A Poetry Comes Alive!
I published my first book named Saazish-E-Lafz through Book Leaf Publishing. I participated in the 21 day poetry challenge and it was a fabulous experience. The team helped me constantly with my doubts and a smooth writing platform. I was offered a varied range of cover designs. The only problem which hindered my book was that the writing portal had problems with Hindi formatting and because of that I had to write my book in Hinglish. Overall the experience is great and the price is reasonable but if you want to write in Hindi- it might not work properly.

I wanted to publish my poems once in my life tme. But I never dreamt of that it will happen in just an unexpected time and phase of my life. It is a really great experience. Thanks to the entire Team members of this company who were directly or indirectly contributed to this publishing journey and for the successful launch of the book online. Thanks and lot of gratitude.

My Winning Emily Dickinson Award not mentioned
I got an email that I had won 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award from BookLeaf Publishing but the same is not mentioned in the writeup about me in the media. The reply (email dated 30/4/2025) to my query (my email dated 29/4/2025) is not clear. Is my name appearing in the list of 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award or not? If appearing in the list, please share the link. I could not see my name as an award winner in your website. If doesnot appear, I would like to know why. While you are providing a good platform to budding writers, you can do a world of good if you can spell your criteria for nomintation, awarding and mentioning the achievement in media. Regards
A Dream come true with Bookleaf publication!
BookLeaf Publication turned my dream of becoming an author into reality!
Choosing to work with them is one of the best life decisions i've ever made.
PR package that was absolutely lit, their team went above and beyond!
Their support, professionalism, and encouragement made me feel seen, valued, and truly celebrated.
I’ll always be grateful for this unforgettable journey, they helped my words find a home.
I signed up for their 21 day poetry…
I signed up for BookLeaf Publishing’s 21-Day Poetry Challenge, thinking it would be a legitimate opportunity to publish my first poetry book. I paid ₹1,999 for what was marketed as a “easy publishing” experience, only to discover the real catch at the very end of the process.
They offer what they call “Limited Publishing”, which only includes distribution through their own online bookstore—but guess what? Their store links don’t even work. I tried accessing the paperback store multiple times with no success. There’s no transparency, no explanation, and absolutely no way to verify if your book would even be buyable.
When I tried to contact them through WhatsApp during their working hours, I received either delayed or completely unhelpful responses. Very close to their closing hours, I received a delayed reply from a representative, who informed me that the store was under maintenance and that paperback publishing would instead be done through Amazon. While I appreciate this alternate solution, it only further added to the confusion and lack of upfront communication. The moment I expressed doubts and asked genuine questions about distribution, past success stories, and their paid “award system,” the conversation dried up.
To actually make your book available on platforms like Amazon or Flipkart, they expect you to pay ₹5,499 more—on top of the initial registration fee. So much for “easy publishing.”
Also you can buy an Award for ₹4,499 and then the pay to win pyramid goes on an on, after this to ₹8,899 for Global and Extended Distribution + 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award + Copyright Registration + Priority Publishing and after that to somewhere around ₹11,999 for Bestseller Breakthrough Package!
As 'tools" they offer things like:
A cover creator (which was limited and glitchy—I ended up designing my own cover from scratch).
A DIY portal to write poems (honestly, Microsoft Word is way more functional).
Some "freebies" but you will only get that after you complete the challenge (publish the book).
And let’s not forget: they openly allow you to BUY an award nomination. That was the final red flag for me. It felt like a shady Bollywood award show. After reading multiple negative reviews online and on Reddit, Quora, and Trustpilot, I realised I had been scammed—just subtly enough for them to stay in business.
If the costs for being available on Amazon, Flipkart etc were more out in the open and more transparent, I wouldn't have signed up for this challenge. What I thought would be a smooth sailing process, seems just like a waste of time due to lack for availability of the staff. If they could barely reply to me on a working Monday and the website where we would eventually be driving sales from barely works - should we trust such a Publishing Company with our work?
Yes, I lost a bit of money. But I learned an important lesson—and the best part? I now know I can publish my book independently using platforms like Amazon KDP, where I’ll have full control, better visibility, and real global distribution. They anyway were NOT going to help us market the book : only provide the "tools" for it like a Cheat Sheet / Marketing Guide, which can easily be acquired from anywhere!
I deleted my manuscript from their portal and logged out for good. To anyone reading this: if you’re serious about publishing, do your research. You don’t need to pay thousands for empty promises and broken platforms. You can absolutely do this on your own.
Lesson learned. Book ready. The journey continues.
Put me off writing all together!
Without doubt the worst publishers I've ever worked with. Totally useless with contact, ridiculous prices for even the most basic of packages and then have the audacity to refuse payment when work is sold.
DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME
i was extremely excited to get my poems out in the open and have them be transformed into something tangible, however when directed to the website to create my book, it wouldnt even let me type. not a single word. i reached out to the "company" and have heard nothing back. first and last time i'll ever be scammed.

At a comfortable pace I could compose and publish 25 poems.
Farida Khan the publication consultant was always in her job in the background. Mujtaba Feroze Shah made excellent illustrations and Roosha Debnath gave very useful suggestions while proof-reading.
The formatting errors which remain are entirely mine, there are not many; I notice editing of 2 words as well as decreasing all line spaces by 1 will improve readability, and I am much relieved that I can make these changes at this stage i.e. two weeks after the book went live.
Thank you for a delightful publication process..
My experience with @bookleafpublishing…
My experience with @bookleafpublishing is extremely bad. After taking rhe money rhe response is poor and multiple followups are required.
After publishing is gone case. No news on sales or royalty. They just disappeared.
Feeling like I have been scammed.
Multiple mails no response. No phone or any other contact

I have had a good excused for other flyers and a also a terrible experience with this.
First of all my applications of jotform were lost to the process.
It was a huge concern as I ended up with lost images and basically having to reset my own typesetting and record by my private accounts in cloud which cost me more in the long run.
However after three books published I have been able to use it to recap my learning development and provide a few slim volumes.
I have yet to recover any contact with them since the last books publication date and two manuscripts in further books are still missing.
However I quite like the little slim volumes. I have sourced my ability to put my books to another placement of availability in the wider impacts on it being something. I want to complete my collections in a whole series.
I'm still awaiting a threshold to passage on the renumeration of payment. I never actually received my author copies, authorised sales never sit accurately and as yet I am not recieving a payment from sales assistant my own FSA will not entertain their paye as a safe service client handler.
After a message breach of data and loss of earnings from the wider project I set down I would like Bookleaf to make arrangements to improve their paye for book sales and the statistics that I can see for my own bookkeeping.
I'm a little disappointed with some aspects.
Very polite people mostly when they do respond yet I would like to keep my collections as my own style and in the same format. I would appreciate also someone from The Bookleaf Publishing Company for Authorisation and Author relations to get in touch please because I want to ask how to deter the predators that sold me out and exploited for 25p a copy when the books effectively retail at £8.99 per book. It is a very good service if it runs smoothly yet the experience has not been as enjoyable as it might of been.
Its sad but if I do not hear something soon it's likely I will explore new avenues for publication production. Very interesting experience yet I do not want to be misunderstood. I am wondering how to explain this to my bookkeeping as this huge expense has also caused damage to my other copyright. Be careful on processes and applications. Otherwise an interesting experience in writing development. Can someone get in touch with me by email please at Bookleaf?
Bookleaf are questionable
Bookleaf are questionable. I had issues at the beginning, the book took 9 months to publish with them ignoring my requests. Then I saw it was live they never told me. Excuses and incompetency from the person assigned. Recently I looked on Amazon its taking months for delivery of the book. I asked for my money from sales. They tell me they cant pay me because I don't have Paypal. Told me to open a Paypal account. I told them that Paypal are not very hinest people so I closed my account because they failed to keep my transaction safe and I was owed money. Thus far no money back at all. The books is way overpriced. People show an interest but when they see how small it is and the price they decline. I was warned they were scammers after the 21 day writing challenge. This is not what being an author is all about, They caused me nothing but trouble alas, Avoid. Do KDP at Amazon it you want to be an author.
Less than 1 star
Less than 1 star.
Scam artists. Not received a penny for my book. It disappeared from publishing and then suddenly reappeared with no way to contact them.
I didn’t know they had my book…
I didn’t know they had my book published in different places. I never received a link to receive payment. None of the emails they used worked. They say my email isn’t in their site for them to send a password reset.
Scam. Avoid at all costs.
I had a book published by Bookleaf as part of a writing challenge. Progress was incredibly slow including getting any information from them. I have had several sales from people (clients and others) and yet a year later no detail or information from Bookleaf on sales, or royalties that are due to me. In all honesty it's a bit of a scam.
First of all i would like to thank you…
First of all i would like to thank you for giving me and others for this chance to get our poem published in the book. I never thought this would be possible. I really appreciate Bookleaf Publishing company and their team. They helped me regarding my quires. Just grateful for this.
Yours truly
