I’ve been bringing my cars to Dessie’s Tyres for around five years and, until today, I’d always had a positive experience.

This morning I arrived with a badly damaged tyre and simply asked where I should park. I didn’t understand the instruction I was given, so I asked again. Instead of clarifying, the conversation became unnecessarily confrontational.

At that stage, I was frustrated and, sitting in my car, I said “F*** this” to myself about the situation. It wasn’t directed at the manager or anyone else. Unfortunately, he took it personally. I tried to explain that I wasn’t speaking to him, but he didn’t seem interested in hearing my side of the story. Rather than argue, I decided to leave and take my business elsewhere.

I went to another tyre shop in Carrigaline where the staff were polite, listened to what I needed, and got the problem sorted straight away.

Because I’d been a customer for years, I later returned to Dessie’s hoping to speak with the manager and clear the air. Unfortunately, that conversation turned into the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had.

The manager became physically aggressive and attempted to physically attack me. Thankfully, members of his own staff stepped in and tried to calm the situation down.

What disappoints me most is that this wasn’t just a bad interaction with a staff member. This was the manager — the person who should be setting the standard for customer service and representing the business.

It’s a shame because I’ve supported this business for years and had good experiences in the past. Sadly, after today’s experience, I won’t be returning.

IF YOUR CAR BREAKS DOWN AND RAC WANT TO DROP YOU OFF HERE, TELL THEM TO TAKE YOU TO ANOTHER GARAGE.

My clutch went in the centre of Bham so RAC dropped my car here. I paid to get it fixed and Steve wanted an extra £350 to ‘fix the shock absorber’. I told them to just sort the clutch which I paid £720 for. I drove it back the next day and the clutch went again! Steve tried to blame overheating despite it not being in any traffic then he basically tried to imply it was my fault the car broke down again. He also was condescending and patronising suggesting that me not replacing the shock absorber caused the clutch to go again. I’m not a mechanic and I had to remind him “you know full well the shock absorber has nothing to do with me being able to go into gear or not!” He also said how the car was working fine when he test drove it earlier so why would it have suddenly stopped working properly - basically trying to gaslight me. No apology for his shoddy work. Then he tried to get me to pay £190 to haul it back to Bham so they could actually fix it this time. By this point I’d called my local trusted garage and managed to drop it off to them after driving 30 mins in 2nd gear.

My garage thankfully linked the clutch properly which they had failed to do, it was also the Nearside Mount that needed replacing, not the shock absorber so that would have been over £1K down the drain altogether if I’d have listened to Steve at this garage.

DO NOT TRUST THEM! THEY JUST WANT TO MILK YOU FOR AS MUCH MONEY AS THEY CAN GET OUT OF YOU.

I don’t recommend this place. First, they told me two parts needed to be replaced even though they weren’t actually bad. I said I would get the work done somewhere else, and they didn’t like that. After I replaced the part and went back, they didn’t want to do the wheel alignment on my car. They kept delaying it for hours or pushing it to the next day. Don’t waste your time with this place.

I could not recommend this outfit highly enough. I’ve just walked out the door and, for the second time in a couple of years, I went in with an issue with one of my tyres and the lads simply put a small plug in it and wouldn’t even charge me.

I drive a 4x4, so tyres are not cheap when they need replacing, and I can tell you there aren’t too many places that would be as straight down the line and honest in how they deal with customers.

I didn’t even have cash on me to buy them the price of a pint to say thanks.

It’s an incredibly well-run operation from top to bottom — professional, helpful and genuinely sound to deal with.

I’ll be going nowhere else in the future.

First stop .I’ve used them three times now and in all honesty they have been excellent really friendly people go the extra mile and not hard to pay. I cannot not understand how they got any bad reviews I’d give them 10/.10 and have recommended them to friends and family .

Had my tyre pressure monitor valves changed about 6 months prior to going to first stop coolock for a new tyre, they tried to tell me the valve was not working and wanted €160 for one,when I challenged him he walked away.

Yet again Fast fit Coolmine came to the rescue. A strange metal against metal sound was coming from my car and I had to drive to Tipperary. They took in my car straight away, took off the wheels, 'blew out the brakes' and didn't charge a penny. That is the second time I have gone there and the second time they have been wonderful human beings.

Charged me for a tyre that AA said didn’t need replacing and charged me for a tyre balance that wasn’t done. Total amateurs . I would never go back there and do not recommend.

Called into Firststop Santry this morning at 8 am. Car booked in immediately as the coil spring was snapped,opted to have both done as the car is 10 years old. Got the price immediately and received phone updates during the morning as the stabiliser links needed replacing which i was expecting.The car was ready by lunch hour ,so great service highly recommended.

Fast Fit Bray 21FEB25 near 15:30 Friday, need 4 225/45R18 tyres fitted. Ask me pay extra 65EURx4pcs=230 EUR. In fastfit.ie price 235EUR, ask me pay 300EUR. Worst experience ever with this place my advice stay away..... they lie to your face but will gladly take your money.....
Then they tryed to undermine somebody else's work who did the job they couldn't do absolutely shocking

Went in to the garage in Sandyford today. The young lad dealing with my car was very nice, however, the guy in charge was so condescending and sarcastic. Very poor manner. I just left mad. Won't set a foot back in the garage again.

Waste of time and money. I went there to change 2 front tyres. They changed them but one tyre bolt broke. They promised to get it and change it. Of course they didn't get it and didn't ring me like promised.

DO not go anywhere near the place, the manger robbed me by €200 , head office is as bad , gave me back €130 as a good will gesture, couldn’t tell me why the manger of the garage over charged me by €200 there all in on it together,

My car clutch stopped working so insurance recovery took my car to the nearest garage in omni park shopping centre next day I got call from them telling me that my car needs clutch changed and it cost 1800 euro so I told them not to touch it I called one of my friends he's a Mecanic bought clutch master cylinder for 60 euros and got it fixed now it runs very smooth
Just stay away from them

Went in for a puncture repair was told I needed a new Tyre the inside of my tire was ripped.went some were else puncture repair done no rips in Tyre trying to rob local people

One of the worst experience in my life. I don't recommend this garage for any one.please don't give your vehicle to this people. I am telling you its a waste of time and money.

The manager is very helpful and friendly and respectful one nices garages in Tallaght

My mrs went there to get a puncture repair.. she was told it needed to be replaced as it was too close to the wall on the tyre.. she sent me a photo of it and it didn’t, it was 3 inches in from it. I went 200 yards up the road to the other first stop branch, they repaired it no drama. Not the first time iv had a problem with the omni branch.. I can only hope they aren’t stuck one day. Also when I went to complain, there was a customer in the que getting a quote on tyres, he was also in the que in the other branch who fixed it.. he was quoted 95 a tyre in the omni and 90 in the other branch on coolock lane.

Worst experience ever with this place my advice stay away..... they lie to your face but will gladly take your money.....
