Not necessarily a scam but their documents have no legal standing. The prices on their website are not clear either, they tried to charge me £50 3 days after I made the application, at 4pm, obviously... Ver más

My eldest wanted his name changed for his 18th birthday and my friend recommended going through Deed Poll as her sister had used them in the past.
I found the site straight forward to use. I did initially expect to pay £36. I didn’t realise you would need additional documents as some organisations/banks like to keep originals ect. Obviously you have to pay extra for those and I did decide to use their archive service (again that’s another fee) but it’s all clearly explained and priced plus you don’t have to add it if you don’t want to.
I thought customer service was quite helpful too. I messaged them before purchasing to double check a few things over. And again when I was waiting for delivery and they replied straight away with answers.
My reason for 4 stars is purely on the time it’s taken to receive the documents. I think they need to be more clear on process/delivery time. I picked standard delivery as I was in no rush which on the site says 2-4 working days. I ordered on Thursday 17th so expected to receive them latest by Wednesday 23rd. When I still hadn’t received them by Thursday I had a look on their Q&A page and it said it takes 2 days to process the paperwork, so I presumed I hadn’t received them because I needed to add the extra 2 days to the delivery time (which would make it Friday 25th latest) I got a little worried when I still hadn’t received them by Saturday, so dropped them an e-mail and they replied straight away saying, I had pick standard delivery which takes 4 working days and that they where in the post and I would receive it early next week. They finally arrived on Tuesday 29th. 12 days after ordering (8 working days) Like I said I wasn’t in a rush to receive them but for peace of mind it would have been nice to know a realistic timeline or estimate delivery date. Or maybe drop an e-mail when the documents are dispatched.
Over all I was happy with the service and would recommend to others.
Edit : Reply to Deedpoll
Just an e-mail saying your order has been processed and dispatched and should be with you in 2-4 days would be sufficient. You could also e-mail if there’s a delay saying apologies due to high volumes your order has been delayed and we’ll update you when it’s dispatched. But I feel you wouldn’t need to do the delayed e-mail if you made the process time more clearer on your website. I saw 2-4 days delivery and presumed I would get it within 2-4 days. I only found out about the process time after going through you Q&A page. And I didn’t even know that it could be delayed further if you had a high number of priority orders until you just mentioned it. Making that a little more clearer on the delivery page would help. Like I said I wasn’t in any rush but I did start to worry after a week that it may have been mis-delivered or lost. But I got in touch and you replied straight a way which reassured me. Hope that helps.

I writing this to warn people of ongoing rip off scaming behaviour from this companies I have experience, I could see on trustpilot there is another company with the exact same information and could see the same link but have low rating, however both are linked with the same website so I am notifying trustpilot these companies are two of the same or there something else going on.
I have paid for in the past legal documents from other compaines and high courts and they have never requested extra, they amended or refunded but not requested more money.
I required a deed poll document for legal purposes and the business who requested I use this particular deed poll company and high courts strand and no other.
I completed their online form and paid for what they stated in their page for adult deed poll £30 turned into £57
I paid for it, with additional £6 for speedy delivery.
It arrived, however to get the legal documents I will require to complete the draft to my knowledge and get it signed by someone you know and you will reqiure post back the free post documents to the company to receive the two legal documents.
When I took the draft to legal appointment they requested I change one detail on the document, so I emailed the company straight away
for one change of detail to the document, which is adding additional name, bare in mind I still haven't received the two legal copies yet until I return the original, they mentioned via email,
I will require to pay another £48 on top, they litterally calculated random fees for a new document to be issues I kindly asked this company to explain and the email narrative changes.
I haven't received what I paid for so can you kindly emend it by adding the additional name, that's it.
Their response via email is the document I am asking for is complex?
How ?
Its adding another name to the deed poll.
I had tried to contact this company today 3 x by calling them via the phone, the phone does not connect.
All I want is the amended document I paid, I have spent the whole day going backwards and forwards via email.
It's disgusting and outrageous, I cannot recommend their service, I want to know what this company going to do to rectify this madness.

If I could I'd give it 0 stars absolutely disgusting service asking for more money after not even doing what they where supposed to do, complete bullshit scam of a company, do not trust and would not recommend so be careful people because I've lost my money, disgraceful and would not give them a penny if I'd have known.
Scam - They advertise services they do not provide, then request more money. It is a complete scam.
I was not aware that I could have created my own deed poll for free. You can literally copy and paste the required text off of the government website. I understand this is a company, but it would be good for a disclaimer to be on the website.
However, the deed poll I received looked smart and I used it to change my name with banks and the DVLA.
The only issue I had is with the certified copy. On the deed poll.org.uk website it explicitly states that verified copies will be accepted by the passport office. This IS NOT true. I receive an email from HMPO today asking that I send the original deed poll.
This is not an official service of any kind. You can write a deed poll on the back of a napkin and it's still valid.
Basically, they rely on people who don't know this thinking they need to apply for a deed poll so they can charge you £50+ for a document that didn't need appyling for in the first place.
Absolutely disgusting service
I applied for 2 change of names last year and have come to apply to renew passports this year with the name change. I have faced an issue with the passport service so have contacted this company for help as it states they can help in their email confirming all details. I spoke to an extremely unpleasant unprofessional agent called VERITY. During the call someone walked into the office and she acknowledged them loudly whilst on the phone to me - this was the post person. VERITY continued to speak over me and the aided her voice throughout the call at times huffing loudly. When I asked for her superiors details she asked ‘why’, after asking numerous times I got the name Toby but she didn’t know when Toby would be in the office.
Absolute shambles of a company with extremely unprofessional customer service
Beware of hidden costs and lack of transparency with this company.
They charge you without any breakdown or invoice, and it was simply a surprise on my bank statement.
I requested a refund for the documents that never arrived. Their customer service
(Toby) was horrible. Once I requested refund for undelivered deed poll her response was that they didn't get anything returned by Royal Mail. She simply came up with a response about the number of customers they have snd etc (as another reviewer mentioned) instead of addressing the issue of refund.
More people should share their experience and review of this company so that people don't lose money like I did.
It’s a scam. They have no official prices and make up their prices as they go. They have no understanding of anything legal and they are SO rude. Disgusting company scamming and taking advantage of others. Save yourself the hassle, just go through the official Gov website. It’s so much better!!
I'm surprised by the negative reviews. I first used deedpoll.org.uk around 10 years ago and it was a smooth and easy transaction. I've used them again today and again, so far, it's been a smooth and easy transaction. There was a slight error with the discount not being applied so I emailed customer services and only a short while later got a response with an apology and the error has been rectified.
The documents you receive upon changing your name ARE recognised legally and CAN be used for passports, driving licenses, etc. I've used mine to get a passport and driving licence and will be using my new one when it arrives to renew both of them. The government website says that some places may not accept them, like your bank, but that's down to their own requirements. In which case you'd need an enrolled deedpoll. That said, my bank accepted mine without problems and technically speaking once your passport and driving licence are updated then that's all you'd need to prove your name has changed. Yes, you can do it for free yourself according to the government advice but I'd rather pay to have a professional document proving my name change over a DIY letter done by myself.
I've used this company before, with no issues.
But when I tried to change my sons name, as a single father, they weren't interested and are VERY anti-father. Must be run by a scorn single mother.
I am absolutely not surprised in the slightest at the all the negative feedback.
However, I found a free service and it turns out, these lot have just been charging silly money for two minutes work on some fancy paper.
Just avoid them
All I inquired about was whether a refund was allowed IF PASSPORT OFFICE DOES NOT ACCEPT DEED POLL (which can happen)
REBECCA who emailed me back refused to answer the question TWICE.
I like many others don't have a good word to say. Applied on January 29th 2020 for the deedpoll with a date set for 1 March 2020 as I was waiting for other reasons to change my name on this date.
The site said it will be sent within a week, I even had a phone call within 10 minutes of ordering to confirm the date of 1 March was correct. After not receiving the deedpoll after 2 weeks I just assumed the person that called had got it wrong and I wouldn't receive the deedpoll till after the 1 march had passed.
By 7 March and with no sign of it I sent an email to find out what was the delay to recurve a reply that my order had been cancelled without any notice.
They did offer to send the order out as a priority but for me this was not good enough and have now decided to go elsewhere (governed site) and told them I wouldn't be reordering and asked them to remove me off all their databases and please don't contact me again.
Was somewhat shocked to then receive an email (clearly can't read the do not get back in touch) saying they would cancel my application, hang on, didn't you send me an email stating my application was already cancelled or was that just lies.
Funnily they didn't reply to that email, I can't think why.
As others have put, the pricing is not on the final bill of sale and neither is a breakdown of costs, you have to go looking.
For me my advice is go elsewhere, a dreadful company and lousy customer service.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the other 1 star reviews. These papers have no legal standing at all, the .gov website gives you a template for free to use which will do the same thing. A name change is what you wish to be known as and nothing more. PLEASE READ THE .GOV WEBSITE! Deed polls issued by any co.pany are all unenrolled, so you are just as well to buy the cheapest at £5.99 if you can not be bothered with the free one at the gov website. Fees are not clear at point of sale, which I personally will be making an official complaint to officials as not only under consumer rights but also to companies house. I was shocked to find that there is no sale price at the point of sale once all details were entered, the agreement of sale is not made clear at all. It is almost like buying an item with no price tag. I did call about this and they simply tried to justify why I should use them against the gov website, this was appalling as I started to feel sorry for her. She even tried to justify how many they do a year and even mentioned that they get this type of complaint all the time! Well if they get this all the time why are they still not improving there service instead they want to side blind people into paying! None of these documents are legal and are not on any official register. The only official enrolled register is via the gov website which yes you do require a solicitor to sign and oath for you but I think I would rather do that and pay that bit extra. I have had a quote from a solicitor of £5 to sign my deed poll, plus the £36 from the .gov fees, so not the hundreds the company claims. They are scaring people into thinking this is right!
Not necessarily a scam but their documents have no legal standing. The prices on their website are not clear either, they tried to charge me £50 3 days after I made the application, at 4pm, obviously trying to catch me off guard. Luckily I didn't have the funds in my bank account. They then phoned me so I asked them to cancel my application.
If you need deed poll services use the gov.uk website, it's the only one with legal standing.
I think it’s either a scam website or a scam phone number they messaged me from. They wanted to take payment over the phone but I refused to do so. They then texted with : “We have cancelled your application”....
