I’ve been subscribing to The Calligraphy Box for over a year. I’d been dabbling with calligraphy for a while before, but once I had a regular source of ink, inspiration and expert instruction my practise soared.
Jenni and her team are supportive, friendly and efficient. I’ve bought plenty of extra supplies from the website too - the quality is great.
I’ve got to be honest… I recently thought I’d branch out and try a workshop with another calligraphy teacher; it made me really appreciate Jenni’s warm and encouraging teaching style. She has so much passion for the art of calligraphy and your enjoyment of it. I thoroughly recommend The Calligraphy Box; you’ll be joining a lovely community and benefit from the wonderful teaching and materials.

Where do I begin? I've been a member of The Calligraphy Box's monthly subscription since October 2023. I've enjoyed every box I've ever received and we have a thriving and welcoming online community of global subscribers.

Jenni's instructions are clear and presented in such a way that makes it feel like I'm practicing alongside her. Over the years, and from the very first box, I've enjoyed Jenni's warm and comforting tone, engaging video tutorials, and continued encouragement.

In addition to high-quality video tutorials with lovely production quality, the boxes include a nib to practice with each month in addition to a wonderful handmade ink! The nibs are thoughtfully selected to facilitate a pleasurable experience while following along with Jenni's monthly video and the included paper practice sheets are lovely to write on! Each month, my box is carefully packaged and delivered to my home. The care and attention the team puts into packing each box is evident.

The entire team at The Calligraphy Box is phenomenal. Laura always responds to my emails and she's always immensely helpful and supportive. In addition to my monthly subscription, I've ordered from the online shop -- most recently on 22 July 2025 -- my orders have always shipped promptly, are packaged with care and attention, and the unboxing experience has always been delightful!

I've purchased each Advent Calendar since its inception-- including this year's which I'm already overjoyed about in anticipation of the 2025 holiday season! -- and they've been a fun and creative heartbeat that adds to my holiday experience. The Advent Calendars are amazing.

I've had great experiences from the online store, as well. I love my leather writing mat, brass ruler, handmade pen staves created as a collaborative project with a fellow calligrapher (I love this sense of community, by the way), and everything else I've purchased.

For example, here's my review of the Copperplate Practice Pads offered by The Calligraphy Box:

Let me begin by saying I highly recommend the practice pads for anyone who wants to practice your Copperplate skills. There are ample opportunities to practice the foundational Copperplate strokes using the tracing method.

The petal soft cover brilliantly showcases both the embossed and printed text alike. The amount of detail that graces the cover is astounding. The vibrancy of the botanical artwork is breathtaking. It’s reminiscent of a William Morris textile print or wallpaper. I’m also reminded of 19th century botanical field journals.

The quality of the paper is excellent, the printed text is crisp and legible, and the paper is bright enough for me to see what I'm doing without straining my eyes. The print quality is top notch and beautifully picks up the hairlines and swells with clarity and precision.

The pages are perforated at the top, if you want to remove the pages as you’re practicing, but I allow mine to dry while remaining affixed to the metal spiral/coiled ring (which is also excellent quality — sufficiently firm and sturdy yet flexible enough not to be so rigid that it’s unusable).

It’s an absolute dream to write on! The paper beautifully accepts the handmade inks prepared by the team at The Calligraphy Box in addition to other popular brands I have, including a variety of Sumi inks.

My entire experience with this practice pads has been nothing short of magnificent! The attention-to-detail, usability, and thoughtfulness in both design and function are unparalleled and the combination of these considerations has contributed to an elevated practice experience for me.

Needless to say, I'm a huge fan. I have thoroughly enjoyed every experience I've had with The Calligraphy Box's team, their support, and the products. They're truly wonderful humans, lovely to work with, and I look forward to receiving my box each month.

This is the subscription to buy if you want to learn the beautiful art of calligraphy. The video is so very helpful because Jenni shows you how to start---everything from cleaning the pointed nib to how to sit to get the best results (it does make a difference). The box is beautiful and full of everything you need to start, plus the online store has lovely things ! Very happy with everything and glad I signed up for the year ! Can't wait till the next one !

The Calligraphy Box provides a thoughtful, effective and engaging way to learn calligraphy. Being a good calligrapher requires frequent practice and attention to detail. Through the beautiful monthly boxes of well-selected tools and materials, and especially the high quality video lessons, The Calligraphy Box team ensures its subscribers boost their calligraphic skill and knowledge. The team is responsive to questions and creates a community invested in their calligraphic practice who support one another. Being a monthly subscriber has brought joy and increased skill into my life and I highly recommend it.

I love the format Jenni and her team have created. It’s a lovely surprise every month to find out what the lesson topic is. The boxes are beautifully packaged and themed - the cover, contents card and booklet all share the design for that month, there’s a nib & ink each month (or something else related to the theme eg brush pens, cards or envelopes), an indepth guide to a particular letter and suggestions/inspirations for practice. The video lessons themselves are high quality, Jenni is passionate about calligraphy and takes her time to explain & demonstrate the lesson clearly.
I really like the new format & the app which lets you connect with other subscribers, access previous lessons & downloaded guidesheets. It’s a wonderful treat for yourself or would make a fantastic gift for anyone interested in calligraphy.

I have been a member of The Calligraphy Box for a few years now and absolutely love the lessons, inks and nibs provided every month. Each month has a different theme from beginners through to copperplate and Spencerian script, and everything in between. If you are looking for a hobby in todays ever changing digital world, give the Calligraphy Box a chance to slow down, switch off and connect to something deeper with the lovely Jenni to teach you how to relax and enjoy calligraphy ably assisted by Laura and the back room staff. You get a box posted out with lots of goodies every month and a link to an informative video lesson by professional calligrapher Jenni. The Calligraphy Box is a gem of a find. I wanted to get back into calligraphy and looked at different websites to restart my learning. I am so glad I decided to go with The Calligraphy Box.
Jenni Laura and the rest of the team are fantastic. They are always ready to help and if there are problems they rectify them quickly and efficiently.
The monthly boxes contain access to Jenni teaching for a minimum of 1.5 hours on that months topic and all the instructions are clear and informative with an accompanying booklet to follow along with.

In the last 6 weeks, I have placed quite a few orders on The Calligraphy Box, and each time I have been beyond pleased with both the products and the service!

Everything has always arrived in perfect condition; they package everything so securely that I never have any concerns, even when I am purchasing more fragile items.

The calligraphy ink that they make in-house is so vivid, and there are so many lovely colours to choose from, both matte and metallic; it’s such a lovely formula that I just love it so much. It’s not too watery and it’s not too thick; it just flows so nicely straight from the jar, and you get a decent amount of it too! I have bought a couple of their Mystery Ink Bundles and their Metallic Bundle, and I have never been disappointed by the colours I received in my mystery bundles, and the metallic ones just look so shimmery and beautiful!

All the nibs I have purchased have arrived with the most thoughtful and elegant packaging; they all come on backing cards that tell you the name of the nib and also have some really useful information like what that particular nib is used for, which I have found to be really helpful. Their blank practice pad is of amazing quality; the paper is smooth so no nib snagging, the sheets are easy to remove, and are transparent enough to put printed guidelines underneath so you don’t have to draw the lines out. I love using mine.

One of my favourite things that they sell though is their Copperplate Practice Pads! Once again, the paper is so perfect it is honestly a dream to work with, and as I have only been doing calligraphy for 6 weeks (using The Calligraphy Box’s Subscription), I am more prone to laying down too much ink or not always having the correct angle on my nib, etc. So if it can withstand all that, then it’s definitely a quality paper! The traceable sheets are honestly so great; you get 2 sheets dedicated to each basic stroke and each letter, 1 full A4 sheet, and one that is almost a full sheet. There is a section at the top of the page that is dedicated to both a visual and written explanation of how to correctly do the basic stroke and how to form the letters, and then you also get some blank guidelines and some different words you can trace over and practice too. They are wire-comb bound, so they lay flat, and the pages are also perforated so you can remove them if you prefer that method. I must also say the covers are beautiful; they are different shades of green and are a really beautiful matte/soft touch cardstock which has some gorgeous gold foiling on it too!

Honestly, I cannot praise them enough; their products are just incredible, and their customer service is exceptional too. Whenever I have had a question, they have promptly replied and answered every question I had and more! Definitely won’t be the last time I order!

The calligraphy box has been a fantastic way to take up a new hobby and get to grips with calligraphy! The boxes are beautifully packaged with everything you need to learn, including ink, nibs, templates etc, but most importantly the fantastic follow-along video lessons by Jenni. She is an excellent teacher with clear explanations, making the learning experience so much more enjoyable. The community platform is also fantastic, and a great way to see how other members are doing. Would highly recommend!!

This company understand the importance of stand-out packaging and what a lovely surprise to receive all you need to practice calligraphy in a pretty box! I now have several different coloured inks and guidance as to how to form the different letters and can follow the advice and information on their web site. A wonderful and calming activity for any age and such a unique gift for someone special in your life.

I subscribed for 8 months and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my whole time with The Calligraphy Box and having access to the FB network of calligraphers which the box provides. Jenni is an excellent and amiable teacher. I’ve enjoyed all her lessons and learnt so much. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and have loved my time doing these boxes. I’ve had to move on now but had no problems with cancelling online. It’s all very clear on the website. I don’t really understand why people get into a bother with subscriptions. The T&Cs were clear to me and I knew what I was signing up for. I do find that these boxes are more theme/project based (each box is different in what it covers) and does not follow a logical thread. If you need to learn in a logical order, then this subscription may not be for you. However, I learnt perfectly fine with the boxes and it worked for me. Thanks Jenni!

I have always loved handwriting but never tried calligraphy before.
I was thrilled to receive my beginners box. I have just watched Jenni’s video. She explained everything so clearly.

I absolutely love my calligraphy subscription box. I’ve only had the beginners one so far and I’m obsessed. Jenni’s video is clear and easy to understand. It felt personal, like I was having a private lesson. The tips and tricks she teaches helped me lots. The box itself is just beautiful, all the packaging is fully recyclable, which I love! The pen holder is stunning! I’m already excited for my next box and to see how I improve with my skills.
