Incorrect website, wrong parts, trash customer service

What a joke - their claim to have a “one box solution” is wrong. Even worse is how their customer service handled (or didn’t handle) the situation. Dude sounded defeated as soon as he picked up the phone. Didnt bother to help beyond saying “send an email with pictures.” Avoid this company at all costs and get a local muffler shop To help. The company advertise that they will give you a $75.00 rebate if you return the old manufacture Catalytic Convertor and if has no damage. THIS IS A SCAM!! I had returned one with no damage and they even sent me a report that all was good but only sent a $25 give card. I could have gotten $70 from the local recycler, my bad because I got greedy for $5.00. Lesson learned!

I bought a catalytic converter complete…

I bought a catalytic converter complete exhaust system for my daughters 2003 VW bug. Right after we installed the check engine light came on and we took it back to the shop. They said it was a code for the converter not functioning properly. We have spent months going back and forth with MF trying to get the warranty honored. They asked for us to send pictures of the converter which we had to go to a shop to get taken and pay to have the car put on a rack so we could take clear pictures. I sent copies of all the shop bills, diagnostics and conclusions from three different shops to confirm the converter was BAD. I am sure they were just hoping that I would give up - however, after all the ridiculous time and energy spend full filling their request - they denied the warranty. There is no warranty on their products because they have no intention of honoring their warranty - BUYER BEWARE -

Poorly manufactured product and customer "support"

I ordered an exhaust for my kid's Honda that was advertised as a direct fit replacement. It arrived in a reasonable amount of time. After removing the old exhaust and starting the installation of the new exhaust, I struggled to get the "direct fit" exhaust into place. The hangers were welded on at awkward angles, making it difficult to get it to fit in properly. Then, when trying for some time to get the final sections in place, I came to determine that the exhaust piping, which was supposed to be "slip in" connections was never flared to allow one section to slip into the other.

I called customer support and was asked to send photos, which I did within 15 minutes. A little while later, I received an email verifying receipt of the pics, and got a response email that they would get back to me "shortly." Several hours later, without a word back, I called back to customer service to discuss the problem. The agent was very short in telling me that there was "24-48" lead time on responses. When I explained that the car was on stands, unusable, the agent stated that there was "one person ahead" of me and I would hear from them shortly. That was more than FOUR days ago, and not a peep from the company.

In the meantime, I had to spend the time and expense to get a pipe expander, to do the job they failed to do in the first place.

Overall, I am highly UNIMPRESSED with both the product/manufacturing and incensed at the lack of product/customer support provided.

Do not support a company that will not stand by its product nor support the customers that spent their hard earned money on expecting quality that Magnaflow is supposed to represent.

Lots of complaints and negative reviews for Magnaflow



I as well as many others have always thought of Magnaflow as a reputable, quality name in business and the automotive industry, as a supplier of quality, and custom exhaust solutions. Recently I personally, along with many others have had a negative experience with this company that I was always led to believe was exceptional, as a well known, big name nationwide distributor of exhaust systems.
I ordered an exhaust system for my vehicle in mid May this year, fully expecting the typical "30 days to ship" as the site states, because the systems are custom made per order. I noticed two charges on my debit card, one that looked right for the $1,200 system, and another for around $80. I reached out to them via email to inquire what this second charge was, and received the automated generic " we got your email, and will respond shortly" message. After a week and a half with no response, I emailed them again and was just ignored again. To this day (a month later) I still have not gotten a response. So now with a bad taste in my mouth, I got worried about my order, so I called customer service. I spoke to a woman there and asked what the lead time was for my order and she informed me that my order likely wouldnt ship out until mid July due to "supply issues", I assume this meant receiving the materials. So if my order ships within that time frame of mid July, two full months will have passed since the date of purchase. Not only was this upsetting, it was even worse that I was not informed of this delay, no email, no call, nothing....just crickets. I understand a supply chain delay, is not their fault, but being that it seems to be a frequent issue, this should be advertised and made known that orders are likely of often going to take longer than the typical 30 day window, so customers can plan accordingly. Because there is no notice of this on the site, they really should reach out and let people know their orders are delayed, not just show a status of "not shipped" in the account purchase details. At the very least, even this "not shipped" could be updated to say "Delayed" with an approximate ship date.
In a lot of cases, a new exhaust system is critical to daily driven vehicles, not all orders are for projects sitting in the garage collecting dust.
How does a professional business accept payment from a customer, then not notify them that their order is delayed and would take twice as long to receive as it should? (they likely knew they didnt have the materials shortly after the sale) This is a shame, and after looking into other reviews for Magnaflow I am seeing a lot of the same thing. Just people upset that nobody bothers to reach out and let them know after spending a big chunk of money, they their orders will take way longer than expected. This is not good when arrangements and coordination needs to be made for vehicles to have this type of work done. On top of the non existant communication and derelict service, I also see a lot of people complaining of their systems not being bent right, not fitting or lining up. With today's technology and a big industry leading company like Magnaflow having done this for many many years, how is it common for so many orders to be so far out of whack it simply cant be used? There are also return and warranty claims going unhonored out there according to complaints, some of which are simply because the pipes didn't line up or hangers were way off spec. I understand mistakes are going to be made, and some vehicles may have flawed specs. I know that there will always be a whiner in every crowd, some that will never be happy with anything when it comes to purchases, and some that blow things out of perportion, but most of these complaints seem valid and people are PISSED! Of course on the Magnaflow website you only see all 5 star reviews from happy customers. When you start wandering into other sites where customer comments aren't hand selected, thats where the angry crowd is. Magnaflow needs to get itself together, and FAST, because there are others out there just waiting to take your customers and claim the throne as industry leader. I'm not sure what happened with this business, but I can say, if I had seen these reviews before purchasing my exhaust there, I would have went elsewhere for it. I didnt feel as though I needed to verify their reputation. It's a shame because I grew up seeing the Magnaflow logo and products in so many automotive stores nationwide. That tells me at one point they were king's of the exhaust performance industry. What happened? If my order is shipped by mid July, and fits as intended, I will be coming back to amend this and let others know that I was pleased with the product I received, even if the service wasn't met with reasonable standards, and my 1 star will become 4.

I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis…

I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis with single exhaust. I got the Magna flow dual exhaust kit for it. The kit does not come with new flange gaskets or the left side muffler and tail pipe frame brackets. These items you will need to install the exhaust. They are easy to acquire and you should get them before starting installation. Other than that it is an easy installation. Exhaust sounds good not loud so it won't bother your neighbors.

Extremely Disappointed with MagnaFlow Order Experience


I was genuinely excited about purchasing a MagnaFlow exhaust. I did my research, watched YouTube videos, and chose MagnaFlow with confidence. I placed my order on January 16th, 2025, intending to have it installed for a trip planned at the end of February.

Unfortunately, despite multiple emails and phone calls over the past four months, I never received the exhaust. The only thing I received was excuse after excuse. Almost every week, customer service told me, “It will ship by the end of next week.” That promise was repeated endlessly with no result.

After months of false timelines and zero progress, I reached a breaking point. When I was told once again that it might ship by the end of the next week, I finally canceled the order. This experience has been extremely frustrating, marked by poor communication and a complete failure to deliver the product I purchased.

So here you go, MagnaFlow, thank you for ruining my trip and killing the excitement of owning a MagnaFlow exhaust.

Magnaflow warranty is a scam !!

Magnaflow warranty is a scam !!! I don't care what you read on the web page it is a lie ! They do not and will not honor it !! They throw every road block to prevent any warranty ! The price of their systems is over inflated , DO NOT PURCHASE anything from Magnaflow ! It has basically NO WARRANTY ! Then if theydo warranty something ? they only send you a piece replacement that does not fit , and say to bad so sad !!!!

Junk. Dimemsions are off. Overall length is an inch or two off the OEM and even with the middle section extended as much as possible, the hamger is still two inches off the OEM measurememts a doesn't line up with underbody. Even worse, pipes look like they were welded on to converter, resonator, and flanges by a bunch of drunken monkeys. Nothing is close to straight. Even with every possible adjustment, the resonator rests against underbody. Had to weld on a bracket to push the entire setup away from underbody and spent way too long screwing around with fittings to try and compensate for bad dimensions and angles/weld. I paid a hefty premium for this "direct-fit" setup when I could have saved $500 and just welded in a universal converter in the same amount of time. I did give it an extra star since the check engine light hasn't come on yet.

magnaflow false advertising

auto repair shop quotes 750.00 for magnaflow converter for my wifes 2007 altima so right away no.so decide to repair myself every place i tried to buy it they sent me something that was not magnaflow which advertises cnc robotic made top of the line seamlessly welded stainless steel well it was none of that!the first customer service call they confirm its not made bye them.evry call after was arguing that it was and they banned my email long story short they are falsely advertising a converter they dont even make 5531295 direct fit.magnaflow is high performance altima 2.5 s is not high performance.a magnet stuck to there top of the line stainless.its hilarious really

Purchased a cat back exhaust for 2000…

Purchased a cat back exhaust for 2000 Corvette, the car is driven perhaps 1000 km/year. So exhaust has approximately 5000 km on it. I recently noticed how rusty it has become so I took picture and hope to ask Magnaflow about the rusty stainless. I filled out a question form in the company website and never got a response. I contacted them a second time without a response again.
Exceptionally poor customer service. I will never buy or recommend Magnaflow to anyone.

VERY LONG WAITS! Just be aware that it is at least a 3 month wait time. I ordered in June 2020 and according to them before I get my item it will be at least 3 months. They have pushed the date 3 times now. Now the date to receive my item has been changed again so.

I have purchased 3 catalytic converters…

I have purchased 3 catalytic converters (for 3 different vehicles) over the past 7 years. I got this most recent one through Auto Zone. My problem has been with the tabs welded on for the heat shield to bolt back on. Not one tab on 3 converters has been where it should be. On the most recent one, the fabricator welded the tab so close to the bolt hole that there was no way the mounting nut was going to mount flush against the flange. This is stuff you cannot see until you have it mounted on the vehicle. Here I am...3 AM. Ive been renting a car for the past 3 days waiting for this part to come in and everything goes great until the end when all is mounted and I realize the tab has been welded too close. What do I do? Take it all back off and wait 3 more days for another part? Pay for a rental for 3 more days? As much as you charge for your product it should be right. The product overall is good. You must have monkeys in the fabrication dept. though. I dont think the product is inspected b4 being shipped out. All I hear is "we take pride in our workmanship". Save it. Your work is half average...3 converters and not a single tab in the right place. For a diy guy like me its a nightmare

Catback Magnaflow fitted to a VW golf…

Catback Magnaflow fitted to a VW golf Gti Mk7 DSG. Worst exhaust sound I have ever heard. The drone is ridiculous. Obviously Magnaflow have no idea when it comes to exhaust systems. Wasted $$$. Will bin the new system so no one else has to suffer. Back to stock system I guess.

ZERO HELP - ZERO SUPPORT

Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe

I purchased this setup just over two years ago for my 91 Fox Mustang GT. I bought this product for two reasons. First, the stock system is restrictive and was original (30 years is a long time on a stock system).

The second reason was better performance since I was having the exhaust system redone anyway.

I am now two months past the warranty, I have only put about 6000 miles on this system (the car is only driven in the summer) and one of the biscuits has come loose. Exhaust shop confirmed my suspicions, so I asked Magnaflow for help. I was given the "sorry, it's past the warranty so there's nothing we can do for you". I explained that this is a pleasure car, it only has a few thousand miles on it, but they are not willing to help in any way.

Then they asked why I was replacing the stock setup, I told them I chose their product for the build quality and performance gain. Their reply was "the original should have lasted the life of the car, so there must be something else wrong, like a "too rich" or "too lean" situation, or burning oil". I was taken back by that. I chose to spend money on a Magnaflow product, and they told me the old one should have been fine. Aren't they in the biz to sell "performance" upgrades?

So I learned something from my conversation with Magnaflow. If you go just beyond the warranty in time, but not in mileage, you are out of luck. Don't buy our product if your stock application is fine, regardless if there is a performance gain. Even after i told them the car was in great working order, we won't warranty a failure of our product, even though the stock system could handle it. This will be my last purchase of ANY Magnaflow products. I have a lot of other Fox Mustang buddies that have asked me about my setup. I will definitely inform them of my discussion with Magnaflow on this situation.

Just got my 900 dollar exaust system…

Just got my 900 dollar exaust system and I never write reviews! Soo I just got it today I looked in the box and noticed the exaust tubes to the dual pipes were bent not a huge deal the pipes still fit but for that much money should definitely not be bent than I noticed the paint was chipped on the exaust tip. Too bad it wont let me post pictures.

Stay Away, Returns are simply unavailable.

Ordered an exhaust for my vehicle. It did not fit. Now 2 weeks later, 6 calls, voicemails and messages to the sales department, completely go unanswered from their return department. Resorted to doing a charge back on the credit card. STAY AWAY

They know nothing about exhausts or customer service

So they have errors in their product selector which flows through to all their distributors who are just using the exact same selector. RRP is set artificially high by the manufacturer to allow the distributors to offer a 10 to 20% discount - there is absolutely no reason to ever pay the RRP. They tried to sell me a naturally aspirated exhaust for my turbo vehicle. Even after I provided data on wheelbase and output (and Ford/Lincoln OEM part numbers that showed the sister vehicles using the same exhaust) they continued to recommend the wrong product. So dumb. Had I listened to them I would have been out of pocket for having to remove the OEM exhaust, attempt install, reinstall OEM and send the Magnaflow product back. Maganflow's customer service is appalling. Perhaps the worst ever because even after numerous emails, letters, diagrams etc. they just did not give a crap at all. Utterly unhelpful and a really bad company when it comes to caring about their customers.
