If I could give a minus review I would, the decline in EBS customer service is terrible. I have tried 4 time to get through to the customer service because there was a problem with online sales not going through because there new app is beyond bad. I have not been able to get through to them on there customer phone line, on 2 of the attempts to get through I waited up to 1 HOUR. Shocking you can’t access your on money !!!Time to change bank !!!!!

I thought online banking was meant to be easy- obvs not in EBS' case. Trying to get my PAC activated is like trying to walk through the gates of heaven- have rang EBS internet banking as only they can activate it and I've been left on hold 4 separate times for 20+ mins. I also emailed them and whilst there is standard reply within seconds 3 weeks later I'm still awt for a person to contact me- give up and all I wanted to do was save money! Going to use Credit Union and close EBS account - maybe thats what they want us all to do????

Over 20 years as an EBS customer and the service has steadily gone downhill. Their failure to keep pace with the modern banks has meant that many of their services are too complicated to use and you eventually give up. The latest debacle is trying to activate my new card. 5 calls all on hold for over 25 minutes and still no contact. Steer well clear of these guys, they are still in the dark ages. I will be looking to close my accounts.
Poor customer service
I got locked out of my online account even though I had entered the correct codes as I had them written down in front of me. Since then I have tried calling the helpline on numerous occasions but I can not get any answer even having stayed on the phone for 30 minutes each time. Still locked out of my account and bewildered with the inefficiency of customers service.

Went into a local branch in Wexford to open an account as there are no fees. Provided a Transfer Wise statement for proof of address which I was told would be fine. 2 weeks later I emailed to ask if it had been accepted. I was told it had not.
Provided a statement from my credit union. They said it would be ok and would confirm.
2 weeks later I asked if it had been accepted, they said yes and to come in.
Another 2 weeks later and having received several letters including PAC number etc I've been on hold for what feels like another 2 weeks trying to confirm the PAC number.
Please don't put yourself through this, I've heard credit unions are now providing current accounts.

I just want to say I love banking with EBS. In particular their Rathmines branch where the staff are head and shoulders above all others. Its a rare thing theese days to experience servis such as is provided in the Rathmines branch. Long may it last. A big thank you to all the girls there from me. Christy Spain

Strange rules, Poor service
I went to open Money manager account with them basically to lodge my salary. But they rejected application just because I requested to include my full name (as in passport). They just want to use first and last name. And even not ready to include initials of second, third name.
Good that I experienced their poor service even before opening the account and didn't went ahead to open account.

I am Irish and living in the UK and just wanted to retain an Irish bank account. OK no bells and whistles and the internet banking is basic but it’s free! If people wanna pay a monthly fee to have ApplePay and an iPhone app then fine go ahead! but this account is perfect for me!

I have a mortgage with ebs and savings accounts etc some staff can be nice, phone service not bad. But closed all weekend and not the most modern accessible bank. For example if your card blocks while outside of the country which happened to me once - wasn't that much fun that weekend. I had back up funds but not a lot of cash. I just think it's the year 2021 and their should be 24hr banking or even open for a few hours at the weekend to help resolve things like that and also cards take too long to be reissued. Ir can take 2 weeks issued from them because normal post etc is so slow. Oh and as someone notes below I constantly have to try several times to log in online as the codes don't reach my phone and it drives me mad. It shouldn't be that hard. I end up using the one time code but it is irritating.
Extremely poor internet banking
While EBS staff are pleasant and helpful at their branches and account costs are low, the technology they use is very outdated and poor and the length of time it takes to make a transaction is far too long. The internet banking system they use is unreliable, slow, and unwieldy. It takes me about 6 attempts to get online every time I try to use it. It regularly gives errors. There is no app available. Tech-wise they are completely out of date. Disappointing.
