As a fellow MobalPay user I wish we could have given longer notice. We can, however, offer advice but alternative suggestions will depend on your length of stay in Japan, the IDs you have access to (MyNumber card, etc) and who you currently bank with in Japan, etc. No one solution works for everyone. A complete game-changer for expats – 100% trust after 4+ years
I’ve been using MobalPay for over four years now (possibly closer to five) and I honestly don’t know how I managed without them before. Living abroad, the local banking system here feels incredibly restrictive and oppressive – high fees, endless paperwork, and constant hurdles for anything international.
MobalPay has been a genuine breath of fresh air. Everything works exactly as it should: transfers are fast, fees are transparent and low, and customer support actually answers quickly and solves problems.
I recently signed up for their card and Mobile Pay feature and it’s seamless – truly “set it and forget it”. Topping up, spending abroad, receiving payments… it all just works without drama.
If you’re a foreigner or expat struggling with traditional banks in your host country, do yourself a favour and check out MobalPay. I trust them 100% and can’t recommend them highly enough. They’ve made my financial life abroad so much easier and less stressful for me.

So sorry your application took time and hopefully you are now up and running. We require only an ID upload- we don't require any paperwork. We are not fans of paperwork at all in fact. We hope by now you are enjoying cashless life and access to an online account (no paper statements) with details of all your transactions online. Paperwork sucks- we agree!

Thank you for your nice review and sorry to hear that at the application stage you still have concerns MobalPay is not the real deal. Assuming your ID is approved, you will get a card upon making payment and join a community of fellow foreign residents using this card and making a difference in our world. We understand that some people have bad experiences with fradulent companies but we are here to serve. Enjoy your time in Japan!
P.S It's a minor point but MobalPay is a Mastercard, not Visa ;)
