If your going to buy a Mate Bike then I would recommend buying from Matebike.uk. Recent shipping issues (Suez Canal / Brexit) have had an impact on supplies but the customer service team work hard to keep you informed and I feel assured that they’ll deliver as soon as possible. Early buyers will report that the actual bike isn’t without its problems but I’ve not encountered any myself so hopefully these have been resolved? Nevertheless you can take comfort in the fact that Matebike.uk will have your back! Buy with confidence.

Okay okay so why such a low review? Well let me tell you about my experience with Mate Bikes. In the course of less than 2 weeks I have had 2 bikes. The first one came out the box with no working electronics what is bad for a electric bike but Mate Bike customer service team where very quick to replace and helped out with some additional requests I asked for such as delivering the new bike to my place of work so I didn’t have to take a day of work again.

The second bike came and worked beautifully, pre assembled and checked but maybe not checked well enough as I think the spoke was over tightened meaning that within general use a spoke broke what could have caused a number of different problems such as the bike wheel no longer remaining straight.

Overall I personally didn’t have a good experience with Mate Bikes, the quality seemed off and the money seemed to be in marketing. Within the short space I had the bike I noticed multiple problems such as loud folding hinge, easy scratches, inefficient breaks, weak peddles, terrible gears for use when electric is off (and seemed like the bike was fighting back making it harder), poor handle grips, slow and expensive charging and just didn’t feel like a bike that should cost more than £1k.

So I’ve since sent back the bike and am now looking at Bromptons due to the excellent reputation but the only reason I am giving Mate Bike a 2 star is for the excellent customer service member ‘Andrew’ who went above and beyond and the delivery driver (so sorry I can’t remember your name!) who went up to my flat and personally collected the bike when I wasn’t in.

I do not recommend Mate Bike but if you do buy one the customer service team will look after you!

I saw the MATE guys in Manchester this afternoon and was allowed a test ride and immediately fell in love with it. I felt like I got a great price and all questions were answered with patience and knowledge which was brilliant. I can’t wait to enjoy the aftercare service, for now I’m delighted with my purchase and looking forward to another ride in the morning. Highly recommend these bikes and the guys behind them.

I have backed the Kickstarter campaign for the Mate X back in the day. It was not a smooth ride at all. The deadlines were not met by several months. I received the bike with missing accessories and honestly lost the appetite to ride it. Once I got it, though, I gave it a go and loved it. Though two major things were missing - the throttle and the on-road tyres I ordered and never came in. I've been riding the bike without these for two years and already lost track of tickets for the missing parts. I just let it go.

One day out of the blue, I got a call from Saad, a representative in the UK for Mate. He said that the UK office was fairly new, and they just started to pick up those tickets. He said that he would be sending the throttle in a week. I was like, "Oh, Ok. That's a surprise", but wasn't sure what to expect. And yes, the throttle showed up! I immediately tried to install it, but the cable was too short. I took this on the website and contacted them on WhatsApp. The next day someone else calls me - Andrew. He takes the issue seriously and very delicate. Long story short, I get the right throttle and the new tyres in a couple of days, and during this ride, Andrew and Saad just did a fantastic job. These gents are a great example of how important the human touch is and how companies should benefit from that. I can not recommend them enough. I sincerely hope this will carry on and consider myself a Mate customer again. Thank you so much!

Just a few words to say Andrew was very professional on the few actions I spoke to him .. professional, friendly and very helpful..I placed my order fore my mate x and was estimated to be delivered within 10 days 3 days later arrived Happy days ..

I booked a test ride online (which was a breeze) and once I got there I was met by Hanz. We spent a lot of time talking about the bikes and he was very patient in answering ALL my questions! We then took the Mate X and the City 500 for a spin and spent another long period of time going through some more questions. I was sent a quote on the day and it included everything we had spoken about. Very, very satisfied with your service guys, thanks!

Iv always wanted an electric bike but they weren't fast enough. So when I found the mate X I feel like my wish has finally come true. I absolutely adore my new bike because it can fold, its fast, and the Range can be extended by buying a spare battery and the bike is fully customizable.
On top of that, the customer service team is outstanding and brilliant, the mate team go out of there way to ensure customer satisfaction and are very friendly and professional they are excellent the best iv ever experienced 👍

Outstanding service. I am writing a review, and I never write reviews, because Mate UK have been truly outstanding. I had a fault after a year on the folding mechanism of my bike, I use it on the beach a lot and some sand must have gotten in. I bought the bike on its Kickstarter Program so had one of the first UK bikes... so I didn’t buy it from Mate UK...The amazing team at Mate UK took the problem on as the UK distributor... they dealt with Copenhagen and offered to replace the body of the bike! The stripped it and re built it all under warranty. I don’t know anyone else that would do that period.

They advertised a bike that was suitable for the beach and when it had a fault because of that use the kept their end of the warranty. My experience with other products is that they just find excuses! We all know it’s just an incredible bike .. it goes anywhere but knowing that the company that sold it to you has your back and no quibbles is way beyond the call of duty. Thank you Mate UK .. you have a loyal customer.

I originally bought my Mate X from Indiegogo. The previous 2 Mate bikes had been stolen, no fault about the bikes, BUT they are special. The satisfaction from owning them caused me to buy a third. This bike has been serviced by Mate UK, who from the start maintained excellent communication and their service was of the highest level. I would highly recommend owning a Mate bike and using the service of Mate UK. Well done guys looking now to buy a bike for my wife I am sure you will be able to help. Thank you

Bought a 500w Mate Bike City. The bike is very high quality, it feels and rides very well. The design is first class and I am extremely happy with it. Andrew was super helpful during the sales process and since, he answers queries quickly and knows his stuff.

Got a Mate X bike last year was good apart from missing front light . Sent a few emails, nothing happened. Found Matebike.uk and got in touch with them ,within a week had my front light ( thanks Asim) .
Had a problem with the bike not turning on got in touch with Andrew ( star man) he went through things on the phone ,sent emails with suggestions but in the end he didn't have the parts yet but he tried and kept in touch .
Matebike eu to be fair are getting better but matebike.uk are far above them ,showing how you should deal with people.
