( we were leaving Cyprus a few days later so this was no good) . There wre plenty of people at desks behind counter with no customers with them but they couldn't see us that day. We asked if we could go to the Peyia branch instead as they were obviously not interested. The person dealing with us wasn't to keen to help us but then got on the phone ( we had been in the branch now on our 3rd visit for nearly an hour ) , he was on the phone so we hoped he was enquiring about an appointment at Peyia branch. No, he cam back with the telephone number of Peyia branch and told us to call them ourselves. We tried 6 or 7 times and couldn't get through. We visited Hellenic Bank in Cyprus and from walking in and being seen straight away we walked out in less than an hour with an account opened and internet and mobile banking all set up. Use Hellenic Bank as BoC just not inerested.

still waiting for a loan release after 6 months.

A small loan was requested for a mortgage back in october 2021. they requested any kind of document from the owner to make sure there are no issue with the property. Once document granted in January, they still work on the loan release. They promise it will be done in the next couple of weeks and untill now nothing has happened. after 6 months still waiting and for a small loan. Very imcompetent bank and cheaters!! The owner wants to cancel the sale now. this is quite understandable.
I will never recommend this bank.

Am a client for more than 12 years

Am a client for more than 12 years. They hold the money safely but the customer support is not easily accessible. Things could had been better, the banking and investing industry have expanded a lot but always it feels like they are not trying to offer comprehensive and more modern solutions. I have no bad experience from bank of Cyprus but at the same time I am not impressed of the services they provide.

The worst customer service ever

The worst customer service ever. NO answers from email or phone calls.

They make you wait forever without giving you a straight answer.

Till today i'm still waiting to open a bank account that i've asked months ago

I would not recommend Bank of Cyprus

Waited in line for an hour. When I got to the till I asked for 3 statements and I was charged 2 euro each which I thorough was disgusting but I had waited an hour so wasn't wasting anymore time. if this is a tactic to reduce people going to the branches I think they'd be better off telling their staff to kick it into second gear. they move like snails and will only have 2 tills open for about 20 people. I recommend another bank seriously!!!

I have been a customer for 16 years

I have been a customer for 16 years. They seem to charge for everything except withdrawal of your own money from the ATM and your salary being paid in. Monthly charge under 3 euro.
Telephone banking has short hours, as do the branches which are closed most workday afternoons, evenings and weekends. Very inconvenient.
Staff in branches are generally knowledgeable, friendly and polite. They are overworked in branches.
The city centre ATMs close without explanation on bank holidays when demand is high. Parking is sometimes very inadequate so I avoid several branches including my own and the city centres. The policy makers pay no attention to the needs of the rural communities, have closed down many small branches due to major financial issues which were national. On a small island there is often a 30 minute or more drive to an ATM of theirs. This is quite typical here.
Their website is poorly translated in places, but I’ve got used to it and use it frequently and easily. Unfortunately I’m obligated to visit the branch during working hours, so have to take time off work occasionally for routine matters such as collecting a new debit card or a policy change, and this year to show my ID as I hadn’t been in there in a while.
Competition is problematic. Certainly worse is Hellenic who gave me serious issues unnecessarily which almost resulted in me losing my home. They didn’t care less.
Bank of Cyprus is the better one, well done the employees who do their best in most cases.

Absolutely appalling

Absolutely appalling, I don’t know how this bank manages to stay in business, the staff move at snails pace and have little to no knowledge of what they are meant to be doing

This is the worst bank EVER.

This is the worst bank EVER.
1) They're super slow.
2) you will be surprised, but in order to tranfer money to third-parties, first you need to order some kind of digipass, that no one told you about before (and it costs EUR10)
3) if you want to transfer money, you will need to pay EUR5 commission + EUR 10 another comission
and! they can charge you additional commission
4) it takes 3-4 days to transfer money
5) service quality in their branches is really bad , like, reaaaaaally bad
6) they might forget to issue you a card. So my situation: I went to the bank, ordered a card, was waiting for 2 weeks, then went to the branch..and they just forgot to issue the card :) how's that? guess you've never expected this from the bank, huh?
7) they don't know what they do. AT ALL. if you ask them questions, be super specific, don't think about some things that are obvious for all people. it's not the case with Bank of Cyprus
For example, not just "i want to transfer money to my norwegian bank account, how can I do this"
But "I am a Norwegian citizen, who lives in Cyprus. I have my own bank account in the Bank of Cyprus. I want to transfer my own funds to my own bank account in Norway..." - you got the idea?
8) they charge you for everything, and it's expensive
9) first day they provide you with one service (withdraw money), another day they can tell you it's prohibited and we made a mistake last week - it's okay for them to have different opinions :D

Just some whining

Actually for 3 years I had no problems with the bank for the most part, but lately my digi-pass was blocked for no reason, while copiyng and pasting the pass code for the ibank transaction. Never had such experience before, probably they had servers lags or something but it does not make my life any better. BoC wallet needs a lot work as well, but I am glad that it least available. Overal, you have only Hellenic Bank as an alternative to BoC if you live on Cyprus, so it is not that bad, but support is not great at all.
