Poor afternoon tea.…
We enjoyed our trip on the Churnet Valley Railway. The train journey was lovely & staff were very attentive & pleasant. We were however, disappointed with the afternoon tea. There were no traditional sandwiches, just 4 very small dry quiches which didn’t have any taste. The small cakes were not particularly appetising either. I thought one was going to be an eclair which was choux pastry but it was filled with puréed apple! The scones, jam & cream were lovely. Please improve your afternoon tea.

We are sorry to hear that the food did not meet your expectations. We would, however, like to clarify that the experience you booked was our Staffordshire Cream Tea, rather than an Afternoon Tea. The two experiences have different menus, and our Staffordshire Cream Tea does not include traditional sandwiches.
We are pleased that you enjoyed the scones, jam and cream, although we are sorry that the other items were not to your taste. We do appreciate your comments regarding the savoury and sweet selections and will pass your feedback on to our catering team.

The whole experience was superb and very well organised. Everyone was so friendly - car parking attendant, shop and cafe staff and the delightful volunteer man on the train!
We collected our coffee and cake upon arrival which was evem bagged up with our name on!
The scenery was wonderful and the seats very comfortable.
Excellent value for money - we hope to do a return visit and will certainly tell our friends about this experience!

Great train experience.
Great train journey through really nice scenery. Good to see and hear the steam engine climbing the gradient up to Ipstones. Friendly staff on board the train and good catering outlet at froghall station. A good day out, easy to book online through the web site and good customer service throughout.

Definitely worth a visit!
Everyone was so helpful and friendly they couldn’t have done more! Our party had a logistical problem and they went above and beyond to help us and make sure we enjoyed our trip. We had an elderly parent and they were extremely helpful in assisting getting on and off train! Thank you everyone.

Steam train breakfast
Our breakfast trip was enjoyable, highlight was the staff, really polite and helpful.
The full breakfast was good, not so keen on the oatcakes bit boring (personal taste).
One thing I’d change, fair bit of stopping and starting on the journey, serve the food at the 30 minute standstill at the midpoint before heading back. It’s a long time to sit waiting and with very litt To see or do.

Special Day with friends
The booking process was so easy and upon arrival at the station booking in the party was quick and simple. Once on the train service was immediate, efficient and polite. Great food and everyone wants to do it again.

Excellent experience
Excellent experience. Friendly staff, station clean and tidy. Steam train was clean and comfortable. Tasty cream tea served with lots of tea or coffee.
