Warning
Warning: They came, did nothing useful, and still wanted money
My boiler broke down last month. I called Custom Heat in Rugby. An engineer arrived the next day, spent about 30 minutes, and then admitted he didn’t know what the problem was. He told me I needed to call electricians from the same company. No diagnosis. No repair. Nothing of any real use.
When I asked about the cost and when the electricians could come out, he said the office would contact me. Nobody did. For over a week there was complete silence. They showed no interest in whether I had heating or not, or whether I was left cold. It felt like once the van left, I simply stopped existing for them.
Only after about two weeks did they finally get in touch – not to arrange the electricians, not to check if I had heat, and not to offer a proper solution. They contacted me only to demand payment for a visit that achieved nothing. They even claimed they had already sent an invoice by email that I never received.
This is a clear warning to others: they can send someone who does nothing useful and still try to charge you for it. In my case the only thing that seemed to matter was getting paid for a service that never really happened.

Trust worthy engineer.
The engineer that came out to us was on time , polite and thorough. Explained e erything to us and answered any questions. Cleared up after he had fi ished. Service cost a bit pricey but worth it for the peace of mind.

Boiler noise not fixed after £318 and nearly 2 months
I booked a boiler service with Custom Heat on 23/10/2025. At the time, my 5 years old boiler made a loud, vibrating noise every time it ignited. The engineer wouldn't comment on it because the visit was "strictly a service". I had to book a separate call-out to get it looked at.
The call-out engineer (18/11/2025) came across as short and irritated. When I asked about the quality and lifespan of my boiler, he said it was "rubbish" in an annoyed tone. That wasn't a helpful or professional answer for a paying customer.
A new injector was apparently needed. It was fitted on 24/11/2025, but the noise wasn't resolved. It stopped temporarily, then returned.
I was then told further parts would probably cost under £100. The quote I received on 09/12/2025 was £258, with no assurance it would fix the problem. I declined.
What I paid:
- Service: £120
- Call-out: £96
- Part fitting: £102
Total: £318, with the original fault still not fixed
It took almost 2 months from the service to the final quote. I'd have appreciated clearer communication up front, a more professional attitude on site, and a realistic estimate of the cost to fix the issue.
