I am posting this update to my previous review so that other customers can make their own informed decisions.
My Mitsubishi Shogun was originally booked in during early April 2026 for what I was told would be a straightforward brake disc and pad replacement with a next-day turnaround.
Instead, my vehicle remained unavailable for many weeks. During that time I received numerous explanations for the delay, including:
• "Need a gearbox specialist"
• "Will finish next week"
• "Waiting for parts"
• "Arrange recovery and take it away"
• "I'm on another breakdown job"
• "I'm in Scotland because of a family emergency"
The explanation seemed to change repeatedly, while my vehicle remained unavailable.
This vehicle is used by my disabled wife, who is a Blue Badge holder and suffers from PTSD. We also have four young children. Being without our family vehicle for such a long period caused major disruption, stress, inconvenience and financial loss, including affecting our planned family holiday.
After I formally requested the return of my vehicle and informed the garage that I had contacted Bedfordshire Police, I was issued incident reference number BP-22052026-0256.
One week ago, after sending messages requesting an update, I received numerous calls in quick succession and was warned that storage charges of £80 per day could be applied. Despite those warnings, seven further days passed without any contact arranging collection of the vehicle.
Eventually, I again had to involve the police in order to recover my vehicle. I understand that an arrangement was discussed for the vehicle to be left at a specified location, however when I located it, it was not where I expected it to be. The vehicle had a flat battery and we spent approximately two hours obtaining jump leads and trying to get it started.
What shocked me most was that after all this time, the brake discs and pads that had originally been supplied for the job were still in the boot of the vehicle. From what I could see when collecting it, the original work I booked the vehicle in for had not been completed.
Throughout this matter I have retained messages, call records and other evidence relating to my dealings with the garage and welcome any legitimate challenge to the accuracy of this review.
One particular comment also left a very poor impression on me. When I was urgently asking for help because my wife was struggling without the vehicle, I recall being told words to the effect of, "I'll do it if she gives me a hug." Whether intended as a joke or not, I considered that response inappropriate given the circumstances.
This entire experience has resulted in:
• Months without access to our family vehicle
• Significant stress and anxiety
• Financial loss and additional expense
• Disruption to a disabled household
• Time spent dealing with police involvement
• Loss of trust and confidence
Based on my personal experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering leaving a vehicle with Bedford Autos, Langford, Bedford, to carry out thorough research and proceed with caution.
This review reflects my own experience and opinions, supported by records and evidence retained by me.

What a great experience. Glen was very professional, knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. I can recommend him to anyone looking to resolve a car problem and wants to know the honest solution. I will definitely book any future needs.

Had a car issue today at work rung and came out so fast solved problem quickly and sourced and fitted new battery all done by time i finished wotk has promised super friendly and proffesional highly recomend
Dpf related diagnostics...garage tried to take me for a ride, READ !
Went for diagnostics of dpf related. The guy used most of the time to read through MOT recommendations to suggest work and prices it up. Did not give print of diagnostics that i paid for and worst of all, smeated my engine bay with oil and suggested a leak that needs to be fixed. I had the car at Merc a year ago, no leaks, no leaks on my drive either. Now i have to get that oil cleaned up. Avoid at any cost would be my recommendation, this guy operates from a small unit and will try to take you for a ride. Images on website are just images of some garage, not this one.

I came to Bedford Autos following a recommendation and was very pleased with the service I received.
I needed a transmission oil service on my BMW. It was half the price of BMW here and although it’s quite a lengthy process, I decided to wait and was kept fully informed what was happening with my car. I received a free health check and advised on future care of my car. I will return.

Fantastic experience at Bedford autos. Glens customer service is outstanding and so is his knowledge. We went with a gearbox issue and he’s sorted our car perfectly and done some extra bits as well, nothing was too much trouble. He went above and beyond to get us back on the road quickly, his prices are reasonable and he does his very best to make sure your aware of everything happening and whats required for your vehicle which is nice because as a woman you don’t always get treated with such respect going to a car garage. we will be using him again and we Highly recommend!

Top notch service
Bedford Automotive serviced my Audi last week. I was really impressed by Glen's attention to detail and his amazing customer service.
As well as a service, DSG gearbox service and new brakes, I'd asked him to do some work another garage had said I would need doing. He said the other garage's diagnosis was mistaken, explaining why, and doing himself out of that work which I thought showed great integrity.
If you're looking for a garage which is a cut above the rest, this is the place to go.

Battery and alternator
My car battery & alternator had both died, the guys at Bedford automotive were incredibly helpful. They came for a call out the same day, recovered my car to the garage and had my car returned to me within the next day. All for a very reasonable price!
Glen was super helpful and made sure to call me with a quote before any work was started, and also gave my car a health check.

I couldn't be happier with the work Glen has done on my car. My car looks like a brand new motor and all the work was done to a high standard.
