Initial £4,000 payment was paid twice…

Initial £4,000 payment was paid twice and kept by them, then ignored our attempts to recover the extra payment. Its been 12 months now and they aren't responding to any attempts to communicate with them. Avoid.

Had to chase via the Communications Ombudsman after every timescale provided was exceeded. Ombudsman found in our favour.
Have now received an apology letter but not the funds or the goodwill payment which the letter claims has already been paid. It hasn't.

Promise of payment in future from Communicating Britain - Ombudsman had to chase Communicating Britain via their Overdue Remedy team because this exceeds the 28 deadline the supplier is bound by with their service.

**Recently received today**
Communications from the Ombudsman 11th April advising Connecting Britain is being removed from the Ombudsman's service!

Connecting Britain are ignoring all attempts to contact.

Massive red flag.

They eventually paid when we threatened legal action.

Amusingly, they've just tried to flag the review as fraudulent, which TrustPilot knocked back immediately, then they've settled for leaving the reply saying they'd paid.

Honestly if you do one thing this year, make it avoiding this company.

1st class support

Have been dealing with these guys for some time now and all the support our business has received has been 1st class. They are super helpful and professional in everything they have done for us. Big thanks to all the team!

Beware of Connecting Britain & their…

Beware of Connecting Britain & their terms and conditions.

Connecting Britain Limited acquired the business of the Halo Tech Group which is now in Compulsory Liquidation (year 1 annual progress report has now been published at Companies House and is in the public domain).
The same people appear to be doing the same tasks in the same location.

If you are a business considering instructing these people to provide internet, broadband, wifi, or telephone services you MUST read the terms and conditions before you sign up.

Even give thought to walking away from their proposal if you don’t like their terms and conditions.

One of their terms reads that if you cancel their contract you must give 90 days notice but notice can’t be given before the minimum term:
“Where the Customer is a small business customer, the Customer may terminate the Contract by giving 90 days’ notice in writing to Connecting Britain such notice to become effective no earlier than the expiry of the Minimum Term.” (Taken from their website, so in the public domain).
The minimum term is usually 5 years.

You will also have to pay the termination charge that is the equivalent of the unexpired term of the contract:
“Upon termination of this Contract before the expiry of the Minimum Term for any reason by the Customer or the Company pursuant to clause 12.4, the remainder of the full contract value which has not been reached will become immediately payable. A termination invoice will be issued to the Customer payable forthwith, which will include (but not limited to) the value of the remaining term that would have otherwise been paid by the Customer.” (Taken from their website, so in the public domain)

So if you signed up for 60 months and cancel after 3 months then you still have to pay for the remaining 57 months. But you have to pay all at once.

Their contract also has terms in it (if you read it carefully) that doesn’t actually oblige them to provide you with a working service:
“The Customer acknowledges that the Services in general will not be error free and agrees that the existence of such errors shall not constitute a breach” (Taken from their website, so in the public domain)

So realistically you can sign up for 5 years, the service never work, and yet it looks like you have to keep on paying.

The latest thing appears to be monthly payments are fine unless you fail a credit check then the entire contract must be paid up front:
“Any guarantee made by Connecting Britain regarding no upfront costs is subject to the Customer having eligibility to the credit necessary to pay for our services as All finance/lease applications are subject to status. In the event that it subsequently transpires that the Customer is ineligible for finance, unanticipated upfront costs may apply for which the Customer is liable. If the contract taken out with Connecting Britain is cancelled by you, the customer, the remaining contract value will be due from the customer pursuant to Clause 12.6.” (Taken from their website, so in the public domain).

I suppose they won’t be keeping customer deposits or up front payments in a separately identifiable client money account. It’s unlikely that any pre-payments paid over for future years will be protected.

They also now appear to want personal guarantees from directors in their contract, so by signing as a director be aware that your personal liability may not be limited to that of the company. You may have to pay personally if your company defaults.

This organisation appears to operate on the basis that their customers are going to default and so they will pursue to court and enforcement. Which they do. 

Because it is a business-to-business service there appears to be no protection from unfair contracts and business people are assumed to understand what it is they are getting involved with. Which is not always true.

Connecting Britain’s last filed accounts at Companies House are for a “micro entity”. Yet this small company (who had an average of 9 employees during their 2024 financial year- taken from their micro accounts filed at Companies House) appears to employ a trainee barrister as their in-house legal team (See LinkedIn).

So you have to ask yourself why does such a small company need an in-house legal person?
Is it possibly to deliberately pursue the customers who haven’t read the terms and conditions fully?

They take people to court and they win.

I was in court with a friend who was taken to court by these people and lost.

Any businessman reading this would surely undertsand you should read terms and conditions of a contract.

Our contract has been presented to the Ombusman and they have advised it is legally binding

Awful company that ignore you when they owe you money.

Terrible treatment of loyal customers.

Please don't touch with a barge pole.

We ended up being a customer of Connecting Britain after they bought some of Halo Connect's contracts (another company of dishonest people).

Last May, Martin Ford persistently contacted me and came up with a good deal for us to sign another 5 year contract with them. They agreed that they would cover the early termination fees from our existing leasing agreement, and that they would give us 3 months free in our new contract.

I invoiced Connecting Britain as instructed in order to get these things paid, and the accounts / finance department agreed that everything was OK, and that we would be paid within 30 days - this was at the end of July 2024.

After several months of chasing payment I raised a complaint. The complaint was upheld at the end of Dec 2024, and they said we would be paid within 30 days.

We are now on 2nd April 2025, and guess what, we still haven't been paid. No one is responding to emails or phone calls.

Very disappointed with Martin Ford who was very empathetic to our experience with Halo Connect (who owe us more than £1000) and assured me that we wouldn't experience the same with them. Clearly just a tactic to try and get me to sign another 5 year contract.

Cleverly, they use a leasing company to sell the phone equipment and phone package to, so that our contract is not directly with Connecting Britain, so it looks as though we are stuck with a company that treat their customers with no respect, for another 4 years.

Such a shame, as we have no issues with the phones themselves, and their technical support are really helpful, but your non-existent customer service has really let you down.

P.S. I really don't like to leave negative feedback, but when no one responds to calls, emails, or messages I have left, there is no other option.

Had an issue with my phone going out of service. Marvin went out of hsi way to resolve the issue for me. He was patient when instructing me how to re set the system and followed up to ensure everything was OK. Top service

Rubbish company

This company double charge you and don't give you the money back. i would keep away from this company.

Well I was contacted by the person responsible for the reviews on trustpilot, who was oh very sorry that we had had this problem and assured me that I would get our refund of the double payments that they had be taking to the tune of £611 directly from the financial director who was on holiday at the time but I was promised a payment by the end of the week. Well that was over 2 weeks ago and still no payment.
So they cant even carry out what they promise.

This has now been resolved thank you

Service visit / replacements

Lee arrived on site on time as planned, nice friendly guy. Explained everything which was scheduled for this visit, slight issue with a power supply but no fault - item re-ordered and informed when it should arrive.

Robbie and James did an excellent job…

Robbie and James did an excellent job installing/updating our internet network. They were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Although we faced a few hiccups with setting up the Wi-Fi and access points, they handled the situation calmly and efficiently, ensuring everything was working perfectly before they left. Their expertise and dedication made the experience smooth and stress-free. I highly recommend their services—great job, Robbie and James!

A very poor company, stay away

A very poor company. Very pushy with sales promising the earth but haven’t delivered anything. I signed a 4 year contract but the credit check failed so they are billing me for the whole contract of 6k + when they haven’t provided a service. Now they are threatening me with court action. Stay well away. I also emailed them trying to cancel a contract which is now out of date and they sent me threatening email about cancellations again with a big bill. How when I am out of contract and the contract wasn’t even taken out with connecting Britain. They have continued to send me invoices of the out of date contract which have doubled in price as well ignoring my request to cancel. Then I had a heart attack in November due to pressure and they continued to hound me. Before the renewal of the new contract the sales man knew I was struggling financially but still wanted me to sign a new contract. When the credit failed the only alternative was to pay the whole contract in 2 or 3 payments. If I fail the credit check how am I expected to pay the amount in full? Seems like a con to me, who pays their phone contracts upfront for 4 years?
All this seems to happened knowingly to me. I would be surprised if they are in difficulty themselves. They don’t seem to have an accounts team that you can speak to like other companies, just a legal that send you emails.

What you are failing to mention in your review are the below facts.
You have been a happy customer of CB for 3 years.
You contacted us to renew your contract.
We renewed your contract in good faith, you failed credit, we contacted you to discuss other options and you advised us you had health problems, we left you a couple of months to allow you to recover.
We contacted you last week, to advise we had another funder who would accept your application, at the point you where rude to the caller and advised you would not be proceeding with the contract.
We had no choice to issue cancellation.

DO NOT USE!

Service I’ve been receiving has been really shocking! DO NOT USE! - Connecting Britain have taken over from The Halo Tech Group which was even worse... Trying to run two businesses on a poor quality dongle and get fobbed off all time over the phone - emails don’t get responses. I am now expected to pay over £900 to leave something that I haven’t even got set it properly from the get go… Don’t go down the path they have lead me down honestly I’m so upset and frustrated...

You contacted us and asked us to terminate your agreement, we agreed to terminate your contract with us even though you had 5 months remaining, we advised you to contact the lease company and we assume ethe £900 your referring to is in relation to this. Do not get involved with this company in any way or form , they took over our account from Halo complete and utter cowboys we had nothing but trouble with lost internet and terrible Chines leased phones , we let our contract run out , and we have since retired we are now receiving bills and and threats over breaking our contract three mothe later although we had paid our final outstanding amount , we also tried to return the leased phones that we could have paid for ten times with what we have paid , you will receive bills but not an address to return the equipment , be warned have nothing to do with this terrible company ,
