CG Spectrum disappoints on multiple levels. The content is delivered in videos that feel like low budget youtube content, the staff is immature and unprofessional, and the only bright spot is the slack page where students are able to interact with former and current students as well as staff. As a former student I would highly recommend staying away from this "school" and if you do decide to join make sure to only pay for one semester at a time.
Like any school or institution, it really boils down to your own motivations and, of course, the teachers. This online institute does give you all of the resources, and more, for you to succeed. A student license for your program of study, an online community that is very active, and teachers (or mentors as they are called here) was everything I needed to succeed. This place of learning was the perfect fit for my needs. I work a full time job and the online flexibility allowed me to fit this course into my life around everything else going on. My mentor was encouraging; challenging me to go further, and was flexible with my schedule when something came up in life as things happen. I like to think I was lucky with getting an amazing mentor, but I believe that all of the teachers are on the same level as the one I got to learn from. All are or have been in the industry and know their craft inside and out. I learned a lot from the course material, but I learned most of it from trial and error. A book, video lesson, and even a teacher will only take you so far. I was able to utilize CGS's tools, workflow, and community to learn something that I have always had a passion to study.
I regret to say that I cannot recommend this school. Unfortunately, the value for the price paid is extremely low, with course content falling short of expectations.
For the same investment, students would be better off seeking a mentor directly or exploring more affordable, high-quality courses available on platforms such as ArtStation, Domestika, or even YouTube.
Additionally, the school does not have a strong reputation within the industry.
It seems the institution is primarily focused on profit, as most of their budget appears to be allocated towards marketing and advertising efforts rather than improving the quality of education offered.
After attending CG Spectrum, I enrolled at another school called Think Tank, and the difference was remarkable. For a similar price, the courses offered top-tier content and included multiple program licenses for 3D modeling software, providing a far more comprehensive learning experience. By studying at Think Tank I’ve already learned way more.
If you are serious about pursuing a career in 3D modeling and wish to avoid wasting both time and money, I strongly suggest conducting thorough research before making your decision.
Unfortunately, this institution does not meet the standards necessary for a solid educational foundation in this field.
I do not recommend this school. Resources are limited, and there is a noticeable lack of care in how the school is managed overall. If you’re looking for a place that values students’ education, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. There are definitely better options out there!
This school has nosedived—from a leading choice for aspiring artists to one of the worst. Corporate greed and disastrously poor management have stripped away educational quality and crushed morale.
There are no full-time instructors. Instead, students are assigned "industry mentors" who are classified as casual employees. They’re only paid for the time they spend actively teaching—no paid time off, no sick days, no benefits. It’s a gig economy setup, no different from food delivery or rideshare work. Mentors typically have just 20–30 minutes to interact with students before their compensation ends, forcing them to cram lessons into a narrow window. Burnout is inevitable, and meaningful mentorship becomes impossible.
Student complaints—regardless of merit—are often met with immediate termination of the mentor. This creates a culture where mentors are pressured to coddle students rather than challenge them or hold them accountable. All course sessions are recorded, yet these recordings are rarely, if ever, reviewed to confirm or deny the validity of complaints. The school demands little to no credibility or responsibility from students, and grading is frequently reviewed—and sometimes altered—by the governing body, further eroding academic integrity.
To make matters worse, the school has adopted new government regulations to qualify for financial aid, pushing young artists deeper into debt. Combine that with a knee-jerk termination policy and a toxic feedback loop, and you’re left with an institution that feels anxious, unstable, and broken.
Steer clear.
CG spectrum is absolutely worth the money. As person who struggled trying to figure out what I wanted to do as a 3d artist. The school and the community helped me figure it out, plus everyone is very helpful as you go through the a course.
Absolutely amazing.
Couldn't fault it at all. I had a great learning experience and was fully supported with such a great community.
Legends!
CG Spectrum is a good place to go to level up and get better. Whether you are a beginner or already have some knowledge in a certain software like 3Dsmax or Blender. Here you learn how to work and think like the professionals which you won't get in school since the teachers you have are working in the industry. It's a hand on approach with guidance from your chosen mentor and highly recommended it!
I’m someone who struggles with mental illness and lots of anxiety that affects my ability to learn and do things. I tried and failed regular university several times, I thought I just had no place and wasn’t going to go anywhere. I hope this review is helpful to people like me and anyone else who may be looking into CG Spectrum. CG Spectrum has been AMAZING for me. It’s exactly what I needed. I’m finally succeeding, I’m finally learning the industry skills I’ve always wanted to learn to bring my ideas to life (I am a 2D animation student). The assignments are fun, the live sessions are VERY helpful, I really enjoy working closely with mentors who have actually worked in the industry and have worked on media I recognize. It’s exciting. I have literally no complaints. If you are anxious or need something more hands on, CG Spectrum is perfect. The people here are GREAT, everyone I’ve spoken to has been so amazing and compassionate. I think the way they teach is PERFECT. I may have failed several times in the past at different universities, I even struggled in middle and high school. Here, I am thriving. I’m so glad to have finally landed at CG Spectrum.
The structure is perfect. We have one live session a week, and the rest of the week we work on our assignments. During the live session, our mentors give us a lesson and explain things in detail with screenshare, review our work, tell us what they’d change and why, show us how to make those changes, give us tips and helpful criticism, walk us through it, all through screenshare and then they send us the file so we can study it. They also record the lesson, so we can go back and rewatch it at any time. It’s absolutely perfect for me.
I also enjoy the closeness. It’s not a typical university setting. One thing about regular university I didn’t like is that I didn’t know anybody. There were so many people. Here at CG Spectrum, it’s different, it’s better, it’s comfortable. You know your mentor, you might have a few classmates (depending on the option you chose). You actually know who you’re talking to, you don’t feel stranded. There’s also Slack, a communication app where you can connect with other students and mentors and share your work.
I love everything about CG Spectrum, I love my assignments, I love what I’m learning, I feel I’m at the right place. I absolutely recommend CG Spectrum.
CG Spectrum is the place to go for anyone interested in learning game programming. I just finished their Game Programming Foundations course, and it exceeded my expectations.
The Q&A sessions provide industry-relevant skills that I feel will give me an edge in a professional game development career. What truly set this experience apart was my mentor, Filip Krstevski. He wasn't just going through the motions like it was just another job—he genuinely cared about my growth as a programmer.
When I struggled and got overwhelmed with complex Unreal Engine concepts, Filip broke down the material in a way that made sense, giving me the confidence to tackle challenging technical problems. His real-world insights were invaluable and provided a perspective you can't get from standard education.
The community is another big plus. Everyone is supportive and eager to help each other out. I've learned so much just by interacting with other students and getting different perspectives.
One thing to note is that you get out what you put in. CG Spectrum provides an incredible framework and support, but that support obviously depends on the amount of work you put in. For those willing to invest their time and energy, the potential for exceptional results is unlike in any other place I've ever known.
For anyone serious about a career in game development, I can confidently say that CG Spectrum is worth serious consideration. This course has been more than that for me. It's been a life-changing experience that equipped me with the skills and confidence I need to get out there in the industry.
I am really glad I took the jump and went to CG Spectrum. I was wanting something that teaches industry material while having a mentorship- which is what CG Spectrum does! I took the 9 month Concept art Specialization course and found myself loving it! The fact that they update the course material to follow newer industry standards is amazing! They give the students access to so much resource material and an online community! When you sign up for the course, you are put in a class with 3 other students and a mentor. The mentor gives weekly feedback while also giving industry standards advice. I find it so amazing the amount of help and assistance you are given while going here, they really make it a priority to help you- which is something my friends who went to other 4 years colleges say they barely ever got. But with that being said, you still have to put in the work to get the result! I would wholeheartedly recommend this school if you are ready to take the next step in your education career path.
I had an all-around wonderful experience at CG Spectrum! The TAs and Career Coaches were super helpful and kind, and my mentor was especially amazing. She really listened to my goals and aspirations, and provided professional guidance to help me achieve them. She worked with me thoroughly, ensuring that I made real progress in the areas I wanted to improve. This is an amazing community, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enhance their skills in something they’re passionate about. You’ll get guidance from a lot of talented, passionate, and supportive people.
Enrolling into CG Spectrum was the best decision I could have made as an aspiring computer graphics artist. I've learned sooo much in such as short period of time.
I'm super satisfied with both the quality of program and the amazing, supportive mentors and fellow students. It's not just lessons, it's the community as well.
I first did a real-time 3d course and now I'm doing a Houdini class. I was so happy with the school that I just couldn't help but take another course haha.
My mentor Daniel is such a talented teacher and goes above and beyond to support my learning process.
Highly highly recommended!
So happy to be a part of CG Spectrum family
The class structures are good and their lessons were fun and understanding. All TA were helpful and kind and my mentor is well understanding and patient and makes the class fun
Just all around outstanding.

The community created through inter discipline engagement between students in different areas is so good you have no idea, if you need help with programming ask the programming people and they will help, need artistic assitance go to the artists. Wonderful.
The amount of resources provided for you to further your knowledge and study is immense, just craaazy immense

"I want to express my appreciation for the incredible experience I've had at CG Spectrum. The Mentors are exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate, which has significantly enhanced my learning journey. The curriculum is well-structured, offering a perfect blend of theory and practical application. The facilities and resources available to students are top-notch, creating an inspiring environment for creativity. However, I would suggest incorporating more workshops on contemporary art techniques to stay updated with the latest trends. Overall, my time here has been immensely rewarding, and I look forward to continuing my artistic growth with your guidance."

I just completed the intermediate compositing course and I have to say this is THE best learning I have experienced (compared to online tutorials as well as finishing a university degree back in the day). Just a having a supportive mentor with a genuine interest in your learning growth and development as well as the supportive slack community both with students, staff and other comp professionals looking at your work. I feel this journey that I experienced the past 12 months will give me an edge when I apply for jobs in the visual effects industry.

Fantastic school with mentors who know what they’re teaching inside and out. My mentor was unfortunately unable to continue my lesson, so instead of leaving me to finish the workshop on my own, I was elected a new mentor and the entirety of my workshop was restarted. CG Spectrum really exceeds in putting their students first.

I am very grateful and thankful to have been a part of the “3D modeling foundations” course in CG Spectrum with a great mentor and great video materials to help me progress. I learned more than I had expected in this period of time and really recommend it to anyone who wants to reach a high and a professional level quickly. The courses are very flexible with their online program and schedules so that almost anyone can be a part of it. Thank you CG Spectrum for such amazing mentors and community.
