Very easy to order the watch and set up emergency contacts. After charging it, I did a test emergency call and was impressed with the clarity of reception and with the calm and kind response from the person answering. It is reassuring to have with me in case of a sudden severe asthma attack.

Quite good just a couple of niggles. Some of the set up instructions could have been clearer and more helpful. Not everyone can put the base unit in a central location unless you have a bungalow and 'ground height' needs clarifications etc etc. Disappointed that my direct debit came out a month earlier than the letter told me. If it wasn't for my bank warning me I would have been overdrawn.
Had to phone a couple of times but support was very good and helpful.

Do have problems with signals certain parts of the house there is no signal

It is helpful to know that in the event of a fall I can contact someone

The actual buying and setting up process was efficient and those guiding me were patient and helpful. However,after3 months when about to go on holiday I wanted reassurance on what I needed to do. I had read the booklet but feel there is no substitute for being able to speak with a customer servicer employee. I was only able to hear a recorded voice and unable to ask questions which could have helped ease my anxiety. I feel this is a great limitation of the system.

I ordered a take care alarm system on recommendation of my husband’s carer. It arrived within 24 hours . My son set it up for me and I now wear the alarm 24/7. I found the instructions easy to follow and have added a couple of more contacts if needed for emergencies

Very good experience so far, easy to set up and help was there if needed. My mum has dropped the pendant a number of times and the operators have been in touch straight away stop make sure everything was ok so it does work.

Setting up the account for the personal alarm was simple and straight forward and it was the same when the alarm arrived we had it up and running in no time, iv not had to use it yet but iv tested it which they recommend you do every so often and it works great they answered in seconds.

I was really pleased to receive my personal alarm watch. However, it is so thick that I ended up with with bruises all over my lower arm .Please is it possible to change it for one that hangs round my neck?

While I cannot fault the customer service provided by Age UK and the response provided when my personal alarm is triggered, the actual equipment itself has unfortunately not performed terribly well. The first issue is that I live in a rural area with little to no mobile signal, so while the base unit (with dual SIM technology) can connect to the network the voice quality of conversations had via the base unit are often of poor quality, with the person at the other end struggling to hear, so not ideal. I purchased the extra fall detection feature but in the time I have been wearing the wrist band I have had about 8 falls ... and only one was detected. I am a woman in her eighties, only about 5ft 3in and quite light (just over 7 stone), so may be there just isn't enough inertia being generated. Either way, the wrist band cannot be relied upon to detect my falls. I also find that it is extremely easy to accidentally press the button in the centre of the wrist band, especially when washing and drying my hands. Not a problem in itself as it is easy to cancel a call ... but I then have to get to the base unit (which may be on another floor) and then explain (across a bad quality connection) that it is a false alarm. So that is why I have only given 3 stars ... I have been using the device for about 5 months and so far the performance is below expectations. If I thought another unit might perform better I would discontinue with this service, but I think they are all likely to suffer from the same issue, given my particular circumstances, so sticking with Age UK for now.

So far so good. the base unit is neat and clear and the wrist alarm convenient. I have tested the system a couple of times which was fine. Haven't had to test it in an emergency yet.

Alarm is always answered quickly so I feel secure wherever I am. Help has always been organised as soon as possible when needed. Follow-up calls aid confidence as do calls to named relatives. The pendant is easy to charge. In the past I have experienced failures of the chain, which is disconcerting, and it is not easy to acquire a new one.
