Another year and another rescheduled…
Another year and another rescheduled service from Clever Energy Boilers. Found on installation they were very prompt but every year when it comes time for service they cancel sometimes on the day and it has to be rescheduled. Today I’ve waited at home all day only for it to have to be rescheduled for 2 months time.

Absolutely fantastic service
Absolutely fantastic service. I had had a very poor solar and battery installation in 2024 and Clever Energy came out and did a quality inspection and then rectified all the errors.
Provided me with the relevant MCS and applied to Northern Power for the DNO - even had problems there which they sorted out.
Cannot thank John, Chris, Tim for their help and not forgetting Carl and Craig who re installed my system.

FIRE HAZARD
Our new boiler/programmer was installed by sub-contractors. We later had a problem with the programmer, and we got a local engineer in to investigate. On inspection, he found bits of string and paper wrapped around the internal wires. This is clearly a FIRE HAZARD and we were very lucky to have discovered this before anything serious occurred.

Thank you for your reply, but your records are incorrect. Your engineer smashed our programmer whist installing the new boiler, and fitted a replacement programmer. It was indeed your engineer who left the new programmer with bits of string and paper inside.

We take all concerns very seriously and carried out an internal review following your comments.
Our records confirm that your property is set up on two heating zones and as agreed, we retained the existing programmer and controls rather than replacing them. We have not removed or interfered with the programmer since installation, as it was outside the scope of our works.
From your description and the engineer’s findings, the wiring issue appears to relate to older cabling from a previous installation. The fabric or paper-style insulation suggests it may pre-date 1970, indicating that while the property has been rewired in places, the heating system wiring itself may not have been upgraded at the same time.
We fully understand your concern at this discovery, but as this wiring was per-existing and not altered by our engineers, it does not stem from our installation and is therefore not something we are responsible for.

Thank you for your further response. We have looked again into this matter and reviewed the records we hold.
The only information available to us are the before and after photographs of the boiler and programmer, which both appear to be working with no visible signs of damage. We have also spoken directly with the engineer who carried out the installation and he has confirmed that the programmer was not damaged or replaced during the works.
From a technical perspective, we do not understand how paper or string could be left inside a new programmer, as the issue you describe is characteristic of much older wiring.
To allow us to review this fully and fairly, we kindly ask if you could provide us with:
Any photographs you have of the alleged damage inside the programmer.
A copy of the written report from your local engineer who inspected it.
Once we have this information, we will be able to assess the situation further and provide a more detailed response.
