We have just completed the transfer of our old domestic analogue telephone line with BT to a new digital one with Planet Telecom. Not only has this considerably reduced our monthly outgoings but we were astonished at the speed and smoothness of the transfer itself.
We instructed Planet Telecom to go ahead on the Monday morning and within an hour they had come back to us to confirm that BT would be transferring our existing telephone number to Planet Telecom on Friday. Planet Telecom provided us with a link to a video that demonstrated how to set up the necessary equipment (the hardware and cables needed to connect the telephone line to our existing router and telephone) which equipment arrived with us by courier on Thursday. In fact, the video wasn’t really needed since the connections are such that the equipment cannot be wrongly connected. Planet Telecom immediately arranged to get us to a temporary telephone number which we could use to test the equipment which, once connected, took an hour to ‘bed in’ and register. The digital set up was then immediately fully functional and working in exactly the same way as the old analogue system – albeit with the temporary telephone number. At 10am the next day (the Friday) Planet Telecom telephoned us using our old telephone number to advise that its transfer to them by BT had successfully taken place and that the digital conversion was, therefore, now complete.
We were very impressed with the professionalism of Planet Telecom throughout the process not only in the way in which they orchestrated it and the clarity of their explanations but also the speed with which it was achieved. We would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone wishing to undertake a similar transfer which is, in any event, currently intended to become obligatory for everyone within the next few years.

A great alternative to Skype , the customer support is fantastic, and they always deliver exactly what I need.

Had an issue with multiple accounts with credits scattered between them. Rob got me sorted in no time with balances moved to a single account, deletion of the defunct accounts etc. All within an hour. Excellent customer support.

Excellent customer service from Jonny and his colleague. Planet Telecom took over our service following the closure of Skype, and did this seamlessly, keeping me updated at every relevant point up to the porting of our virtual number onto their system.

Doesn't really work. Customer support can't resolve issues such as zero connection. I paid upfront a few pounds, got around half a dozen calls through to international numbers, but then my prime international number just failed to connect. Customer support told me they 'didn't see why it shouldn't work' Lol! I've lost the money and will be trying someone else

Excellent company with great products and service, I would recommend.

I couldn't believe it's free and it's not. I was initially very pleased. The Planet Telecom website says it should be 2.5p per minute to a mobile plus 5 p connection but I wasn't charged by Planet Telecom. Instead, I was charged £1.50 by my provider as 0845 is not included in my phoneplan.

You have to pause to listen to a message after you dial the 0845 number, before you dial the international number. Then another short pause and I was through to Australia, calling from UK.

Lewis at Planet Telecom is a credit to the team, unlike some providers where the system is very automated, Planet Telecom prefer a much more personal touch to getting setup, working out what you actually need and what you don't before enrolling on the trial. That may seem less practical but it's actually a lot more reassuring knowing that a genuine telecoms expert is taking care of the best possible service to solve your requirements.
