As this product is made from natural coconut fibres, a small amount of shedding can occur initially—this is quite normal with coir matting, especially during the first few weeks of use as any loose fibres from manufacturing settle. However, this should reduce over time with regular use.

When a product features a gripper rubber backing specifically designed to reduce movement on carpeted floors, you rightly expect it to stay firmly in place. Our goal is always to provide premium quality that fully justifies the cost, so it is highly disappointing to learn that this particular mat is performing similarly to your less expensive alternatives in this specific regard.
We are very grateful that you noted there is nothing wrong with the product's overall quality or our service. It is wonderful to hear that those aspects met your expectations. However, we certainly do not want you to feel like you overpaid for an item that isn't working as intended in your space. While the gripper backing is highly effective on many carpets, the level of grip can occasionally be affected by the specific pile depth, density, or texture of the carpet underneath. Sometimes, thicker or more plush carpets can cause even gripper-backed mats to slowly "creep" over time as foot traffic pushes against the pile. Regardless of the underlying reason, this doesn't change the fact that you are unsatisfied with the result in your home, and we want to fix that.

Technical incompetence and a misleading 4.8-star rating
Our experience with First Mats (Order #53823) was the complete opposite of their 4.8-star rating, which we now find highly questionable. For a business that claims to be a 'specialist,' their lack of technical accuracy and poor after-sales care caused significant delays to our new shop launch.
Dimensional Failure: Despite multiple consultations to ensure a correct fit, the mats arrived 3cm short on both length and width. This wasn't just a minor error; it made the mats completely unfit for the intended floor space.
The 'Expanding' Mat Myth: We confirmed a 0.9mm thickness and had builders level our floors to this exact specification. The mats arrived at only 0.5mm. When challenged, the team claimed the mats would 'open up' to the correct thickness once unwrapped. This was a blatant misstatement—mats do not double in thickness over time.
Hostile After-Sales: The support was dismissive and unhelpful. To receive a refund for their manufacturing errors, they forced us to physically cut the mats in half and send photo evidence of the destruction. It is a wasteful, unprofessional policy that showed zero respect for our time.
If you are a business owner requiring technical precision and professional accountability, do not be misled by the high rating here. Our experience was one of wasted money, wasted time, and a total lack of expertise. Avoid.

1. Technical Precision & Pantone Matching
To achieve the exact Pantone colour matching your branding required, we had to use a specific production path. Unlike standard mats, these must be produced with a border and then trimmed on-site to achieve a borderless look. All our mats undergo vulcanisation—a high-heat bonding process. This can cause the rubber to shrink. While we produced the mats oversized to account for this, the shrinkage on this occasion exceeded that margin. Under our no-quibble guarantee, we would typically resolve this with a priority replacement, but your initial correspondence requested an immediate refund rather than a correction.
2. Pile Compression & Thickness
Our logo mats are pressed flat during production to ensure the printer captures fine details with crisp resolution. They are then rolled tightly for shipping. We advised that the fibers "relax" and reach their true height once unpacked—a standard physical property of high-quality textile mats. Our 0.9mm specification refers to the total thickness (base + pile); measurements taken of the compressed pile alone do not reflect the full technical spec of the product.
3. Our "No-Quibble" Policy
We stand by our 4.8-star reputation, which has been built over years of service to thousands of businesses. Because these were custom-made, Pantone-matched items, our policy for a full refund requires proof of disposal. This is a standard procedure that allows us to honor our Satisfaction Guarantee and release funds immediately without the customer needing to arrange or pay for a bulky return.
Conclusion
Despite the disparaging tone of the initial contact, we acted in good faith and issued a full refund for Order #53823. While we regret that we weren't given the opportunity to rectify the sizing issue with a replacement, we are pleased that we could resolve the matter financially for you.

The mat is fine but the delivery and the pressure to buy. Constant emails and even phone calls.
We ordered the mat on the headings that we needed for a set date which you told me it would be no problem at all, but it was 2 days late. we ordered it in plenty of time and was promised that it would be on time. It seam to me all you were interested in was selling the mat at any cost did not matter if it arrived on time.
Any other time a late delivery would not bother me but we had ordered it for a specific reason and we were totally let down.

hour’s notice, so when I was not there they refused a neighbour’s offer to take it in. I received a text saying they would deliver the next day but it was 3 days later that they tried delivering to the wrong address. Luckily I saw the driver knocking at the wrong door and managed to intercept him or he would have failed to deliver again as the occupants were not at home
