We used a data eSIM on an Android and set it up in Japan. It worked great and you definitely need it to get around Japan using Google Maps!

Perhaps this is not what you meant but one of the great features of MobalPay is that it allows you to purchase a SIM with phone number from Mobal.com which is a big plus! Of course MobalPay do not require a phone number for new applicants either. Either way thank you for making the morally right choice (we think) in using MobalPay- but MoralPay sounds nice too!
