Incorrect schedule of payments taken from my account instead of the one off cheaper instalment as promised was set up in an email. £12 admin fee per month is almost as much as the insurance premium per month. Crazy. On trying to contact someone to speak about their error, there is no answer to calls or on line messages. Just a very irritating American automated voice message.

A great product with great people behind it!

I was initially helped to get a quote for home insurance at a reasonable price. I made it clear that I only needed it for 6 months and was told that I could cancel and would be refunded pro-rata. I have just asked to cancel my insurance and have been charged 20% commission on the pro-rata refund, as well as a deduction for administration fees for Guardhog, and a £25 cancellation charge. I could understand the loss of admin fees and a cancelation charge, but 20% commission amounted to over £100 and was not mentioned in any of the documents I was sent. When I asked about this I was told a link in one of the emails took me to a document which warned about commission fees, although the % is not mentioned anywhere. This would have changed my decision to go with Guardhog and the way things were handled felt dishonest and underhand to me sadly.

Update - they agreed to refund the £25 administration fee.

Excellent service and very helpful

Had some trouble to start with getting them to answer emails.
But once I was switched to a more helpful employee (Chelsea), the service went like clockwork.
The product is great too: really flexible insurance if you’re airbnb’ing your place. And very good value. Can’t understand why the v traditional insurers aren’t more switched on to what their customers need.

Chelsea was very helpful in explaining the options available to me with regard to taking out home insurance, specifically for guests staying at my property. I was very pleased with the assistance provided, both online and over the telephone.

The quotes from Guardhog were quite competitive. Chelsea who handled our request was very quick and helped get our policy up and running in no time. She also took the effort to make some changes manually to the policy which the system did not allow on a proactive basis without me having to follow up. Will definitely use again.
