Unhappy camper
We are very happy with the carpet we selected, the price was reasonable, not the cheapest, but the service is terrible. Installation guy did not have enough carpet to finish the job. So far, we've been waiting 4 days for them to come back and finish it. Repeated calls are ignored. The sales guy came out yesterday and double-checked his measurements, said the installation people would call us in the morning, but they have not done so and I am unable to get through to anyone at their store. My advice: there are lots of better companies to buy carpet from.
Stellar Customer Service
This is our second remodel to use Carpet One on all flooring. Jeff Rivers in sales has done an outstanding (and patient) job helping with selections and, most important, ensuring that our floors are installed properly. We feel like we got a very fair price with incredibly personalized service!
Disappointed
Worst Customer Service Ever!
Ordered carpet that had to be a full 12' wide (they new this when I ordered), which came in undersized. I had paid upfront and they refused to refund mu money. Worst customer service ever, and out $350!
Had an issue with a seam you could trip …
Had an issue with a seam you could trip over. When they sent someone out to inspect that person found other issues with the carpet quality and installation in 3 bedrooms. We were told the carpet would be replaced and the moving of furniture would be taken care of. Then the owner changed his stance and told us only the room with the bad seam would be replaced and we would have to move the furniture ourselves, and didn't seem too happy about having to do even that. He didn't seem pleasant over the phone as if we, who had spent $$ on quality carpet, were somehow at fault. All we wanted was the seam taken care of in the first place, and it was them that led us down the rabbit hole of replacing the entire installation, only to be told it wasn't going to happen and making us feel like somehow we were at fault. Even after a factory rep came to the house and confirmed the carpet was defective. The carpet was eventually replaced in 2 rooms (only because the factory rep cut out a piece of defective carpet in the 2nd room as a sample to take back with him. This infuriated the Carpet One owner who said "WELL I GUESS WE HAVE TO REPLACE THE CARPET IN TWO ROOMS NOW!" angrily to me over the phone.) No follow-up call following the 2nd installation to ask if we were satisfied. He had our money by then so apparently didn't give a crap. We have more flooring projects planned, but will never do business with Carpet One again. I don't know how he can stay in business treating customers the way he does.
Very poorly run business
Very poorly run business. Our 5 day project took 30 days........workmanship was sloppy, customer care non existent, and they left our home with damages (cabinets, trim, etc.) and filth.......
Excellent professional, quality and installation of beautiful wood floors
Carpet One installed oak parquet wood floors throughout my whole house. They did an excellent job, taking their time to level the floor to insure the wood was laid properly. This was a big job with a room needing major leveling. They were professional and respectful. It took longer to install because they cared about doing an excellent job. My love my beautiful floors. Gene Fischer was always available for questions, inspected their work and explained proper care of my new floors.
We had an issue with our floor and they refused to honor the warranty.
We had an issue with our floor and the manager of carpet one came to my home to look at our floor. He saw that it had pits ( little holes) all over the entire floor. He took pictures and said he has never seen any thing like before and that it had to be defective. It also dented very easy. It was less than 6 months old. We dropped a plastic cup on the floor and it dented the floor. When we purchased the flooring we told the sales guy that we had very high traffic and wanted a durable floor. He recommended the floor we purchased and said it was in their break room and if it wasn't durable they wouldn't have put it in there. They didn't remove the old flooring before installing the new one in our home. He admitted that he has never seen anything like it. He even took pictures. Then after that his whole attitude changed and he refused to replace the flooring. Still stuck with a horrible floor that cost a few thousand and looks horrible. I wouldn't recommended them to any one!!!!! They down right refused to honor the warranty.
inadequate material used
After a flood in my home my insurance company was working with Carpet one. I had to have my linoleum and the laminate replaced. I also chose to have the carpet replaced in the living room and my bed room. My husband had just passed away a few months earlier after 45 years of marriage so I was still grieving his loss I also suffer from Multiple Sclerosis and use a scooter to get around my home. After 6 months the laminate started to lift up and many places. A third party came in and stated that the floor was 1/16 of an inch uneven in places and the weight of my scooter was causing the floor to lift up. I was never told that my scooter was an issue. The old laminate that I had for 15 years never lifted under the use of my scooter. I was given some sample flooring to choose from which were Shaw brand laminate. I was never told that it wouldn't hold up with the use of my scooter. If I was told that I needed to upgrade the product I would have paid out of my pocket for that upgrade. I was sold an expensive carpet, now that I look back I realize that she had told me to choose from a few samples for the carpet not to shop around in the store. I was totally taken advantage of with the purchase of the carpet and the low quality of the laminate. Carpet one is not going to do anything about the laminate so I am thee looser in this deal, my flooring looks terrible and when I use my walker I have to careful where I walk as to not trip where the flooring is raised up.

Dishonest Install crew and poor install
I will start with the good. Scott, our store contact, was a great help in trying to get things made right, but he only had so much leverage. The installers broke our washing machine and dryer ($120 repair for us to fix) but chose to try and hide their mistake. Luckily, the dryer I noticed something different and investigated. They had shoved the ripped, open vent hose into the wall. Had I not seen it, the moisture from the dryer would have made a mold problem in the coming months. I was not so lucky with the washing machine. They had used glue and duct tape to hide the broken part so that it looked like it wasn't broken. After they had reattached the washer, my wife ran the first load, it flooded the laundry room, hallway, kitchen and part of the master bedroom. The store made arrangements to replace water damaged flooring which was 2/3rds of what they had just laid down as well as the bedroom carpet but that took the install from a 2 day job to a 4 1/2 week job. We were without one of our bathrooms and walking on concrete (which isn't easy with 6 kids in the house) which tracked dirt all over the house for the 4 1/2 weeks. The installers splattered leveling float all over our walls, doors, and kitchen appliances and left without even trying to clean. One of them spilled a lot of glue and instead of wiping it up he covered it with our welcome mat which was then stuck to the floor. They used the nice hand towels in our guest bathroom to wipe up a mess and threw them in the trash. We are keeping an eye out in case they broke something else and didn't tell us. We paid a lot of money to be lied to, the hiding and deception, as well as sloppy workmanship. There are things that need to be redone in the carpet and flooring but we don't trust them in our home anymore.
Warranty Customer Satisfaction Does Not Matter
We have lived in our home for 18 months. It was a new build. We were very excited to be able to select or flooring. The flooring looked beautiful and we were very satisfied with how it turned out.
At the 14 month mark we noticed the seam from our living room to the hallway had a spot coming apart. This is where all our fun and games began. The first contact with them seemed to go very well. The warranty manager came out looked and agreed that the carpet needed to be fixed and had the initial work lined up very quickly. They came late in the day at our request and this made us very happy, thinking they are willing to get it resolved around our schedule. They came and redid the seam. It was late and everything to the naked eye looked fine.
A couple days later, we notice the seam did not look right. We called back and were told that we just need to give it time. That it will work itself out. We said ok and gave it a couple more days. During this time it just kept getting worse, I called and still heard we need to be patient. The next day the carpet between the kitchen and living room (Wood floor into the kitchen) pulled away and exposed the tack strip. Lucky us our dog decided to chew on that spot that morning too. I called and emailed in photos. He lined up the crew to fix the spot connecting to the wood and still claimed there was nothing wrong with the seam.
The night the worker came to fix the spot connecting the wood, he also pointed out that the seam did not look write. We talked and he was going to let the manager know so they could have it fixed. a couple days later I had to get a hold of the manager to talk to him about someone they hired said the seam look wrong. You think it would have been the other way around.
He finally came out to look at it and then was full of excuses. Letting us know that; The glues not holding, My installer must have sent a couple from his crew rather than coming himself & so on. By the end of that visit, we were going to get the "good crew" in to work on it. Only kicker with that was we had to wait two to three weeks. After they came and fixed it, it was back to square one. We currently have two spots where glue is coming through the carpet, a replacement patch that has a hole in it & a section coming up from the tack strip. Would you guess what, the dogs decided to go at that too.
We currently have it lined up for a forth guy to com in and fix it. He is very sure of himself, as I am sure every person that Carpet One has sent has been. At this point I wish I had never called them to come and fix it.... The carpet looked better two months ago with the one little spot rather than three foot area we need to worry about now. We are covering all edges of the carpet in fear that the dogs will go for it, thinking its a game.
I strongly urge everyone to stay away from this company. I do not blame the sub contractors they are hiring to fix it, they should have some form of quality in on warranty work to sign off on it. Just one problem after another.
Dodgy
I went to carpet one on the recommendation of my Builder partner. I needed carpet for 2 rooms. We decided on a brown carpet as we live on a property with black sand, have 5 children and have timber floor boards throughout rest of house. The colour we wanted was not available in a good quality carpet I was told. The owner Steve said he would bring some samples with him when he measured up. On the day he arrived he brought 3 pieces of carpet for me to choose from. I thought this was odd, I thought we chose a brown carpet because that was what we wanted. He gave me a business card with the cost of $3000 on it for the 2 rooms. It was supposed to be high quality stain resistant Scotch guarded carpet.
I spent the next couple of months worrying that the carpet was going to be too dark . Hence my dismay when on the day the carpet was layed it was light !!! Way to light. As I didn't have a quote with the colour or name of carpet written down I had nothing to prove that a mistake had been made. When I paid for the carpet I stressed my dismay and unhappiness and was told the owner was away but the message would be passed on to his son and he would phone me. Of course I never received any correspondence from carpet one. The next thing I noticed was how easily the carpet marked and stained. Try as I might I can not get the carpet clean . I finally got around to calling carpet one only to be told to use sunlight soap and soda water! Yes this faded some of the marks but it will take hours of vigorous scrubbing to get my so called high quality stain proof carpet clean. I am 100% certain that they layed the wrong colour carpet and that this carpet does not have all the stain resistant properties that it was meant to have. I am very dissatisfied and will not be recommending carpet one to anyone .
I found the whole process dodgy and disappointing.

Angie was so helpful to me! As a matter of fact, in my opinion she is the best saleswoman here at this company! She was so kind and courteous to me, and on top of things by being on point with EVERYTHING from showing me different samples to a follow up call to make sure that I was happy with my purchase! I have dealt with a lot of sales men and woman in my life but this woman is by far the best salesperson I have every dealt with and never once had anyone call me after my purchase except her!!! Not one time did I feel like I was just another sale. I actually felt as if Angie was someone in my family helping me make my decision! I would definitely recommend anyone and everyone going to L&M to talk to Angie! This woman is on top of everything from start to beyond finish! I have already recommended you to a lot of people and will continue to! Thank you so much for treating me like family Angie! All carpets buckling only 3 years old
I was not happy with our installation after a house fire. The service at store was wonderful but when I called with problems I was not treated very nice at all. My steps were never correct and the last time I called I was told we will come out 1 more time and that's it. The carpet in 3 rooms is buckling. I m truly afraid to call the store where purchased. Is there another person we can contact from carpet 1. We are in pa.

Our new hardwood floors look amazing!
Carpet One was great. We called them after having a broken pipe leak and cause water damage on our floors. They were able to schedule us right away and made it a priority to replace our flooring after such a mess. They were great to work with and showed up on time and completed the work quickly and beautifully! We love our new hardwood floors!

Awesome service after the sale.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your assistance in resolving an issue which we were having with the grout in our tile. After the initial install we were having a problem with the grout and you sent the installers here to correct the problem.
As time passed the problem reappeared and just got worse. The grout continued to pop out of the joints to the extent that it was showing the thin set in many areas. We visited your office and showed you pictures of the issue.
Tim visited our home to inspect the tile and grout for himself and concluded the batch of grout was defective because of the extent of the issue. Tim, to our utter amazement, authorized the complete removal and re-grout of our floor which covered five (5) rooms.
Shortly afterwards Tim and Dave arrived to do a back breaking job of moving furniture in order to remove and re-grout each room. They did all this cheerfully and without cost. Your employees should be commended for going above and beyond our wildest expectations.
Thank you for standing behind your product. It is indeed rare in these times for companies to back their work. I will wholeheartedly recommend your company and will give you my future business without any reservation.

Awful.
I was completely disappointed after trying to communicate with Marty. She did not return my phone calls, did not write down the details from our conversations to refer back to, and ultimately told me that a certain carpet would be in the price range we had discussed and then went on to quote me a price WAY higher than we had talked about. She was rude and did not take the time to correct her mistakes. I am thankful I did not end up using Carpet One.

Far too many delays
The new kitchen looks great, but the planning for this project was unacceptably inadequate. We were told to expect a 12-14 week timeline. The cabinetry was ordered in December and final installation was not completed until last week (August). There were multiple errors with the cabinetry on the part of both Britton's and the cabinetry manufacturer (Custom Cupboards). The manufacturer would not expedite the various items that needed to be reordered (twice), and I felt Britton's did not forcefully enough advocate with them on our behalf. Eight months with our kitchen torn up was far too long.
