I rang up and cancelled my order 3 minutes after ordering as I accidentally selected the wrong card on PayPal.

The staff member said it was cancelled and refunded to the card. I asked if I could pay again over the phone with the correct card he said no order it online again.

I asked if I would get a notification of the cancellation and refund and he said maybe from PayPal but otherwise no.

I reordered and paid again.

I noticed I had not received a refund but assumed it was maybe a delay because of the weekend or my card provider.

Both orders then turned up costing a total of £234. I rang again and told them I had separated the orders and the one that was supposed to be cancelled was ready for collection. I was told collection would be today and the refund should have been processed. I also sent an email stating the same so this was recorded.

It wasn’t collected and 5 full days have now passed. I rang again and was told it hadn’t been collected as the driver said it was too heavy and the staff member noted ‘they were just being lazy’. The orders were packed exactly as sent. I hadn’t made them ‘too heavy’ and had only moved them and stacked them.

I asked why I hadn’t been refunded as I was told 5 days ago and he said they never refunded until goods were collected.

I stated it was impossible that the goods were already dispatched 3 minutes after ordering them when I first cancelled, they obviously hadn’t actioned the cancellation or the refund. He refused to admit this at first even though it was an obvious lie. Instead of just apologising and assuming that although I made the mistake in the first place, I did in fact cancel and was assured it was cancelled within 3 minutes of ordering he repeated this lie over and over again.

Eventually he bothered to read the past phone calls and agreed (for the third time) to make the refund and admitted the order was not despatched when I first rang to cancel.

He would not record a complaint though, refused to get a manager to contact me, refused to contact the driver and suggested I wait at home tomorrow so they could arrange another collection, presumably with the lazy driver.

These staff are utterly incompetent, a minor issue has now turned into me losing £117, contacting GWD repeatedly for 6 days and having now to take two days off work with potentially no chance of this being resolved.

I've placed two orders with Garden Wildlife Direct. Both times my parcel arrived really quickly. They have great products and the prices are good. My garden birds are very happy with the food and I will definitely order again.

I am more than satisfied with the Squirrel proof ground multi feeder that I ordered, it arrived within 48hrs of ordering, well packed, and of much better quality than I was expecting for the price. It came with a selection of 4 interchangeable feeding tubes, peanut, small mesh, seed and fatball. It looks smart on my lawn just below my feeding station, I just hope the birds like it as much as I do, but I expect it will take a while for them to get used to it.

From order to doorstep (including a weekend) in 3 days. What more could you want?! Excellent service. Very good range of great quality products to choose from, competitively priced. Loads of very happy birds here.

All products good value and seem popular with our feathered friends! Promptly dispatched but overall experience badly let down by courier company who had possession of package (confirmed by tracking and e-mail) for almost a week before delivery.
