Enjoyed the train ride, the scenery wasn't as great as we expected.
Itsnot just coffee and cake, we were offered bacon/sausage baps! How did we know! Staff were fine happy and helpful.

A wonderful experience. Lovely setting, the train is fantastic and very comfortable. Food was delicious and plenty of it, no one went home hungry. Staff were very professional and polite. Murder mystery was fun, the actors were very good sports. We would highly recommend.

Beef was tough and tasteless, some potatoes and parsnips were not cooked enough, still hard and the gravy was tasteless.
No ice or lemon was served with my gin and tonic, which was warm.
A member of staff brought me a glass of ice when to add to my drink.

Took a murder mystery with meal trip. Excellent experience, food was great, good sized portions, tasty and well presented. The murder mystery happens around you as the evening progresses and was well acted and very entertaining. The setting was perfect adding to the whole experience and the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall highly recommended. Thanks to all involved.

We loved the Murder Mystery evening at Churnet Valley Railway. The carriage was comfortable, with lovely details. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Murder Mystery element was fun. The steam train with its sounds and rhythm all played a part in making it a different experience which became immersive and a good night away from our norm.

From the moment we stepped onto the platform, we were completely immersed into the story of Arthur’s birthday. The characters' performances were absolutely stellar, keeping us hooked, guessing, and entertained from start to finish.As if the thrilling mystery wasn't enough, the food was delicious and the service was truly excellent. Enjoying a top-tier meal with seamless hospitality, all while riding on a historic steam train, made for an incredibly unique atmosphere.It was an absolutely incredible experience that perfectly blended theater, fine dining, and nostalgia. I cannot recommend this evening enough!

I will start my review with the booking experience on line ,it was easy and had a quick response on confirmation via email. Excellent value for money on coffee and cake trip £15.50 pp Inc Any hot drinks, choice of cake and the train ride, fantastic value.
We were a party of 17 so I arrived early to make sure when everyone arrived it was all organised, of course it was the girls in the tea room were aware of our large party and had the cakes ready to go, and advised me to list all the hot drinks and pass it over to them and they would sort it for me, have to mention Lovely Jo ,super organised and attention to detail way spot on, she was so helpful.
The two ladies in the tea room worked as a team and looked liked they did an amazing job for everyone at the tea room station.
The Lovely guy on the platform was so helpful and informative and helped me get my party all sitting together in a carriage.
Once on board the service was more than I was expecting, the coffee and cakes were enjoyable to us all, and the trolley girls came through the train offering breakfast baps, then again offering drinks and snacks, brilliant.
The train journey was full of changing beautiful scenery with so many people waving to us along the way, put smiles on all our faces.

Journey took 2 hrs as we were told and I wasn't surprised to see the next customers waiting on the platform for their trip and 1.30pm.
Thank you to all the staff involved on our day you were all informative, helpful and made the experience very pleasant.

We had such a wonderful day on the Sunday lunch steam train for my mums 83rd birthday.
The staff were amazing and friendly. The food was lovely and it was such a different experience .
All in all a memorable day out.

My second time using churnet valley railway from Froghall and I loved it just as much. The staff work hard to make the journey enjoyable, they were friendly and kept the train clean and safe. The seats were comfortable, everyone seemed relaxed and it was just what we had hoped for on a rainy bank holiday Saturday.

They thoroughly enjoyed it & said the food was lovely too!

Great family activity which was extremely well organised. They accommodated my mother and her wheelchair with ease. Would highly recommend and look forward to our next visit.
