Our room was a great disappointment

Our room was a great disappointment. The windows were frosted over with plastic,the lighting was poor,the bathroom was so narrow we had to leave the door open to get washed.There was one plastic chair to sit on, my husband is 92 I am 83, there was no comfort at all. We were charged the same amount as those who had a decent room,why.The rest of the hotel was good,the food was excellent,the Isle of Man is lovely.

First room was dowdy and window looked…

First room was dowdy and window looked onto brick wall. Second room a little better but with toilet that whistled when flushed (so did next rooms too) Ceiling by bathroom falling down. Food was poor - no fresh meat just meat that had been pressed and then sliced (or it appeared to be) Nothing fresh. Vegetables were very sparse and no one was offered extras. We expected a dish of vegetables to share but nothing was given to any table.
Some of the corridors on 2nd floor were very narrow, needed decorating - holes in wall, wallpaper coming off and appeared to have polystyrene tiles on ceiling. The wall paper in bedroom was faded and scratched and could have done with a thorough overhaul.
The staff were all superb though. Door to door service is advertised. We did get a taxi which arrived on time, but we were taken to Wakefield to join the coach which took one hour then from Wakefield to Lytham St Annes -long journey! The journey took us 7 and a quarter hours. It was door to door but over 7 hours from a place that is1 and a half hours away? We stopped at Salford Quays for 2 and a half hours!! The whole coach was full of mature people who just wanted to get home. Because of the wait in Salford we were then caught in traffic. The driver was lovely but most people on the coach were unhappy.
Door to door is the reason we chose Palmer holidays and feel that saying they will contact the hotel is not enough. Our holiday was a disaster and not worth the amount of money we paid. As pensioners that took a lot of doing.

We were disappointed with our room 101…

We were disappointed with our room 101 as it was cramped and in need of smartening up, especially the poor repairs to the ceiling where they had used 2 big boards to hide the problem rather than try to repair it.
there was very little room to move around the bed.
Not the standard of room we have had with Palmers before.

Another lovely holiday with Palmers

Another lovely holiday with Palmers. The Merrion hotel was excellent with helpful staff, a comfortable room and super food. The weather in North Wales was exceptional for March which was a real bonus.

Our Llandudno experience…

From leaving home to returning home everything about the holiday experience was A1. The coach was com-fortable, the driver was great, the hotel and food were superb. The trips out were excellent. What more can I say

Solo traveller experience

Liked coach, clean and comfortable, driver Grant, very helpful. Liked the facilities and my room at the hotel, Warner's Studley Royal, appreciated no single supplement. Disliked fact all 25 travellers dispersed over a very large dining room (seated 200+) and as a solo traveller I was sat on my own with none of the coach party nearby. Joined the other solo traveller for evening meals from the second day. On all other coach holidays we have always dined in the same area. This was my first experience as a solo traveller with Palmer's and solo in a hotel. Liked the destinations but would have preferred just one a day and have more meaningful time at the location. Nottingham drop off was not very convenient to find way to Castle or shops.

Whilst I enjoyed some of my holiday…

Whilst I enjoyed some of my holiday with Palmers I was surprised that approximately 50% of the coach seats were booked by a bereavement group.
Palmers write ups in the brochure and on line state....... 'Relax with like-minded people' but trying to chat to fellow travellers I had difficulty in knowing who was who.
That has put me off future coach holidays. Our driver Grant and hostess Judith were first class as was the location.

Christmas at Mercure Daventry Court hotel

This was a great Christmas holiday ,home pick up and return excellent, check in at hotel great, drinks & snacks on arrival very welcome.
Hotel and room very well appointed, clean and welcoming.
The mainly young staff were Brilliant so helpful nothing too much trouble and it was very busy but well managed
The food was good and plentiful with lots of choice
The entertainment was mostly good and I understand the Casino was a hit
The only negative was no hostess/host as this was a good companions holiday.
Would happily recommend this holiday and this hotel, well done Palmers

Hogmanay

This was the first palmers holiday that I would not describe as great, no entertainment on the first night 😢, not good. New year's eve gala dinner had no choices ! I never found a starter that I liked over the 3 nights ! On the 3rd night then only entertainment was a quiz & a game of bingo, very poor. Our excursion to the Kelpies on new year's Day was cancelled because of a tiny bit of snow. The driver had already made it quite clear that he'd rather not be going out on new year's Day, he wanted to have a few drinks on new year's eve. Are we to be reimbursed for the excursion that we'd paid for ? I have been on several palmers holidays and never been so disappointed before. Maybe you should not use that red rose driver, Martin, anymore.

Sadly we had to cancel the Kelpies visit on New Year's Day on the hotels recommendation due to the bad weather, we will of course be reimbursing you for this. Lovely but .....The taxi that picked us up was too…

The taxi that picked us up was too small for 4 people very squashed. The trip to Southport .. too early in the morning everything was closed, disappointing might have been better leaving later and going in to Blackpool. The hotel was lovely and the food was excellent.

Belton Woods Hotel Lincolnshire

The hotel was exceptional, accommodation, food and staff were all excellent. I only gave the holiday 4 stars because of the driver. He actually drove the coach into an Asda car park and did not apologise. He always said he would let us know what we were doing the next day at dinner but he never did. We had to find out things for ourselves. I know he was not a usual Palmer's driver and it was noticeable.

The hotel was very good

The hotel was very good. The accommodation was splendid. The choice of food was wide and the meals were delicious. The table staff were very friendly and attentive. The one dis thing about the tour was that the coach driver did not come up to the standard that the Palmer’s coach drivers usually set.
