Something has happened to Maison &…

Something has happened to Maison & White and they are not being forthcoming with information. I placed an order over 2 weeks ago. They have taken my money but have not shipped the goods. Their website is down, they are not answering the phones and I have been referred to another company called Xbite for customer service. Be VERY careful.

I can confirm that the Maison & White sales channel did go into administration but has been bought by a new owner who has transferred all old orders, staff, and stock.
Therefore all orders will still be fulfilled and we will now be focusing on fixing the system issues to get the website and customer experience back to where it used to be.

Be wary of their return policy, and know your rights

I mostly had a good experience with M&W. The product seemed good quality for a good price. However, it wasn't quite right, so I decided to return it. This is where things came a little bit unstuck.

Their T&Cs state you can only return an unwanted item 'if it is unopened and still sealed'. For starters, how are you meant to inspect an item if you haven't opened it? Secondly, this is clearly a breach of UK consumer law which is designed to allow people to change their mind for a product they've been unable to inspect in person.

Through liaising with their very polite and prompt customer service team across several emails I've been able to secure a full refund, including postage. But it just shouldn't be this much effort to do so. And I wonder how many people either haven't bothered, or haven't challenged their legally-dubious T&Cs.

I'm sorry for any confusion that was caused, with our returns policy if an item is unwanted we will receive it back providing it's in the original packaging and unused. We do understand customers open items to have a look and that's fine, we'll still allow you to return it :)

I have used Maison and White bannetons…

I have used Maison and White bannetons before and have been pleased with the results achieved. I hope and expect to achieve the same results with the round bannetons.

Use PayPal to ensure refunds…

Ordered four glass candle holders over two separate orders. One item from each order was defected. Had proof of two separate postage receipts when I sent them back.
They refunded one order then claimed they didn’t have the second part.. yet my tracking showed delivered.
Raised issue with them that the second refund was not given and again had issues with customer service via email (spoke to 3 different people and continuously repeating the same conversation and showing proof over and over).
Was notified that refund would be processed that day and would show in my account a few days later. Again three weeks had passed and still no sign of the refund so I disputed it through PayPal. (You will need proof of tracking and emails for this)

Defo use PayPal when ordering off this company. Cover your back as I’ve just read other comments and any negative reviews show very similar stories.

Spiked Meat carving board .
I came across Maison and White when looking for a new carving board. I found a board on Amazon but decided to compare online. I then found the same item at half the price with Maison and White. I also came across an insulated Gravy boat at a very good price and with both items I got free delivery. I was kept up to date with my order via email and I was pleased with the delivery times.

Awful customer service and returns process

Ordered an item from them that came damaged, but the thing is - the box wasn't damaged at all, it was put into the box already bent out of shape and unusable for purpose.

The company were less than accommodating despite it being their fault for sending out a damaged product and offered me less than satisfactory options (one being a measly 10% discount). I had to send it back to exchange it, even though they wouldn't even be able to re-sell it.

Then, they lost my return in the warehouse somehow and were incredibly unhelpful with the entire returns process so there was a huge delay in getting my replacement.

With any company where I've been sent a damaged product, I've been sent a replacement or I've been refunded as they can't actually resell it. I'm happy with the product now I've finally got it, but you can get all of their products from other places online so I'd rather get them elsewhere next time.

*Update* The company says that they can't open packages as they're fully sealed from the manufacturer, but they managed to put their business cards and returns info inside it? They have an answer for everything.

I'm sorry to hear your product arrived with you damaged, all products arrive with us fully sealed from the manufacturers and we're unable to open them all and break the seal.

It's extremely rare for an item to arrive damaged but if it does we try our best to resolve this. If there is minimal damage on occasion we will offer a partial refund so it's easier for the customer not having to return the item. But if this isn't accepted like in your case we do need it returned which we did cover the return shipping cost too.

I am glad you now have the item and are happy with this.

I ordered some natural slate placemats and coasters, they arrived 2 days after. Very pleased with delivery time and quality of goods - have reordered for presents for my family. Very impressed!

Terrible customer service and packaging!!

I ordered 4 sets of A4 sized wooden storage drawers, intending to use them as a block together. When they arrived, they were sellotaped together, to make one huge, heavy, parcel. This made it really difficult to manoeuvre and no doubt why it was damaged on one corner.

Inside the boxes, one of the units was damaged and I emailed the company to tell them this, including photographs of the parcel, and the drawers. They sent a replacement but unfortunately this was even more badly damaged, due to the way it had been packaged. Other than a thin layer of cardboard the box sits in, there is no additional buffer packaging to protect the rather thin wooden drawers.

However, the real problem comes here ... having received now TWO sets of damaged (completely unusable) drawers, I am refunded and told to buy again!! So now I have to pay for delivery again in order to hopefully achieve my set of 4 drawers - and have to hope and pray that they arrive intact or I'm back to square one!!? Their excuse? "We're only allowed to send a replacement once" ... which seems incredibly selfish of them considering they're sending out badly packed products that are almost certain to get damaged due to their inherent flimsiness!! Frankly, unbelievable. Tried calling them, answerphone message saying the whole team are on training, call later!!?

I'm so sorry to hear that you've had 2 items arrive with you damaged! Our warehouse package items sufficiently so they don't incur any damage along the way.

Unfortunately, sometimes items can still arrive damaged which is out of our hands but we'll always do our best to resolve the issue for all customers.

I appreciate we're not able to send a second replacement but if you were to purchase again we would cover the shipping cost for you as mentioned.

With regards to the telephone our team do undergo regular training so that we can offer the best customer service possible, this is never longer than 1 hour and phone lines are made available immediately after.

Easy to use website .No complications.

Easy to use website. I am grinning from ear to ear atm as I was going to order the door basket from Amazon. came onto Maisonandwhite website to look at other reviews and 50% sale is on. Half price great! Will review when I receive the basket.

Very pleased indeed

I was very pleased with the quality of goods purchased recently. The order constituted excellent value and the delivery method was swift and secure.
I have ordered again and will be dealing with this company again for all my household items.

Registering and buying with/from this company is a breeze ( easy )
