Online order issues with a touch of false Information.
Despite hesitating to share negative feedback, I feel compelled to express my experience, echoing concerns raised by others. This critique is solely based on the online aspect, as my in-store encounters were generally positive. Banquet Records undoubtedly showcases hard work, evident in their social media's delivery updates where you can see just how many orders they process along with the insane amount of Royal Mail sacks filled with online orders… really impressive work, It would also be fair of me to state that the majority of my online orders have been successfully fulfilled.
However, my dissatisfaction stems from an order languishing unfulfilled for almost a year, and another for five months, prompting me to email the store with a reasonable complaint. While acknowledging their dedication, I suggested a website update for better customer communication. Admittedly, I share responsibility for leaving an order open for a year, yet the lack of communication for such a duration was striking.
Requesting a refund, I received a partial amount back without even a basic apology, this is the part that disappointed me. A company should acknowledge mistakes; Banquet's failure to do so led to this review. Despite their impressive work, improvement in website functionality and customer service is crucial and the absence of an apology diminishes their accountability.
I value supporting independent stores but will explore alternatives due to this experience. Reflecting on this, I acknowledge that in the grand scheme of current global and national challenges, my concern may seem minimal. Nevertheless, the act of retaining funds without ever providing the purchased product feels fundamentally contrary to the values a record store should uphold.

Search Up "Banquet Records Rita Ora signed vinyl" on Twitter. There's one thing selling fake signed record but the attitude they went about it afterwards and refusing fans refunds was wrong.
Massive attitude and scamming false hope/promises problem, very egotistical cause they get a few artists for local shows and they think they're untouchable. They're ruining the good of vinyl, avoid like the plague.

Had several issues with them in the past with the classic "in stock" item that they charge you for and then inform you it is not in fact in stock and that I need to wait. One time, this wait turned to 6 months and was never fulfilled so I had to chase a refund, I wonder if they would have kept my money indefinitely?
The most recent issue was a record I collected in-store only to get home and find it was the wrong LPs (despite the correct sleeve). Took nearly a week to hear back from them - no offer of immediate refund, only that I need to bring it back in store for an exchange. When you don't live near the store this is ridiculous. I offered to post it to them, but they said I would have to pay to do so!!! Still waiting on a restock of this record (despite the website saying normally dispatches the next working day!!!!).
Who knows how this saga will end and when...

Really disappointed with this company. Despite several chasing emails I have had no response. Only ordered as it said Christmas delivery for their stock. It’s unlikely to arrive now so had to go out and buy a back up gift. Absolutely gutted. Won’t use them again🙁

A pretty poor service from this place…
A pretty poor service from this place every time I shop with them and that's not often. Orders are not clearly shown as out of stock and if they are there is minimal communication. My latest experience was ordering a pre-order vinyl with a ticket for a Pryzm show. With most other record stores I deal with, the pre-order arrives on the day of release. This one finally arrived 11 days after release day. If you email them you get a passive aggressive reply from a "customer service representative" called Ben. Sorry dude, explaining "well we are actually busy you know" is not the way to do business. Not sure how they're so busy with this level of service to be honest. There are plenty of other independent stores that will benefit from my business. Avoid if you can.

Lists items that are not actually in stock in order to lure in international customers and charge them obscene shipping and handling costs. My request to cancel the order was purposefully ignored in order to scam me out of at least some money. Their support employees, Ben and Amy, are rude and unprofessional. Never again.
False advertising on website, poor communication and poor customer service
On 10/11/2022 I ordered two vinyls of which one arrived just fine as it was in stock. The other was advertised as pre-order and in stock soon. I was buying this as a present for my partner which would have been in March 2023. If you ask me that's plenty of time for this to become available and be in my possession. However that was not the case. At the beginning of march 2023 I emailed them to ask what's happening and if I will ever receive this item at all. At this point this item was under the same description on their website. They responded and said there are some delays and could get a refund or wait a bit longer. Because I knew how much this would mean to my partner I decided to wait. I never got any updates from them, and now Christmas is approaching and thinking of what to get for my partner I remembered this was never delivered to me. So I check the website again. The status of this item is the same, and still no updates from them at all. I don't think this is acceptable, firstly falsely advertising an item to say will be in stock soon and allowing people to order when that is not the case and secondly not communicating (poor customer service with port replies) to ensure your customers are still happy to wait if that advertising is genuine, and/or giving them and idea that this could be year wait and allowing them to get their full refund. I will not recommend this business to anyone and nor will I use it again. Ps I still have not received my refund!!!!

Ordered 3 albums. One arrived quickly and in good order. When i read the reviews on here I started to suspect I wouldn't get the other 2 so I sent an email asking them to let me know ASAP if they didnt have the albums but got no reply. A week later the albums status changed to "known delay". Then I sent an email asking how long is the delay expected but again got no reply so after another week I asked to cancel and they quickly refunded me. Their website claims they respond to emails quickly but thats not always the case. When they do have an album its fine, and they refunded me promptly when asked so I cant give the worst score but had I come here and read the reviews first I'd have not wasted 2 weeks on this store.
Update: Ok so i was looking through my spam folder and saw the reply to one of my emails so they did in fact reply to me. It explained that they had to order in the albums that I had ordered and it would take an unknown amount of time so even had I seen the email i would have wound up cancelling as the records are on offer more readily elsewhere.
Horrendous customer service
Horrendous customer service from start to finish. Sold me an item with a counterfeit signature, refused to acknowledge this and extremely unhelpful throughout the return process. Luckily I paid with PayPal and they refunded me after investigating. Avoid if you can
Disability friendly, Accessible Venue And Accommodating Staff
I’ve gone to a couple of gigs now at Pryzm via Banquet Records to see Dodi a year or so ago and most recently to see Tears For Fears, one of my favourite 80s bands.
I’m blind and have a guide dog and for the most part, we’re an intrepid duo but, I’m a bit nervous about going to gigs even though I love doing so.
I’ve found a gem in Banquet Records and the venue they use along with the staff who have made my experiences memorable and stress free.
I didn’t have to worry about my four legged companion as he had the time of his life with a member of staff who looked after him while I sang and cheered at the top of my lungs like everyone else.
Nobody was over bearing at all but, would come by every so often and ensure I and others in the access area were OK and it was very clear that others felt as I did that going to gigs through Banquet Records is safe and inclusive.
Appaling company
Appaling company, rudeness from Ben is incredible, he has no idea about customer service. Sent out poor products, one CD missing as well, which i had to chase. Then, upon providing proof of return for one item, they still argued it hadn't been processed yet. Simply avoid and take your business elsewhere, no wonder small business struggle if this is how they act ! Avoid avoid avoid.
Outstanding poor customer service from Banquet Records
Ordered the personalised signed "Claire Richards Euphoria CD" on arrival the name was smudged and the message totally missing, plus my name looked like a totally different style/pen to Claires.
Customer Services- ben replied , saying I could either have £5 off or return the order. I explained with photos & a copy of my original order that the message had been missed, which banquet records still have not explained why it was missed ??? Instead I get a reply from Ben stating that the return will be solely at my expense, plus the order should be returned in an "As New" condition. Then to top it off on the bottom his email he adds, "...Please do not order any further personalised items from our website..."
Well Ben, having been a loyal customer for many years and having ordered many items from you, your level of customer services = the fact that I would never purchase from Banquet Records again, personalised or not. Neither would I recommend anyone else does, so you don't have to worry about that.
Far from from resolving the mistake, you have instead transferred the blame to me, despite the order being submitted/completed correctly by myself and having provided you with confimation of all this, you choose to ignore it.
I await the refund, at time of writing , but knowing the experience of this order, I won't be holding my breath. I have provided tracking number to Ben (along with the tracking link) as proof of postage, for added protection from this company it was returned 1st Class recorded post.
