Just ordered some gates. Aside from very keen pricing, the customer service is exemplary. Mike worked with me for two days to ensure that the specification met the slightly unusual requirement. I also needed to split the total for payment - also no problem at all. Even when my new un-activated card got bounced, Mike was patient, simply pointing out the fact. Quick call to Santander solved that and the order is in. I just wish that all suppliers were like this, all resp as courteous, patient and professional!

Online Security Gates have a big reputation for good customer service, and I wasn’t disappointed. I was also impressed by their knowledge of safety standards around instillation, good to know that they don’t compromise on making sure that the end result is safe. Highly recommend.

I recently contacted the company after visiting their website, which gave me the impression of a professional and reliable service. My initial conversation with Mike seemed promising, but things took a turn for the worse when I questioned his recommendation based on gates and mechanisms I've seen before. He became condescending and patronising, and his tone shifted dramatically, culminating in an unacceptable remark: "That will be the end of this discussion, DO I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR!" I was taken aback by his unprofessionalism and had to address it straight away. I also had to refocus him on my initial query, but unfortunately after that I never received a response.

I strongly suggest that Mike undergoes customer service training to learn how to interact with potential clients respectfully and professionally. The company should ensure that all staff members are equipped to handle customer enquiries in a courteous and helpful manner!

Hi Mike, for the benefit of potential customers reading this, I want to clarify that I never received a response after our conversation, which speaks for itself.

Regarding our discussion about gates, you explained and advised only once, and I discussed it with my wife, which you heard. But then when I mentioned having seen a gate where the pedestrian gate needs to be closed for the driveway gates to function, you became hostile, which is what i expressed in the first review. It's clear that your reaction was unwarranted, and I hope potential customers can draw their own conclusions and you take my advise on board going forward.

I also asked about a 'pedestrian mode' option for the driveway gates, but you seemed unfamiliar with the concept. You suggested using the controller open and close button to stop the gates, whereas I've seen gates that have a dedicated button for pedestrian access, allowing the gates to open partially. It's clear that there was a lack of understanding or experience on your part, about the feature I was referring to. Thanks!

Just to be clear, as I can see Mike editing his review on several occasions to fit his narrative and justify his behaviour (Narcissism). When I asked about the 'pedestrian mode' it was in responce to you saying the design has to be made without a separate pedestrian access, so your responce is misleading to the public.
It is safe to have two sliding gates with a pedestrian mode on one of the far left or far right gates partially open so the user can get access, maybe you distracted yourself when you were trying to school me! Again, take my advise onboard with some training.

Portobello Aluminium Pedestrian Gate.

This was specified within a recent modernisation of a 1960's building. Security and the build of the gate was important, and this gate was specified and fitted. Excellent build quality, RAL 7016 finish was very good, a smart lock was also factory fitted, which I am very pleased with. When security matters, this pedestrian gate ticks all the boxes.

Bought a set of swept top driveway gates in anthracite grey to replace an existing pair of similar in solid oak.
Anyone thinking of wooden gates should think again. Swelling, shrinking, cracking, yearly treatment not to mention warping and dropping are all the joys you can expect. Not so with these, what a change. Wish I'd installed these from the beginning. They still look and operate like new a year on and ease of operation I can only describe as enjoyable after years of struggling with heavy wooden ones. I myself am a master craftsman and was slightly sceptical about not making my own as I had done with my original gates. After a lot of research I decided to go with this company as they were the cheapest and most knowledgeable and the only one contactable by phone and being old-fashioned that's what I like, a human on the end of the phone. I will continue to use this company going forward as I have other properties. Thanks Mike and online security gates 👌

Very professional assistance prior to ordering the gates and once they'd been ordered, delivery was within the timeframe quoted. On arrival, we were impressed with the delivery driver and build quality. Easy to fit and despite a plastic cover being broken, this was quickly replaced.

Such an idiot and annoying. behaved as he is buying stuff from me not me from him. Such a narrow minded unprofessional harsh person. Very bad attitude. He assumed, I should know everything about their gates.

I am writing this review as I think it really merits one…I am not one for normally doing them. I received some expert and friendly telephone advice from Mike in relation to my non standard size openings and one with a particular awkward angle (the house and fence don’t run parallel). I ordered 2 x Portobello gates on 25th August 2024 with an expectation of a few weeks lead time. Both gates came in good time and all the components for each part / stage of the gate fixing were in separate packet bags so it was easy to see which bolts, etc went with which bit to work on. The fitting was easy using the online instructions (be careful to ensure you drill the holes for the fixing bolts to the right size as once you push the coach bolts into your wall they will anchor and you won’t be able to pull the plug part of the anchor bolt track out if the hole isn’t the right size). Fitting together was easy but is a 2 person job to hold the gate and when adjusting it. One thing I would say is make sure to pay attention that you have the gate the correct way up if you lay it on the ground whilst doing the fixings). You can establish this by checking the holes where the lock barrel fits, otherwise there is the potential to fit it upside down but that is easily rectified and was user error not product related. The product itself is really sturdy, good quality and excellent finish. Definitely recommend it. Final practical tip, make sure you leave the protective covering on it whilst fitting or you may risk scraping it on the surface you are fixing it to (in this case brick to brick). Exactly as advertised, great service. Thank you.

Fantastic business which I so highly recommended. I had quite a complex order, Mike did his upmost to ensure all details were accurate for what we needed. The Aluminium Portobello gate is of high quality and looks superb, stylish and contemporary, which compliments our home wonderfully. Great service, great staff, great products….what more could you want!

Purchased a security gate from them in 2021. Communication and service was great then. Three years later there was a problem with the locking mechanism and they sent out a replacement at no cost. Great service/support.
