Good bike(s). Customer service is dreadful. My bike was damaged in transport. I contacted support. Eventually I received a replacement part, but the wrong color! I contacted support again and after several emails was told "sorry thats the only color we have". So, my brand new bike (over $1k) looks like crap. Insane.

Excellent customer service. I ordered a bike, it came with a couple very minor scratches due to shipping, and customer service gladly gave me a discount. That bike ended up being too big for me so I returned it, and customer service was very helpful and timely in the process, and gave me a full refund the day after they received the return.

Others complaining about no customer service is just because they have no phone number to contact, but if you just email them, they respond in a day or less.

Documentation that came with bike was NOT for the bike I received. While assembly does not require any special tools one would hope that the documentation is correct. I will say that support is half assed and that the folks on the customer chat are short and disprespectful! In the future I will avoid this company. A few issues is one thing but, customer service support after the order is horrible. Patrick should NOT be communicating with customers.

I WAS ORDERING A FRAME. i REALIZED I ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE , BUT THERE WAS NO CONFIRMATION THAT AN ORDER WAS PLACED , NO EMAIL, NOTHING.... I TRIED CONTACTING THEM , BUT THERE WAS NO PERSON TO CONTACT TO EXPLAIN... I ASSUMED THAT THE ORDER DIDN'T GO THRU BECAUSE I GOT NOTHING FROM BIKESDIRECT . THEN IT SHOWS UP ON PAYPAL,,. I TRIED CALLING AGAIN.... I AND RECIEVED FRAME THIS WEEK , NOW WHO DO I CONTACT TO RETURN,,,,, THERE IS NO HUMAN BEING,,

Don't buy from this people, their bikes are available in Amazon, choose a better shop to buy from!

This place is a joke. Don't fall for their "compare to" gimmick. The bikes aren't worth what they charge. I don't know about the "high end" bikes they claim to sell, but I can tell you that the mid-tier ones are garbage. They assemble these bikes with the cheapest parts imaginable. Don't be fooled by names like Shimano or Suntour. If they put actual Shimano and Suntour parts on the bike, they are of the lowest quality. I believe that most parts are secondary or Chinese knock-offs. The assembly is horrible. Nothing is greased. You better have a decent set of bike tools handy if you want them set up correctly. Of course I had to buy a crank arm puller and a BB tool because they put some cheap square taper bottom bracket on the bike. The one I received had a bad crank arm with poorly machined threads, and couldn't install the pedals. The left brake had a big dent in the hydraulic reservoir. The seal around the endplug looked compromised and I didn't trust it to work reliably. The front derailleur was junk and could not be set up. It may have been the shifter itself, but it would not align with the big chainring no mater what I did. The front suspension was of very low-quality, it squeaked horribly while riding, it bottomed out, the pre-load was useless, the headset had a flat spot that made steering clunky, and the front hub had a click that I couldn't identify. No idea why they decided the bike needed a 100mm stem. They advertised the bike as coming with WBT tires, well they were WBT but the lettering was all faded and the tires had cracks from dry rot. I couldn't even find the model number online so who knows what trashcan they pulled them out of. Says it had Shimano hydraulic brakes, a $200 upgrade… lol. Once again the model they claim doesn't exist online. The closet thing to them is the MT200 series and you can get those, front and back, for under $50. These were not even as nice as the MT200’s. And whoever laced the front wheel was a real piece of work. I was convinced the rim was bent. I spent over an hour truing the wheel and had to loosen everything to start over.
They called my issues "extremely minor" and offered me a $10 refund. After arguing with them and filing claims through the BBB and PayPal over the course of 2 weeks, they finally sent me a return label. Bottom line, don't believe anything they advertise. I assume the reviews are made up because there is no way to leave a review on their site. And their rating with the BBB is not A+ as they claim. The assembly place in Taiwan must be taking overstock, discontinued, and rejected frames then loading them up with low-quality parts to sell at a discounted price. For the bike I received to be even close to what they claim it's worth, it would have at minimum a Shimano Deore Groupset. The parts they put on there are not even models you can buy, even on Amazon. So forget the idea of saving money and getting a bike comparable to a $2000 bike for $700, the bike you get isn't even worth 1/2 the $700. Do yourself a favor and look at the real bike brands, Giant, Trek, Specialized, hell even Mongoose. You may not get all the features you want, but at least you are getting a quality bike. All the bells and whistles mean nothing if they are crap. No $60 fork should have lockout and preload. If it does you know its junk.

Purchased an ebike earlier this month at a great price, delivery was fast, and the shipment arrived intact. Problem started when I tried to assemble it. No instruction manual for the ebike, only a manual for a standard, non-descript bike, not an ebike and not the bike I purchased. An outreach to Customer Service where they were quick to respond, confirming there is no manual available in print or online. I was informed it should take not more than 30-60 minutes for someone with novice bike knowledge. I was also informed assembly at a bike shop should be less than $100, and with the low cost of the bike, an extra $100 is still a great deal. If I had known this, I would never have opened the box and brought it straight away to a bike shop for assembly, vs. trying to gather all the component bits and pieces in order to carry it all into the bike shop. The issue must come up often as the messaging from Customer Service felt like it was from a cut and paste prepared response list, a bit belittling and unprofessional as if I really should be able to do it myself.
Update: Picked up the bike today, $149 assembly fee as it took a "professional" 2 hours. Its charging now and I'll need to figure out how everything works tomorrow as again, no instructions or manual.

$3k - 3 year old Motobecane now has a frozen head-set. The headset is a free bearing race. No one in the bike business has seen this since 1970. No help from Bikes Direct. They won’t help with a replacement. No help from Motobecane either. Do not buy a Motobecane without making sure that it has a sealed headset bearing. The only solution now appears to be a $1000 frame purchase….but only because these guys will not send me a $10 replacement:-(

My sons birthday comming very soon. I went to bikes direct and saw the perfect bike, i was a little skeptical about ordering. But i threw all caution to the wind and ordered it. The bike arrived in 4 days and it is absolutely beautiful, cant wait to present it to him for his birthday. Bikesdirect is the truth !! I'm extremely happy !!

They don't even bother to lubricate the moving parts on any of their bikes.
I had to take bike to a bike shop. They had to take the entire bike apart to lubricate it.
Their customer service doesn't exist. At all.

Bikesdirect is amazing. I found them on Facebook and took a chance on a Hal full suspension mountain bike which looked too good to be true. A similar bike anywhere else, even online was several hundred dollars more or even almost double! Had a minor issue assembling and they sent me the part super quick.

Bikesdirect is dishonest and unreliable. I purchased a bike from them a few weeks ago. One of the cranks and foot pedals failed after a few days of use. Upon closer inspection, I figured out that the cranks and drivetrain were not manufactured by Shimano, as promised. Instead, they were made by an inferior company called Prowheel. When I brought this to Bikedirect's attention, they accepted fault but wouldn't do any better than offer me twenty bucks. Twenty bucks! I found that to be insulting. In the end, I'll end up dishing out more money than I would have had I purchased my bike from a reputable shop. I've wasted a ton of time on this. I advise you not to make the same mistake I did!

PS This is the very time I've ever posted a negative review online, publicly, about any company..... I'm that disappointed.

I have ordered multiple bikes - yes you need to either finish assembly yourself, or pay 40-60 bucks to have a shop get it prepped for you. For the people that complain about this it inst really fair because its noted up front, and if you cant do it don't buy it. All of my bikes have worked well and I just bought a spare for our beach house. good mid range bikes at low range price.

I ordered a bike from them. I used PayPal and didn't realize that I had an old address with PayPal that they used. I soon noticed the mistake and emailed them and they corrected it. When the bike arrived it had some pain scratches and a broken shifter. I took pictures of both and emailed them again. and within 24 hours they got back to me. They refunded me some for the paint and sent me a link to the shifter on amazon and said that if I send them the receipt they would refund it. Calling them is worthless, but they are great with email.
