One of the great record shops

I’ve been a banquet customer for many years, and they really are one of the great record shops. They do fantastic things with small venue gigs with huge international touring bands and have huge record store day stock etc. I think in about a hundred orders I’ve had maybe 2 problems which have been sorted very quickly if you email for help they are very responsive.

Have placed several orders with this company and they have always been competitively priced, delivered in good time and arrived well packed and as described. Heartily recommended!

Almost perfect but one small issue

After a little bit of research this seems to be a small record shop in London so I’m not completely surprised with the issues I had. I bought my record, order went through etc and I got my confirmation email saying I would be updated as it progressed. On the website it had said my order was dispatched but this is the only information I ever received, nothing about a delivery date, nothing from the courier etc so feeling left in the dark was worrying but it had arrived this past weekend in great condition and I am extremely please. Again for them being an independent store and the nature of record store day, I can see past it and understand it was probably a big rush and stress for them.

Great record shop!

Great record shop, I couldn’t make it to RSD this year but they had the one I wanted online. Dispatched and arrived quickly!

Not my first order with Banquet, they added a personal touch on the packaging last time, which made me smile too!

Do NOT order from them

As the other reviews said, they sold me stock they didn't own. The CD I wanted was listed as in stock, but I waited for a little under two weeks for my CD to get past "order placed".

When it finally shipped they did not give me a tracking number so I couldn't know when it arrived. Unacceptable.

Not sure what all the negativity is about!

I’ve never really had an issue with Banquet, and I’ve placed a lot of orders with them—probably over 30 by now! They do have occasional stock issues, but if you reach out, they’re really responsive and very helpful
The sale item they put up are always at a fantastic price and great value.
In short, give them a try but if something is sold out everywhere and they have it maybe drop them a message before ordering to make sure.

trading standards need to close these Jokers down.

I unfortunately placed an order with this company 67 days ago for an item their website states is in stock and has done since the date I ordered the record.

Image my horror when after 13 days of placing my order that they said they didn't have it in stock but still advertised as being in stock. Image my surprise 37 days after ordering the item that I get an update saying they still don't have the item in stock and are waiting for delivery but are still advertising it as available for sale.

Then image after 60 days you've had enough of dealing with FRAUDSTERS and decide to order the item directly from the supplier in USA and getting the item after 6 days.

Credit where credit is due though, they did only take 24 hours to process the refund.

If you like to imaging you bought a record but never get it then Banquet are the JOKERS for you.

POOR MAIL ORDER SERVICE - AVOID

Order took a whole week to just be picked even though the item was in stock.

Turns out item wasn't even in stock. The stock numbers were wrong (this happens all the time) and I was sent a different version of the album which is very obvious if you match the picture and description (different cover, different inlay, different book, different colour vinyl etc.) This was sent without explanation. I was like the member of staff who picked the order just went OH THAT'LL DO. No one double checked the order before despatch clearly.

Banquet were unable to sort before christmas which meant I was giftless. I've been trying to sort return but only have a two week window to get out of work to the post office during the week, which has proved impractical to me. The time, effort, expense shouldn't be mine to bear anyway - I shouldn't have to go to such lengths to correct their error. Lots of friends who use Banquet have experienced similar issues and my friend in Kingston has said he has had to stop using them for Mail Order altogether which I will now be doing too. Vinilo, Pie and Vinyl, Rough Trade and Resident - all better alternatives for mail order!

Also lots of issues with Banquet holding money for events that are continually postponed (Christine and the Queens) and at least two incidents of Banquet accepting and selling records from artists who have not signed the records (Rita Ora and Oasis) there may be more...it's all online if you want to read about it.

Officially done with them.

Issues like this are somewhat inevitable

Cd received in poor condition, customer service replied "issues like this are somewhat inevitable"... and copied/pasted very long terms and conditions to justify damages! I'm sorry but as a record company if you cannot prevent damages on cds and vinyls that is concerning!

It took a month for delivery, and it wasn't Banquet Records fault, but Swedish Postal :(

Poor

Two records delivered damaged. Poor e mail communication and no phone number to ring.
Items returned and re sent. One record still damaged.
Poultry compensation offered.
Will never purchase from Banquet again

Pre-ordered the new Architects album back in November 2024 and received the record through the post the day after the album dropped. Perfectly packaged, would 100% buy from again!

These are my go-to for any new vinyl releases. I’ve used the, probably around 5 times now, my most recent being for Charlixcx. Always delivered on time as expected, packaged above and beyond the needs.
I have also visited in store when they have been part of bands release tours like Foals, super friendly staff!
Thank you for being so trustworthy.

Items listed as in stock, may not always be the case - beware

I had two recent orders that unfortunately went wrong. One was a preorder from September last year that still hasn't come through. I understand things go wrong with suppliers, and Ben did give a detailed response as to why, and offered credit or refund. I did end up taking the refund.

My second order however was not a preorder, and nowhere did it indicate on the website that it wasn't in stock - the only options were/are buy now/add to cart. Two weeks passed and my order was not dispatched. I had to chase for an update and they told me they had to order this one in specially and they cannot confirm when this will come in or be sent. It seems they list items as in stock on their website but then, order them from somewhere else. I think there needs to be clarity around this when ordering and more cohesive communication. I've asked for a refund on this one too, which is a shame as I always prefer to support indie record shops, but will be avoiding in the future.

Simply the best, i love them and they are always so kind!
customer service is always helpful and understanding, they truly deserve so much! even when the things don’t go the way they should, they’re always so kind and ready to help!

Unhappy

Very poor, placed an order for a record, which had a status of 'back in soon'. Banquet took the money from me, but here we are over a month later with no sign or indication of how long the item is likely to take to arrive.

I've emailed for a refund, but I'm not happy about this practice of taking money with no route to fulfilment of the order.
